This is by far the best salon I have been to. I wanted to get a blow dry and make up done for my cousin's engagement party, so I walked in thru the doors of HNL Studio. The place was very well lit, spacious, had an amazing aroma and someone to welcome me with a warm smile. The music was uplifting and exciting and put me in a great mood. The waiting area had comfortable couches, free WiFi, refreshments, and charging stations for my phone and iPad. So my first impression was a very inviting and uplifting one. After a brief wait, Eliza K., the hair stylist welcomed me and showed me to my seat. I have to say she gave me the best blow dry and the prettiest make up application I've ever had. This salon is amazing! I have had a difficult time finding someone who can do cute short styles with my thick hair and decided to take a chance here. Vika did not disappoint! Vika listened to my conerns and discussed options specific to my hair. No glancing at a picture and getting down to it for Vika, she took her time and catered to my needs. Then the fun began. My favorite part of going to the hair salon is getting my hair washed. Vika has pretty strong hands and did a great job. She ends it with a bit of cold water (if you're ok with that) which feels rather amazing and is good for your hair. Went here with my husband to get pedicures. We called ahead to make an appointment. It was very easy. Since they only had one girl there we took turns getting our feeties done. This was no big deal though. The girl that gave us our pedicures was awesome! She did a great job! The staff was incredibly nice. They gave us free bottles of water and champagne. It was such a lovely afternoon. The only downside was that the pedicure seats weren't very comfortable. They weren't actual chairs so there wasn't any back support. There were pillows, which was nice, but both my husband and I really needed better support for our backs. So that could have been better but other than that it was great!! Plus it's really fun hanging out there. The girls are all friendly. I am always served crackers, fruit or a snack and drink of some sort. The spa part of HNL studio next door is extremely luxurious and classy. I like the combination of both trendy and fancy. The products used on my hair at the salon are always top of the line . They should have put a "+" sign at the end because I leave there with good energy, a sense of friendship and some useful tips for other parts of my health & beauty regimen that's even on the natural/organic side and is cost effective. In fact, they've never promoted/pushed their products on me but I'm more likely to purchase them because when they use them on me, the outcome looks amazing to my eyes! You really are in good, caring, professional hands with the people who work here. Also, parking has been easy for me as they have their own in the back. But a lot of people love going here so I come during a weekday a.m as being an entrepreneur allows me the time to do so. They get busier Thurs-Sat. So parking might be challenging during those afternoons. Nice neighborhood and great decor & vibe inside the studio. Now on to the review: This is my well-overdue review for microlinks hair extension and lash extensions. Please note that the prices may vary a bit depending on your hair, needs, what these experts recommend may be best for accomplishing the look that you seek and the quality of the materials. Microlink hair extensions: Helen is awesome with her craft she's also a good-natured, beautiful person who truly cares about her clients. She's accomodating as well as an expert in this field. I've loved my short hair for a few years now but I started missing my long, dark locks from years before the cut so I've been growing out my hair. But after reaching an awkward phase of it, I couldn't wait! My business has been good so I could afford an investment in my look. And it really is an investment in time (3-4 hours for the first time I got them done) and money ($600-$900 based on how many bundles of the high quality hair I needed to look beautiful and balanced on my naturally thick hair). I had to come in for a consultation first, pick the hair that look best for me and order the hair before the appointment to apply them. I was happy with the result as well as the conversations I had with Helen! She even advised me on how to take care of them so they can withstand my workouts (I love working out a lot), sleeping and how to make sure my natural hair blends with the extensions when styling (I usually like the straightened look anyway and blending my real hair with the real-hair extensions is easy using a flat iron). And you can always text her with questions but I also looked at some how-to tutorials on YouTube. In the end, my extensions looked great and it lasted past the 3 months before I had to come in to get them adjusted (Around $300 which comes with doing your hair so it looks fantastic when you leave). Even with my active lifestyle, constant showering and shampooing, they stayed put and looked natural! It even looks good in a plain ponytail. It's funny how I didn't care for my natural long hair as much as I do with these but it's training me to do so and it probably comes with getting older and hopefully wiser. Lash extensions: I love Celeste! I leave her station having laughed, feeling connected and looking fabulous! I've had really expensive lash extensions done in the past and after Celeste was done with me, I felt so ashamed that I didn't go here in the first place because she does excellent work (she's meticulous yet only takes 1 hour for me but may vary depending on what may look good or the needs of each of her clients) and uses high quality soft materials and non-toxic glues that stay put. It was $150 for the first time and then $60 for refills (she taught me how to care for them that they still look good after 3 weeks and again, I do high intensity workouts and sweat like I'm in a steam room!). She even gives you these awesome silicone based lash brushes that actually brush through your lashes rather than those other brushes that just collect a lot of lint and only brush the outside. These lashes have cut down my makeup regimen by 15 minutes as I don't feel like putting on eyeliner or curl (she gave me a curled look) or add mascara. It looks like I've already done all that. I feel like I have flirty, doll eyes even when I have no make-up on. Caring for them is easy and can actually help train you to be more gentle around your eyes and sleep in a way that causes less wrinkles. Though I suggest booking ahead of time before you really need to get them filled, she has been known to fit you into her already tight schedule for events that are coming up quickly or if a lot of lashes came out because you sweated too much in an intense kick-boxing class and forgot you had lash extensions (they're so light weight) and your head band, like I did! She is accomdating but let's care for those who care for us! I like to tip them well because I feel so cared for while there and feel fabulous when I leave. All in all, I love this place, the people and the results. I finally found a salon that I don't feel like I'm just doing a grooming chore, I actually look forward to coming here. read more

There really aren't enough adjectives to do justice for this place! Oh my goodness, they are so kind and accommodating that it really makes you feel comfortable and at ease. I spotted this place one day as I drove down Ventura and decided I would try it the next time my regular hair person was unavailable. I am so happy I called them...even though it was at the last minute on the evening before the 4th of July, they had no snippy attitude on the phone and were genuinely pleased to have me come in. Wow, not what I was getting from other salons as I called around! My amazing hair guru was Helen, and I absolutely adore her! (you will too!) As all the other reviews mention, she is so sweet and incredible with hair! She actually listens to your requests and carefully studies any pictures you may have brought. She doesn't push you into something you don't want, she respects your wishes! Honestly this was probably the best haircut and style I've gotten in a long time. Even when she blows it dry, and she uses her magic round brushes, she didn't get my (very fine) hair caught up or snagged once! I don't think that has ever happened before! Yay Helen! The shampoo was like a little spa pampering as she did this magical scalp massage before putting on lots of yummy smelling conditioners and potions to achieve the finished result. AND, as others have noted, they are gracious enough to offer you beverages and goodies...I opted for champagne! Salud! Oh, and the decor is fun and charming. I happen to love purple, so when I saw the walls were that color, it made me smile. I went last week with my mom to this place. We went to Erika where she does treatments for your skin. When you pay so much for a treatment, maybe you don't expect right away results, but atleast you expect good customer service. My mom did a peeling treatment for her skin, and they told her to leave it on for a certain amount of hours. However her face was red and burning up. She didn't know if it was normal or not or what to do. But clearly it wasn't normal if her skin is burning. Anyway, she texted Erika , and Erika never replied to her. So, my mom didn't know what to besides stop using the treatment she had to put on her own. In total, my mom and I spent here over $400/$500 for a horrible customer service. And for her skin to burn? I do not recommend anyone to come here. Please don't waste your time or money. read more
