Brews with massive character are truly abound at Nine Giant Brewing! I've been here a couples times, and each time, I've been thoroughly impressed all-around. The beers, the ambiance, the music, the service and friendliness of the staff, all truly great! On a recent trip, my lady and I chose four half pours; CREAM cream ale, Codex saison, Electrify New Zealand pale ale, and Cookies 'n Cream dry Irish stout. All the brews were VERY tasty, especially the Electrify and Cookies 'n Cream. I'll admit, the Electrify may be my new favorite pale ale too. They also have various food selections, but I've yet try any just yet. Though their menu does look pretty appealing with items such as pomme frites, caramelized brussel sprouts, Cubano sandwiches, smoke brisket chili, and cheeseburgers. I'll definitely have to partake in some next round. If you're a beer geek anywhere in Cincinnati, you owe it to yourself to stop by and give it a try. I haven't been out to eat since COVID-19 hit us, but decided to put my toe in the water after reading the precautions NG had in place. It also helped knowing they have big front windows that were open to the sidewalks. It was the first time my husband and I have eaten here, and were very happy with the drunken grilled cheese, chicken wings, and fresh French fries. I also loved the ginger boozy slush! Yum! The staff was very pleasant and helpful, and the closest people to our table were aboilut 12" away. Two words: Food poisoning. The night we went, the place was packed. The bartenders seemed super overwhelmed and so I tried to keep that in mind when ordering. We got three drinks between the two of us, and a grilled cheese to split. The drinks came right away. The grilled cheese? That came about 26 minutes later. Again, the night of, I thought this was due to the bar being super packed. After all, things have to be going pretty wrong for a grilled cheese to take alomst a half hour. But now? After spending the whole next day wishing I could detach myself from my nauseous stomach? I'm less optimistic. I only had half the sandwich but that was enough to leave a VERY lasting impression. My partner did not fair any better in the aftermath. If this were an otherwise really nice place, I might chalk it up to a one time, unfortunate event and try my luck again. But frankly, it's not worth it. It's just a bar like any number of other bars in the area. I'd been meaning to try Nine Giant for a while now, and finally was able to give this place a visit. I think it's a great little spot: nice location, chill atmosphere, and friendly staff. Pleasant Ridge has really surprised me lately; several great spots have been popping up over the last few years. The beer was great. Very flavorful and plenty of great choices. The bar tender let us know that it changes quite often, so we will definitely be back to try some of their other homemade brews. We also heard that Nine Giant had the best burgers in town. They have both the regular cheeseburger, and then a special (not sure how often it changes). I got the cheeseburger and my husband ordered their special. Both were great. The "secret sauce" mixed with the beer cheese on the cheeseburger were reminiscent of hamburger helper, but a gourmet version. It was different, but I loved it. The bread is also interesting- somehow, it doesn't get soggy- which is the most annoying part of eating a burger for me! My only wish is that they had more small plates. I love a good brew, but I usually have to pair it with something light. If you are looking for a great spot to have a few brews and a burger, definitely check out Nine Giant. read more

My dad and I came here last night because the place across the street was packed. Really good choice. This place is very cool, completely decked out with London atmosphere. I got the fish and chips which were phenomenal, my dad got the Shepherds pie which he also loved. Service was very friendly and fast. Overall, zero complaints. read more

I called to see if they require reservations. The answering service RECOMMENDS you make a reservation. When we arrived, the greeter stated they've "never done reservations" and continued to place us on an additional 25 minute waitlist. I was so salty when I showed up during burger week and they were closed! I got there too early and didn't have enough time to wait. Every since then I have been waiting for an opportunity to get back here and get that burger! I'm glad it finally manifested for me because let me tell you...It was a damn good burger! Imagine the most solid burger you could get and there it is...... on a table in front of you at Nine Giant. I also ordered the chicken-N- waffles for my lil' man and he devoured the chicken. In true teamwork fashion I killed the waffle for him. I also ordered two half pours (They don't do beer flights here). One was a stout and the other was a saison. Both were excellent and hit the spot. I really cant wait to get back here to taste more of the beers. Outside of all of the food and drink the Nine Giant storyline, the fantasy, the impetus narrative, the color scheme and graphics are all just plain creative and different than anything I've seen in brewing. Some time ago, a radio personality whose opinion I have come to respect spoke very highly of the burgers at Nine Giant, so given I am still looking for a really good burger in Cincinnati, I resolved to give them a try I have visited three times now, and have yet to eat a burger there. Or eat anything there, for that matter First visit: told that the burger comes as described on the menu, no exceptions. I asked what about exceptions for food allergies, and was told again: no exceptions. So I left, shaking my head with astonishment. Yes, there are some establishments that insist on "you'll have it our way, or not at all" (like Fathers Office in LA) but these are few and far between. Second visit: some time later, deciding that I must have encountered an employee in a bad mood, I stopped in again. Same question, same answer. Resulting in same departure, and same shaking of my head in disbelief. A fairly new entity that turns down business? Third visit: I wasn't planning on returning after the previous two results, but I happened to be on foot and in the area with some time to kill at dinnertime, so I figured, why not? I was very pleasantly surprised to get a different answer this time. Yes, they would let me remove things from the burger. But the next response led again to my departure. "This will be to go", I stated, intending to then order that burger, finally. "We don't do carryout", said the employee. No carryout? I left, bewildered and head shaking yet again. It did not occur to me until later that I could have asked about folks with leftovers to take home. Surely they have carryout boxes/bags/containers for leftovers, and ergo could -- if they chose to do so -- allow someone to order food to go? I am not expecting to make a 4th visit. But I remain curious about that burger...... Edit: To all: Brandon H, who is one of the owners of Nine Giant (per the NG website), has responded to my review. Its a good read, and anyone reading this should read that response first before proceeding to read the rest of my edit below To Brandon: that was an excellent and well written reply, and I you've earned my respect for it. I come away with a much better understanding of why (possibly) my experiences went as they did. That said, what happened, happened. I was looking for the normal everyday burger, not a special of any kind. Neither the online menu I used to make my original decisions on what to order nor (as best I recall) the printed paper menu onsite say anything about the no-carryout policy. If you read my reviews and photos, you'll see I am very rarely an eat-in customer anywhere. I've even gotten carryout from Ruby's :-). I remain an unhappy customer. New gastro pub/micro brew! Cream Ale is delicious. Food options could be improved, where the menu selection is ok / fair for a micropub. I got the burger & fried pickles (apparently picked on site which is pretty cool). Consistently great food and beer. I enjoy going on Tuesdays for burger night, the kitchen always comes up with something inventive. Service is friendly and usually don't have to wait too long (if you do, head across the street to the Gaslight for a drink). While I didn't find any of their beers to be incredible, they were consistently good - and in my opinion above average for Cincinnati breweries. One thing to note is that it can get quite loud in the taproom, to the point that having a conversation with multiple people can be difficult. read more

Don't speed down Montgomery in Pleasant Ridge or you'll miss it...and you do NOT want to miss it. Beer is usually 8-10 selections, well crafted and great variety. Ambiance is very casual but hip and clean. Great place to watch a Reds game and avoid sports bar. Small patio with 4 or 5 nice picnic tables. All great - BUT THE FOOD! The food is a great variety of American and ethnic fusion dishes and it is deelicious! Scratch made and something for everyone including the kids. Btw...very family friendly, just bring some coloring sheets or games for your table. This place is a rarity. Great staff, clean, delicious beer and food. read more
