The booths are enclosed so they are quiet. You can have a conservation without shouting. After seating we were brought chips & (red) salsa. The chips were thicker, but the salsa was more flavorful than we usually get in SE Texas. We ordered house frozen margaritas, machaca enchiladas, and crispy relleno & cheese enchilada. In Alamosa, Nino's the place to go whether just passing through, or if you're a local. Basic satisfying Tex-mex with good service, large portions and reasonable prices. Driving through Alamosa, Colorado from Redondo Beach, California. Stopped at Nino's Del Sol restaurant and got the worst surprise of my life!!! Our waitress brought chips and salsa, which was very spicy. I asked for a more milder enchilada sauce, which I was told was NOT spicy. SO FAR from the truth!!! That sauce was even more spicy!! I ordered the machaca burrito, and got the spiciest machaca I've ever eaten!!! Tried ordering guacamole, and was told there were jalapeños in the guacamole!!! The waitress told me all dishes were spicy!!! I ended up ordering a Hamburger AT A MEXICAN RESTAURANT!! The only item I WAS TOLD, was not spicy!! very disappointing!! The owner & Management should cook and serve items that Everyone can enjoy. I won't be coming through Alamosa again for a while, but when I do, I WON'T be dining at Nino's Del Sol!! read more

The good: Delicious food!! The owner was AWESOME!! The restaurant was tidy, we loved the ambiance. Booths are private which I absolutely love. 5 stars for the food and the restaurant. The bad: Our waitress (Selena) was very inattentive and quite rude.I hate to say it but we were very disappointed with her service. She was short, unfriendly and rolled her eyes every time she walked away from our table. She acted as though we were an inconvenience and didn't care whether we came back or not. Nino's accomodated our group of about 40 when another Alamosa restaurant didn't come through for us even though we had reservations. The staff was very friendly and accommodating on such short notice. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed the food they ordered. The menu is pretty standard Mexican fare. I ordered a steak chimichanga and had them make it "California Style" with French fries inside. Holy dang! It was ridiculous. Restaurant is clean and nice inside. My husband and I have eaten at Nino's many times. It is a popular Mexican restaurant In Alamosa, CO. We've had their chile rellenos, steak enchilada, and burritos. They're not bad, they're actually good, but somehow missing something, I don't know what. Taste needs a little more oomph! Service is always excellent as the servers are at the ready to take your order, serve your meal, take your plates away, put leftovers in to-go containers and provide your tab. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Alamosa. Tonight I came in and I sat at a table for 50 minutes before my food was served. The food was very lackluster. I ordered a chicken chimichanga with mild green chile. It was blah/bland and I left part of it on the plate. The chips and salsa aren't a flavorful as they used to be, either. What a shame. We were en route from Albuquerque to Pueblo, and stopped for gas in Alamosa. It was noon, so I asked the gas station attendant for a recommendation - he said, Nino's next door is really good. So we went to Nino's, and it was great! To be safe in an unfamiliar restaurant, I ordered Nino's Burrito and my wife ordered Nino's Combination. Both were very delicious! The server Dennis was super friendly and efficient, and our food came out quickly. Atmosphere was very pleasant with lots of locals. Prices were very reasonably. Highly recommended. After a hot day at the Sand Dunes we were sooo looking forward to a cold margarita and some good Mexican food. Sadly, this place did not deliver. The food and service was poor. Their house salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce and the only other "salsa" option was Tabasco. The steak in the fajitas tasted like it came from a can, the tortillas were greasy and everything else was bland and flavorless. They have a full bar but no drink menu? Probably to hide that the margaritas were $16.50! Our party ordered a few different flavors and they were all undrinkable - way too sweet and syrupy! Our server wasn't exactly rude, but he was dismissive and would leave our table as fast as he could. No offer of refills on water or chips and salsa (which we probably would have declined). Ninos use to be really great! The food is really good the green chilli. However the customer service has really went down they charge 20% tip for a party of 6 or more they count a baby as number 6. They bring your food then you never see them again. The last time we had a lady she was super rude in a bad mood you could tell she hated her job. Ate there last week on passing through, as it was recommended by a tire store where we were getting a flat taken care of. Had one of their flavored lemonades, being the mango lemonade. Was great. I wish I could get it where I live. Had a burrito for dinner. As with most places, the servings are huge, and I had enough for breakfast the next morning. Two reasons for rating it down. The salsa that came with the chips was mediocre. It was like they watered it down to make it go further. Every time I dipped a chip in, it left a trail of runny salsa across the table and onto my clothes if I wasn't careful. I had to use my one napkin to clean up the mess on the table created by the salsa Service was also spotty. Maybe they were short-staffed that night, but reading other recent reviews, service seems to be a problem. There seemed to be only one person attending the bar and waiting tables, although there was another person whose job seemed to be to just seat people and bring chips and salsa when you sat down. We had been done eating for about 15 minutes before the waitperson came by to check on us, although she could be seen just standing around at times. We asked for two to-go boxes. That took another 10 minutes before she brought those, although she could be seen during that time behind the bar, looking at receipts or some other paperwork, although she wasn't taking them to customers. How much time does it take to walk to where the boxes are and walk back? Maybe 15 seconds both ways, or 30 seconds total from where we were sitting? What was more important about paperwork than taking care of an immediate 30 second need of customers???? We needed to be on the road, and that was 25 minutes wasted. Overall, entrees and mango lemonade were good. Salsa is mediocre. Service was bad, and from reading other recent reviews seems to be a trend. read more

Nino's is consistently delicious! All varieties of chimichangas and burritos have been delicious- chorizo and bean, adovado, bean, bean and potato. Both the green and red chile are wonderful. The green comes in mild, medium, and hot and the hot is perfect - not so hot that it hurts but tasty. The enchiladas lil Juan are wonderful- served with an egg on top. I love that you can have a fried egg served on top of anything- nothing better on top of chile and cheese. Also, they have Stella on tap! The new restaurant is lovely- spacious and clean. My only complaint is that it often seems to be understaffed at lunch and service can sometimes be slow. read more

For being in business 21 years, this place was very disorganized. A huge group may contribute to that. Memorial Day weekend may contribute to that. But after 21 years those kinks should have been worked out. The line snaked around the salads. Then you had to bypass the desserts and get into another line for the Mexican food. Excellent! Don't miss this restaurant - they're on the corner of Main Street & Denver Ave. Great margaritas accompany some fabulous green chili. My husband is usually disappointed in the level of spiciness at most restaurants when he orders hot, but this place did not disappoint, hot means hot and it's so good. 7/10/19 went through Alamosa again on our way home from Lake Navajo and had to stop for lunch. Still love this restaurant. Husband got fajitas this time with a fire hot roasted jalapeño. Very generous helping of steak, most places have more veggies than meat. Got two orders of cheese enchiladas, one with red and one with green. Both were great, you can't go wrong with either choice. Green chili was so good I had to get a quart to go. read more
