I have been meaning to try this restaurant for years. And so today, I did. If you didn't know that it was there, you would miss it. Directly across from the Post Office, it seems almost hidden by the overgrown brush in the landscaped areas. The positive: 1.) The cream cheese wontons are INSANELY good!! The chili dipping sauce is quite spicy, and I did enjoy it. 2.) The Miso soup had a hearty taste, which I found to be unique. 3.) I chose a Dynamite Roll as I was at a loss as to the choice to make. It was very good. 4.) Overall, the actual food entries were quite enjoyable. The "not-so-positive": 1.) This place is in definite need of a complete makeover. Paint, ceiling tiles, T-bars, lighting, flooring, etc. It felt dingy and a bit dirty. 2.) I did not go into the kitchen, of course, but I did watch the young man at the counter making sushi. Sushi is supposed to be part of a presentation/event. But you can't sit at the counter (there isn't one). You have to go on faith. 3.) The service was INCREDIBLY slow. There was a party of nine, a party of six, and several other tables ahead of me. The waitress was bouncing all over the place. Making bobas, taking orders in person and over the phone, busing a dish or two, probably doing some prep and plating in the kitchen, and who knows what else. She was seemingly stressed. 4.) Oh, they also chose Sunday night (which is typically a quiet night, per the waitress) to train two new employees. Oops. 5.) Oh, I did not visit the restrooms, probably I was better off if I were to guess. But a big "shout out to the young man making bobas, drinks--his 3rd day. As I was waiting, I was watching. Besides the drinks, he managed the till, bussed a dish or two, and had a very polite, pleasant personality--the star of the show in my opinion. Oh, and Grandma (you know who you are - 3 grandchildren), please get your head out of your cell phone and get your grandchildren under control. They were really, really disturbing to everyone there. Will I go back? There's no other choice if I want Japanese again. Adrian is a small town. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Numazu Delights. As soon as I walked in, I was met with hot, stale air. There appeared to be no air conditioning, and several dusty fans were blowing throughout the restaurant, which did not inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the environment. I also noticed what appeared to be a dirty prep table with flies buzzing around the food preparation area. During my visit, I observed a young employee cleaning with a dirty rag and, without changing gloves or washing his hands, picking up an avocado and placing it back into the prep refrigerator. From my perspective, this showed a lack of attention to basic food safety and cross-contamination practices. The most concerning observation was seeing an individual I understood to be the owner's husband handling food while having multiple open, weeping sores on his legs that were clearly visible. As someone who values proper food safety standards, this was alarming and made me uncomfortable. Based on what I observed, I have no intention of returning. My experience raised serious concerns about cleanliness, sanitation, and food handling practices. read more

This is a strange little restaurant in Adrian. The staff was quietly friendly. We placed our order and waited for our order, looking around the restaurant. It is almost gawdy decorated but we are probably not the target audience for this restaurant (I assume they are aiming more for the teens and 20-somethings). It took about 15 minutes for our miso soup to arrive. Way too long given we were the only table in the restaurant. Our entrees arrived about ten minutes after that. My bento box was good but everything was copiously covered in brown sauce. It was just too much. It was a decent lunch but nothing I would seek out again. read more

This place is a bit of a hole in the wall but they do serve some pretty decent Japanese fare, especially considering their location in a small southern Michigan town. They used to be in a small shop in front of the library, but they relocated (or expanded, not sure) to a different building across from the post office on East Maumee that used to be, as far as we can remember, a food pantry. I'm guessing they did this to gain more space. The interior is tidy but in no way elegant, as it is reminiscent of an undersized school cafeteria. And they have displays set up around the perimeter stocked with Japanese fare. But they do have some tables at which to eat and they offer some pretty good options. And I say this as someone who's been to Japan several dozen times...I tend to judge Japanese food relatively stringently. The service is walk-up-and-order, but they do bring the food to you when it is ready. The menu offers some familiar Japanese favorites along with a few creative options. And they also have a Boba Tea counter, which is a plus. My wife and daughter were with me on this occasion. My daughter got the Beef Ramen while my wife had the Sukiyaki. They both felt like their selections were on the bland side. This is where adding Sriracha would be a good idea if this bothers you. I had the Spicy Mayo Teriyaki Chicken with Sriracha Mayo, so mine had some good flavor. I really liked my choice (and so did they when they tasted it). So I guess the lesson is that you have to be somewhat selective in your choice based on your tastes. We also had the Michigan Roll as an appetizer and that was likewise very good. The final bill with three entrees, two Bobas, a regular tea, tax and tip was in the neighborhood of $45. At about $15 per person, it was a reasonable deal. I'll be interested to go back to try some other things off the menu. read more

