This place truly has everything -- a small grocery selection, fresh Mexican baked goods, and even made-to-order food. The pan dulce section alone is worth the visit! It's one of those spots where you can grab specialty ingredients, fresh tortillas, hot food, and sweet treats all in one stop. Prices are comparable to other Mexican grocery stores in the surrounding area, which makes it even better. Nina's Taqueria is in Cameron Park, CA, off Green Valley Road and Cameron Park Drive. Besides being a taqueria, they have a meat counter, pan dulce bakery counter, and Mexican based grocery staples. How awesome is that?!? Super awesome!! Adding some international diversity in Cameron Park. I'm bumping up my rating. During peak dining times, the wait time for the taqueria orders have gotten significantly better thus the increased rating. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The food is pretty darn good. The menu items are diverse. Two crispy tacos are$9.99 and street tacos are $3.70. A side of chips n salsa $3.50. Menudo ($14.99) is served everyday, not just on the weekends. As a meat choice for the street tacos, they have bucha which not a lot of local taquerias carry that on their menu. They expanded their shopfront and have a very small but mighty inventory of grocery staples. The Inventory included gallon milk and fresh produce of: cilantro, jalapeño peppers, roma tomatoes, tomatillos, lemons, and limes. They still have pan dulce (Mexican pastries). But it's not self serve anymore. The pastries are behind a counter that is accessed only by employees. Plus there are no pricing listed which would be helpful to have marked versus asking staff the pricing to the various pastries. The pastry counter is not staffed, so I had to wait at the register next to the pastry counter until staff came over. Plus they have an ole school butcher meat counter. The cuts of fresh meat are in the refrigerated glass cold case. You tell them what cuts you want, the staff will pick out the items to weigh, wrap up, and take your payment. read more

I was perhaps a little too critical of Nina's on my previous review and felt the need to retract my statements. Even what I was randomly complaining about I would still consider it a good place for original Mexican food and will continue to support them. It's difficult to find exceptional hard-shelled chicken tacos and these still rank above average. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a great little spot huddled at the end of a strip mall. There's a nice brewery attached in the back with a shaded patio for enjoying your food and brews if you want. When we went the weather was perfect and the restaurant, bakery and market were humming along with locals. I had a pambaso which I had never tried or seen before but the gentleman behind the counter explained it was a fresh made bun with refried beans, chorizo, chicken(and I think potatoes), lettuce and cheese with a dipped bun. Huge flavorful sandwich I struggled to finish it! My daughter had asada street tacos, she devoured them before I could try them so I guess that said it all. My husband had menudo he said it was very good and it was a 32oz with all the fixings. We had to get some pan dulce on our way out. A little pricey but I would say worth it. I ordered a large carne asada fries, a supreme burrito, and chips and salsa through DoorDash. I specifically selected green salsa for both of my main items and also requested no pico de gallo. Unfortunately, when my order was delivered, there was no salsa included at all -- which was really disappointing, especially given the large portions of food I had ordered. I went to the restaurant in person to ask for the salsa, and the person at the counter only gave me two very small containers for the large amount of food I purchased. I had to pay an additional $1.60 to get a reasonably sized salsa container, which was frustrating since the salsa should have been included in the first place. Additionally, the carne asada fries still had pico on them. I later realized that although I selected "no pico" in the app, the receipt and the DoorDash order summary didn't reflect that customization. I even checked a previous order where the customization was done correctly -- it seems like this restaurant's system doesn't properly show or track those special instructions, which is a serious issue. Overall, the customer service was poor, and the order accuracy was disappointing. I won't be ordering from here again unless they improve how they handle special requests and provide better support for delivery mistakes. read more

Wow, so good! We ordered a bean and cheese burrito and a grilled chicken quesadilla. The bean and cheese burrito was way bigger than I was expecting, i could only eat half of it. The refried beans were good and the cheese they use is so tasty! The grilled chicken in the quesadilla was very flavorful, you could taste the char on the grilled chicken as well as the seasoning. first off, I love this place, i've been going since they first opened a few years back. I'm writing this because theres been a few separate occasions where i find lil foreign objects in my food, first time no big deal whatever i can understand how a lil piece of wrap can end up in food. This time however I found what looks to be a metal twist tie, relatively large too. I'm not here to hate or anything but I hope this review can help give the owners some insight on food safety. I purchased marinated flank steak to bbq at home and OMG, the quality of meat and their marinade is chef's kiss! We purchased a few of their pastries and was highly impressed, the concha's were soft and fresh and horejas crisp and delicious. There is surely a lack of reliably good taquerias around EDH, but this is definitely my kind of casual Mexican spot, offering authentic tacos, burritos, amazing pan dulce, and pantry ingredients inside the butcher/store. By far the most bland tasteless burrito I have ever had. I had the supreme burrito with grilled chicken. The salsa tasted fermented and all ingredients tasted old. They also messed up my friends order not once but two times. She wanted no cheese or sour cream and it had both. She sent it back and then the next burrito has beef which she doesn't eat. No offer for them to pay for her burrito for having to wait so long. When she did get what she ordered she said it tasted old. She only ate a quarter of it. The only saving grace for this place was the fresh baked deserts which were very good. The staff also seem very incompetent who made it all worse.
