She brought it out and it was clearly labeled on the box that it was the vegan red velvet, so I could be assured it was indeed mine. When I got home, I ate the cupcake. It was so rich and indulgent and they do such an amazing job creating a soft delectable cake with a smooth and creamy cheesecake frosting. My experience with Shakar Bakery was like no other. For many occasions, I've ordered cakes from different vendors, but I can genuinely say ordering from Shakar Bakery was the best decision I ever made. Shantal is the sweetest person ever!! She truly knows how to make her customers feel great! I ordered a two-tier cake for my boyfriend's birthday, and she made my vision a reality. Just through my emails she was able to bring my entire thought process to life and more. Seeing the cake for the first time made me speechless. I've never seen a more talented human being than Shantal!! She's truly amazing and the best cake artist you'll find on Earth! The cake was absolutely beautiful...from the tiny details to the gorgeous topper, everything was what I dreamed of. Speaking of dreams, the cake tasted like nothing I've ever had before. I highly recommend Shakar Bakery, she's not your typical baker!! If your looking for something unique and one of a kind she's your go to person! I ordered a baby shower cake for my sister in law and Shantal the owner of Shakar bakery did an amazing job with the design, it was beautiful and unique. All the guests at the baby shower loved the cakes unique design and couldn't wait to taste it. It was a two tier cake so I had the option of choosing two flavors. The top tier was her signature chocolate dulce de leche flavor and the bottom was a yellow cake rose water pistachio flavor. Although both were moist and tasty, most guests enjoyed the chocolate dulce de leche flavor over the rose water pistachio! Shantal was very professional from beginning to end! It all started when our regular bakery was booked up for the date we needed the cake for my son's birthday party. I started looking online and saw positive feedback on Shakar's Bakery. Honestly its not an easy decision when this is the first time you are placing an order with someone who you dont know at all. Shantal took her time to listen to us and not only she did what exactly we wanted, she turned our idea to a beautiful well structured cake which wowed all of us. She is truly an artist with great skills. The whole transaction has been done through nothing but perfection and professionalism. Shakar bakery is my favorite baker in town. She baked my wedding cake. The theme was mermaid/merman and the merman must have handlebar mustache. She delivered the most delicious cake I had lemon flavor and chocolate and both where delish. I am so tempted to defrost my anniversary layer that I am keeping in the freezer. I definitely recommend Shakarbaker for your special occasions! My son just turned 2 and he loves dragons/dinosaurs. The pumpkin chocolate chip cake i ordered from Shakar bakery was the highlight of my family's Halloween night. Not only was the cake delicious, it had a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. She suggested a carrot pecan and date cake with a maple cream cheese frosting, and sent a picture of what it might look like. I ordered it and she got it made in time for her celebration. My daughter was so excited! I definitely would recommend Steph and her ability to work with people to create a delicious, memorable cake. I just wish I lived close enough to enjoy a piece of it!

So imagine my delight and surprise when I found out she was going to teach a cake decorating class at The Gourmandise School in Santa Monica. Best class ever! Not only can I make a cool geode cake with rock candy, but she taught us basic cake decorating steps that I was able to make other cakes for events. I have frequented some of the places (Assembly Cafe and Cafe Demitasse) and get morning pastries are homey, delicious and beautiful as well.
