Our excellent server read my Sunday Funday vibe and recommended the very tasty Bourbon Espresso Martini, a twist on the classic that gets a little extra sweetness from the added Bourbon. So there was five in our group and we had attended the afternoon session of Beer Fest. We needed a place for dinner and discovered the Crown Republic had available so we made a reservation. Upon entering we were greeted with a warm welcome and quickly seated. Our server Allison was extremely helpful during our entire dinner experience. We are started with cocktails which were very tasty! Each of our three groups selected an appetizer. Mine was the Cauliflower and was it amazing?!?!? In fact the next day I was craving more of it. It had a delicious chili sauce which gave that sweet and spiciness. Enough that made it hard not to stop eating it. In fact I didn't even get a picture until it was all gone. I then ordered their pasta special as they make all of their pastas in-house. I also ordered a side of meatballs which were out of this world. I almost felt like I was at some Nonna's house and boy were they a great added touch to the tagliatelle pasta dish. Others enjoyed their dinners as much as I did mine. Here's my pro tip: get a side of the pickle aioli that is on the burger to dip your fries in. Delicious! Our service was excellent, overall ambience is pretty much what you see when you walk by. Mix of standard and high top tables. The one thing I will call out - the basic metal chairs that sit opposite the bench seating on the standard tables were not comfortable. I got used to it, but it was a distraction right from the start. Curious choice. We didn't really sample a variety of the menu. Some things that I would be interested in trying were the bread knots and the crab toast on the appetizer side. There were also some delicious sounding truffle mushrooms available as a side. Every once in a while, you're fortunate enough to stumble upon a restaurant that A: you haven't been to before, and B: exceeds your expectations. This place was both for Sunday brunch today. The service? Impeccable. (We got an apology for having to wait 10 minutes to be seated, but we were seated at our reservation time. Who does this? People that CARE!) The food? Delicious! The choices? Something for everyone! Add to this the $18/person mimosa service, and you have a great start to your Sunday. The pace here is rapid, but not hurried. Seats opened and were filled immediately. The volume is higher than normal, but not overly so. Seating is comfortable and you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the table next to you. We sat next to the kitchen (you can see them cooking, which I love!) and the staff was checking on dishes going out every time. Delaney was the bartender, and was filling service gaps when needed. Nate, the AM, helped us on some menu questions and checked up on us more than once. This place has an epic feel to it, like it's going to be a stalwart in the downtown dining scene.
