I took them apart and realized the filling for all of them was at least 50% tempura crumbs. I have never had that in any rolls I have ever eaten. So basically to stretch the more expensive ingredients they use tasteless oily filler. Gross and not stated in the menu. I get that the price of goods is way up but tricking your customers into ordering something they are not going to actually get to save your business money is bad business. Whatever salmon I did taste in the spicy salmon roll was chunks of stringy salmon scraps which were of dodgy quality. TLDR: maki here is just kitchen scraps rolled in rice and nori. Not tasty. It has this intimate, neighborhood Japanese restaurant vibe that reminds me so much of stumbling upon a sushi spot in Kyoto.