I love this place. There is nothing fancy about the place, but the food is amazing, the service is impeccable, the bubble tea variety is huge, they have games on the tables, and they also sell some cool tee shirts. The owner is so kind and she has trained her staff well. The japacos are so tasty. The flavors in the white chicken stew are mouth-watering. I love trying the daily specials. My most favorite thing are the potatoes that come in the bento box. The owner said it is her mom's recipe. I'd love to know her secret for how she packed so much delicious flavor in a potato. My adult children are now huge fans of this place too! They love that they can get amazing food at such reasonable prices. read more

Very nice and friendly server but the food was disappointing and the atmosphere is like being plunked down into a messy child's playroom!! This is just my opinion, other people may enjoy the randomness of the setting and enjoy the food. So if your adventurous give it a shot, you may like it more than me! read more

My daughter and granddaughter have been fans since they were on Winter St. The workers always remember who they are and take time out to greet and chat. We love the boba tea and trying different snacks from Japan. Prices are good and they try to keep the atmosphere fun and entertaining. read more

Amazing selection of authentic and Japanese inspired menu items. I strongly suggest dining in rather than take home as some of the items don't hold up well. My girlfriend and I try to eat at Numazu at least a couple times a week. Try some of their unique beverage offerings. The only reason I don't give Numazu 5 stars is because of the decor and fixtures. Definitely could use help. read more

Ok, I admit that I'm a snob. My friend and I came to Adrian, MI to spend the night after seeing the eclipse at a park in Tiffin, OH. I looked at both another app as well as Yelp to find a nice place for dinner. I offered my buddy the choice of Mexican or Japanese. He chose the latter and off we went to Numazu Delights. We're both urban foodies and home cooks, accustomed to better restaurants and exceptional global cuisine. Numazu Delights exceeded our expectations beyond the delicious food. It's a truly casual restaurant, for the patrons, at least. The owners and staff were working quite hard while we waited for our orders. It's a husband and wife owned germ that is never hurried. Food is prepared to order. The selection rivals most Japanese restaurants I've ever been. As expected, there isn't the variety of fresh fish one would find in a major metropolitan area. However, through creative combinations of proteins and flavors, Numazu delivered our wonderful dinner. We shared an order of shrimp Shumai. My buddy then had a bento box that rivaled anything one gets in a major metropolitan area. I ordered a bowl from the extensive ramen menu along with a spicy tuna roll topped with avocado and more tuna. We were so pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful Japanese restaurant in Adian. One more thing, the husband, schmoozes with the customers while his wife cooked and supervised the kitchen staff. He helped us to the best Crab Rangoon ever. It's such a comfortable, relaxed restaurant! I don't know if I'll ever be in Adian again. But, if I am, this is the first place i would visit. KUDOS to the whole team. Thanks. read more

Found this place on Yelp while in Adrian wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in. Being an adventurous guy who's eaten in much crazier places than an old library I decided to give it a try and so glad I did! The Michigan roll was excellent they don't use spicy mayo to add heat this lighter more flavorful glaze really highlights the superior blue fin tuna. They used to be in the library but are now located between Wendy's and the ford dealership across from the Lenawee county library. Eating here is like eating homemade Japanese food. It isn't fancy or elaborate but the food is good and the people friendly. They have other assorted Japanese snacks, drinks and desserts. I do not recommend this restaurant. My coworker and I both ordered ramen, one chicken ramen with pork added and one vegetarian ramen. Both were disgusting. The chicken was chunky and looked fake and the pork was from a tender loin, thickly sliced. Veggie ramen had a small amount of veggies. We also had the fruit rolls, which had frozen squishy fruit surrounded by a lot of rice. Boba tea was way too sweet. We will not be eating here again. read more
