Really good food, big portions, nice guys, cool music! I would recommend for a good place to grab a bite. Nothing fancy, just good eats.

Good but found clothing tag in my Alaskan roll. Other then that the quality is good for the price. and the salmon seemed pretty fresh.

I have been meaning to try this restaurant for years. And so today, I did. If you didn't know that…read moreit was there, you would miss it. Directly across from the Post Office, it seems almost hidden by the overgrown brush in the landscaped areas. The positive: 1.) The cream cheese wontons are INSANELY good!! The chili dipping sauce is quite spicy, and I did enjoy it. 2.) The Miso soup had a hearty taste, which I found to be unique. 3.) I chose a Dynamite Roll as I was at a loss as to the choice to make. It was very good. 4.) Overall, the actual food entries were quite enjoyable. The "not-so-positive": 1.) This place is in definite need of a complete makeover. Paint, ceiling tiles, T-bars, lighting, flooring, etc. It felt dingy and a bit dirty. 2.) I did not go into the kitchen, of course, but I did watch the young man at the counter making sushi. Sushi is supposed to be part of a presentation/event. But you can't sit at the counter (there isn't one). You have to go on faith. 3.) The service was INCREDIBLY slow. There was a party of nine, a party of six, and several other tables ahead of me. The waitress was bouncing all over the place. Making bobas, taking orders in person and over the phone, busing a dish or two, probably doing some prep and plating in the kitchen, and who knows what else. She was seemingly stressed. 4.) Oh, they also chose Sunday night (which is typically a quiet night, per the waitress) to train two new employees. Oops. 5.) Oh, I did not visit the restrooms, probably I was better off if I were to guess. But a big "shout out to the young man making bobas, drinks--his 3rd day. As I was waiting, I was watching. Besides the drinks, he managed the till, bussed a dish or two, and had a very polite, pleasant personality--the star of the show in my opinion. Oh, and Grandma (you know who you are - 3 grandchildren), please get your head out of your cell phone and get your grandchildren under control. They were really, really disturbing to everyone there. Will I go back? There's no other choice if I want Japanese again. Adrian is a small town.

Insane gem in Toledo. I do have to say "no, SERIOUSLY" when I talk about this spot to friends and…read moream generally met with (understandable!) skepticism that sushi in the Midwest could be so phenomenal. 6/5 stars. The omakase is a must experience for any foodie and especially for anyone who loves sushi & yakitori! Came here for the first time 4 years ago, and again a few weeks ago. What struck me is that the same head sushi chef was there then and now and that they haven't really changed the menu too much. Yes absolutely there were new and creative twists, but there are tried and true staples which have been mastered. That feels like their vibe overall - friendly, neighborly, confidence in what they have and will keep doing what they're doing, seemingly resisting any pressure to expand or get bigger. It's perfection! The omakase menu has three phases: chef's kitchen, yakitori, sushi (gorgeous nigiri courses finished with the most insane cut roll I've ever had). Everything is delicious. No misses. My favorite phase is the sushi. We STARTED that off with the most melty buttery otoro. I thought that was bold, surely it could only go downhill from there. I was proved wrong bite after bite!! Seriously, imagine a series of nigiri bites that hold their own after the BEST. Of the yakitori, the chicken meatballs were my fave, so juicy never change. Highest quality, well crafted, expertly executed menu. Lowkey I also love that this omakase ends with the most delicious cut roll, and not dessert. As a savory girl through and through, this is perfect. The onlyyyy downside is that all the rich food gives me a bit of a stomachache afterwards :D. 10000% worth it.

Had I had come a minute later there wouldn't have been a table. The fish tasted really fresh. One thing that caught me off guard was the ambiance. It had more of an American pub vibe w very little Asian decor, atleast from what I saw. Also just a tad bit over priced, would I come back? Maybe. This was the most expensive sushi in the city but quality is there.

We had an excellent time at this place, which was honestly exactly what we needed after sitting…read morethrough long work meetings that slowly drained our will to live. When the meetings finally ended, we were starving and in desperate need of real food. Surprisingly (and slightly concerning), this was one of the only restaurants around. The area itself is pretty quiet, mostly hotels and a few food spots, so when you find a good one, you commit. From the moment we walked in, the host greeted us warmly, which was already a great start. Since this is a teppanyaki spot, we were seated at a shared table they were working to fill, standard hibachi rules apply. While waiting, we ordered drinks because... obviously. I went with the lychee martini (pronounced Lie-chee, not Lee-chee, gotta respect the fruit LOL), and my colleague ordered the sweet plum. Both were delicious, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. Next came the must-haves: edamame and gyoza. No notes. Just solid, comforting appetizers that did their job while we waited for the main event. With our meals, we were served the consommé soup and the salad with ginger dressing, and let me just say, that ginger dressing deserves its own fan club. So good. Once the table filled up, the show began. Flames, flair, knife skills, and all the hibachi magic you hope for. The chef was super entertaining and clearly knew how to keep the energy up. The staff overall was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel fun and welcoming. Bonus points for the fact that I spoke the language, which led to a mini conversation about why I was randomly in the middle of Michigan, always a fun topic. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Good food, great service, and a much-needed post-meeting morale boost. If I ever find myself back in that part of Michigan, I'd absolutely come back, hopefully with fewer meetings next time.

We came in as a large crowd without a reservation. There were seven of us total this time. Service was much faster! Was it because the restaurant was almost empty? Maybe! But what I will say is all of our sushi was perfect. The appetizers were hot, the options were endless. The server was on top of all of our drink and food request. The black pepper, tuna, the short ribs, and the crab Rangoon were some of the best appetizers I have had. Not the best for all you can eat, not the best for quick serve, but some of THE best. I am hoping it wasn't just that it was dead, but that they actually have a better rhythm and service pace. If I had had a bad experience this time around again, it probably would've been my last visit. I am looking forward to coming back to Koi again. We ordered probably 10 alcoholic beverages between the table, at least 10 appetizers, and around 12 sushi rolls. We never sat without food. Our table was bussed almost the second we finished our plates, and our drinks were always full. They must've heard all the complaints and the music was turned much lower, we didn't have to yell above what sounded like club music. There was not as much of the overstimulating strobe light flashy dance club effect. The restrooms were spotless, the sushi bar was well staffed.

Always great food and wonderful service ! I love the dancing tuna and the salmon avocado roll.read more
