Best cake on the planet. I have tried many different places and I am very happy I have found Nina Bakes LA. Great customer service she heard what we wanted and did exactly how we asked her to. Have had many cakes sweets from Nina and I can't wait to order more. Thank you for all the yummy cakes.

My personal experienced with the owner was amazing. What i loved the most was she had time to personally talk to me and work with my requests. She was very hands on unlike other shops that i called. So i had an easy transaction and she was very accomodating. The cake reached our expectations and even the taste we love it. She gave us instructions about the cake and didnt just do a business. She cares! Thanks again... definetly coming back!

Wow! So "user friendly"!! We just threw our son his first official birthday party (with invitations…read morefor friends, etc). At first, I was just going to get a basic (honestly, probably grocery store) cake, but decided to go all-out. I was deciding between 3 shops in West LA. One sent an entire email of what they wouldn't do (like I was buying a cake from SugarFish!) So, ot really came down to Ivory's and one other shop and I chose Ivory's because they were responsive and their messages were positive. We had a Minecraft theme and they'd also done a Minecraft cake before so, it made the order super easy. She even made the letters blue -- his favorite color! I added the candles which a random guest pointed out should say "TNT" not "BOOM" so that's not on Ivory's Her husband personally delivered the cake to the Santa Monica Pier (let's face it -- a super annoying place to get to especially on a weekend) and was even early! They couldn't have made it easier and everyone (parents and kids) commented on how good the cake looked and tasted! And the cupcakes! We ordered special cupcakes but I forgot to take a pic. I think one of our guests might have. If I find one, I'll update the post

The shop was extremely easy to work with and was able to accommodate our requests (flavor, color, etc.). Their online ordering system made everything super easy, almost too easy, I thought our order didn't go through! The cake itself was DELICIOUS and so many people at the party said they couldn't tell it was gluten free. Truly so so great. We actually had some leftover and froze it so have been able to continue to enjoy even after the birthday It's definitely not the cheapest option, but they are definitely a worthwhile splurge for a special occasion.

Far exceeded my expectations. Firstly, they saved our…read moredaughter's birthday party by making a cake where-as 3 others places couldn't. We wanted cupcakes in the shape of a number 5. Seems simple right? Ralph's on Bundy said they don't have a decorator. Ralph's on Olympic said their cake machine is broken. Susie Cakes said they couldn't make a cake from cupcakes. Cakes.com took the order and then sent a cancellation email 2 days later. So, going to yelp and seeing so many good reviews for Star Bakery we tried them. Walking in the place doesn't look like much, it's kinda small in front and not fancy. I told them what I wanted and they said "no problem". Really friendly person helping us at the counter and then a really helpful decorator who refined the order via text messages the next day. They gave me a price which I thought was very high but I admit I don't really know what these things should cost. All I know is it was quite a bit more than Cakes.com who cancelled my order via email so I'll never try to use them again. (Or Ralph's for that matter) Here is the best part: The end result not only looked better than I had anticipated but the quality and taste was incredible. Honestly the best tasting cupcakes I've ever had. And it wasn't just me who said how good they were; everyone at the birthday party loved them. The whole experience with Star Bakery was an epic success and I am so delighted they are in my neighborhood. Finally, I should mention Star isn't expensive across the board. They had some beautiful looking tarts in the refrigerated case that were very reasonably priced. They will give you a price for a custom cake up front and if you say yes, be assured it will be a top quality cake.

In LA, you should know how big of a deal parking is. If you have parking, you are among the elite. Anyway, the cupcakes, I got a standard for a pack with chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate, and red velvet. To me, these cupcakes seemed even smaller than the standard mini size but maybe I was just already a little butt hurt that I caved on my promise to myself not to fall into the mini fad. I have to say, the highlight of these has got to be the frosting. The strawberry and the chocolate frosting were exceptionally delicious. I would probably buy the frosting by itself if I could. A real home run there and I was definitely wishing that I had A full-size cupcake to enjoy the full-size frosting. The cakes themselves were nothing to write home about, but that could also be because it is nearly impossible to get more than two bites out of a mini cupcake, so maybe I just didn't get a chance to really experience it. All in all, these were pretty solid, and I will definitely return for that frosting alone. Unfortunately, I cannot give this place five stars because again, mini cupcakes are a total rip off. For four of them I paid almost $10. Four minis equal about a regular-size cupcake which on average is $4 or less. It would be more realistic for them to sell them at two dollars apiece, or a dollar per bite.

After customer complaints, it seemed like they switched it back, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the cake I purchased today (May 30) was extremely disappointing. The frosting tasted completely different, and the cake itself had very little flavor--it honestly tasted like water. After this experience, I don't think I'll be returning. I'm genuinely sad because Hansen's Cakes has been a part of my family's celebrations since my son was 6 years old. For years, it was our go-to bakery for birthdays and special occasions, so this is really disappointing. Does anyone have recommendations for a bakery that makes great custom cakes? I especially like having a printed photo collage on top of my son's birthday cakes. If you know of a bakery that offers edible image printing and delicious cakes, I'd love your recommendations. After my family sang happy birthday and I cut the first slice of my cake, I discovered a long piece of hair baked into the slice. This is not only disgusting but also a clear violation of basic food safety and hygiene standards. I work in food service myself, so I understand the importance of proper sanitation: hair must be completely covered, hands must be properly washed and protected, and kitchen procedures must be followed at all times. The presence of hair in my cake shows serious negligence in your kitchen. What made this situation worse is the lack of response. I called your bakery and emailed with my receipt to inform you of the issue, but no one got back to me for a long time. When someone finally responded, I was told the issue would be handled -- yet I received no follow‑up afterward. This made me feel ignored and showed a lack of concern for your customers. Just Nasty Hansons, shame on you!
