The chocolate cake here is decadent! The lemon bar was delicious. The oatmeal cookie is probably the best oatmeal cookie I've ever had - flavor and texture were on point! My favorite item is probably the carrot cake though - super moist and flavorful. The store is located on a busy street, but you can find street parking. As you can see by my photos, I have been ordering my cakes here for years! Hands down, best bakery in LA. Jamaica and her team deliver fresh, delicious, moist cakes each time. Never overly sweet, you can taste the freshness in them and I honestly can say that the quality and consistency of their work has never altered. Ordering is simple, order via calling the store. They're very friendly, no matter which staff you speak with. Since it was my first time ordering from them, I called the day before to double check everything was still ok and on track for delivery to the bday girl, and it was. Jamaica is brilliant and wonderful, and so amazing to work with. I had been researching construction themed cakes for my son's birthday and came across Top Tier Treats. I reached out to Jamaica with all my ideas, and she was able to make sense of it all within the budget that I had. The process was so easy and she took away any stress I may have had about the cake. I didnt order a cake from here but I tried to and the person who answered the phone was so rude! I am looking for a wedding cake and I had shared that and the woman was rude that I need to do it online. I said that I had already done that and just wanted a range of prices for the cakes. She got short with me and said she didn't do that. Several hours later, I received a passive aggressive email response to my email. It took hours for them to respond and their online form doesnt even work. A company's poor procedures or technology should not impact my experience doing business with a company. Again, unprofessional and unpleasant experience! I ended up getting a quote and beautiful cake from another vendor. Buying a cake shouldnt be a head ache!! read more

This review is for the last time I went and picked up a cake for my friends birthday. It also includes the previous times I've been here and haven't given a rating. I went here and picked up a dulce de leche cake to surprise a friend I haven't seen since before the pandemic. Oh I didn't order in advance and just did a walk in. They always have a good variety of smaller and larger cakes. The folks in the shop are always very helpful and answer my question since I don't buy cakes very often. It's always an easy transaction. For this particular cake, I really appreciated that it had delicious flavor without being overly sweet. He taste of this sweet caramel but with butter cake frosting, which tends to be more rich than just sweet. A great combination. My friend loved the cake and so did our other friend that was with us. In general, I have never had a bad experience coming to the shop. The kids are always delicious and beautiful. They always impressed. I have bought cakes in the past for my girlfriend at the time and for my former boss and again, it was always positive. This place is pretty much my go to when I need a cake especially in a pinch. Not only did our cake look stunning (exactly what we wanted) but it tasted amazing and got so many compliments (not always guaranteed with wedding cakes) We did one cake funfetti buttercream and one vegan vanilla buttercream. I came into Top Tier Treats about a week before my birthday and tried their cakes. I tried strawberry and chocolate. They were both delicious but I fell in LOVE with the chocolate. I showed them my vision and what I wanted for my birthday. They were attentive, sweet, affordable and I can't wait to order another cake from them! Everyone couldn't believe it was vegan! Located in West LA, our bakery takes pride in our desserts. Whether you are ordering your wedding cake or cupcakes for your kid's birthday party, we only use all natural ingredients. This means we use butter, eggs, cream, and real vanilla and never use shortening or preservatives. Your cake is made to order and never frozen. Seems simple right? Ralph's on Bundy said they don't have a decorator. Ralph's on Olympic said their cake machine is broken. Susie Cakes said they couldn't make a cake from cupcakes. Cakes.com took the order and then sent a cancellation email 2 days later. So, going to yelp and seeing so many good reviews for Star Bakery we tried them. Walking in the place doesn't look like much, it's kinda small in front and not fancy. I told them what I wanted and they said "no problem". Really friendly person helping us at the counter and then a really helpful decorator who refined the order via text messages the next day. They gave me a price which I thought was very high but I admit I don't really know what these things should cost. All I know is it was quite a bit more than Cakes.com who cancelled my order via email so I'll never try to use them again. (Or Ralph's for that matter) Here is the best part: The end result not only looked better than I had anticipated but the quality and taste was incredible. Honestly the best tasting cupcakes I've ever had. And it wasn't just me who said how good they were; everyone at the birthday party loved them. The whole experience with Star Bakery was an epic success and I am so delighted they are in my neighborhood. Finally, I should mention Star isn't expensive across the board. They had some beautiful looking tarts in the refrigerated case that were very reasonably priced. They will give you a price for a custom cake up front and if you say yes, be assured it will be a top quality cake.

When you have them write on a cake you pre ordered you can tell they took very little time to do it, it is sloppy and there is nothing but what you told them to write. Most bakeries add a little flower or something to present the name. I just had a lemon curd type cake from them and I noticed the sloppy writing and the cake was so sweet I could not eat it, and of course, it was cold. I won't be back. That is sad. I will find another bakery that cares. But I still give them a 4 because I know a lot of people like sweet cakes with whipped cream frosting and their service is very good.

Disaster struck when I was driving the cake to the birthday party -- the cake partially tipped over in its box! We called Nina to get some help resetting the cake. Not only did she help us out via FaceTime, after it became clear we weren't able to do it ourselves, she actually drove over to our house and personally fixed it! By the time the party started, the cake was back to its gorgeous original form and multiple guests at the party told us how beautiful (and delicious) the cake was! TL; DR Nina is an amazing baker and even more amazing person who goes above and beyond for her customers!

When I tell you they delivered -- they really delivered. The craftsmanship, the detail, the overall quality... everything was incredible. Service: Service was great! Tera (staffer) was very nice, attentive, offered great suggestions, and was quite informative about the shop. She also informed me that I was able to get two complimentary macarons. Patisserie Of Choice: 1) Blossom: Consisted of vanilla mousse, pistachio/red berries insert, pistachio crunch, and pistachio sponge. It was too pretty to eat, but I ate it anyways. So good and soo yum! 2) Roche: Consisted of hazelnut mousse, house made praline combined with soft caramel, hazelnut sponge. Taste like a Ferrer Rocher! It's very dense and sweet, but great to eat. Not something I'll have all the time. Macarons Of Choice : I got the Cookies and Cream and pistacio. They were both good. Artelice Patisserie For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back. We got the einspänner latte, matcha spänner, and breakfast sliders (bacon, because avocado was sold out). The drinks were small, but they do pack a lot of flavor. No adjustments necessary, and they had the right amount of sweetness. The sliders were very tasty, and it came in four with two sauces on the side. There are plenty of seats available outdoors and a little space indoors. The person taking our order and the baristas were nice and made sure we had everything as well. This comes with a thick layer of matcha cream, which wasn't too sweet and something that was truly desirable, and this is coming from someone who finds more decadent heavy desserts repulsive. I also had the chicken katsu, which came with miso soup, rice, and salad. I think the chicken katsu here had the perfect crunch and the sauce / rice that came with it was delicious. The miso soup was also quite tasty. Word of advice from the server was to purchase the combination, which allowed me to get everything I wanted for steep discount in comparison to buying everything aforementioned individually. One downside was that only street parking is available.
