Walked in for dinner had a few minute wait. Several TV's playing sports, tables, high tops and counter seating to choose from. I ordered the California chicken club. The chicken breast was a little stringy, the bacon was not freshly made. The bun was soft and fresh, the guacamole was tasty. It also came with tater tots, which were perfectly cooked and served hot. My husband ordered the dirty South burger which consists of burnt ends, Mac bites, coleslaw, cheese, and bacon, bits. He said it was one of the best burger he has ever had. To complete the meal, we ordered a caramel cheesecake to share. It was very light and fluffy and very tasty. It could have used a little more caramel sauce. We were told that the owner makes them fresh daily.

With a menu selection the size of a bible, I chose the dirty south burger while my partner went with the california chicken club. Our waitress, kendri was extremely hospitable even providing constructive feedback when quizzed. Results: 1. The burger was a lifetime top 10 of all time! Prepared a perfect medium well while the onion rings, bacon, coleslaw, and finally american cheese blended deliciously. Additionally, the burnt ends was juicy, thick and firm which complemented the chuck blend. 2. The chicken was just average: salty and stringy indicating it may not have been fresh? However, for both selections the tater tots side selection were excellent : hot and cripy. For dessert, we shared a $12 slice of caramel cheesecake. - a signature item. Although it did not disappoint, beware its not considered NY Style (ultra thick and super creamy / sweet). I would apply the name "western style" as it was fluffy, light and airy.

Fresh, flavorful, and filling - best meal we've had out in quite a while. Service was top notch too. Green chilis in the Philly set it over the top. ... I'd be back weekly if I lived in the area.

We were passing through town and needed a good meal We were blessed to find it here!! Welcoming, incredible staff and excellent food. If we are ever in Alamosa again, we will make a point to stop here.

Had a "slopper" here today. It's a burger patty on a bum that's covered with green chill. THe burger was slightly overcooked, when I'd specifically asked for medium rare. Additionally, the green chili that smothered the burger was abysmal. It was flavorless and the sauce was watery and thin. Cannot recommend this restaurant. As this is the San Luis Valley, which is rich in the Latino culture, there is no excuse to not make a decent green chili!!! The restaurant is a cute place that has great potential. They won't achieve that potential until the owner does a complete revamp of the recipes being used and brings in a Chef who can produce delicious meals worthy of the grossly inflated prices being charged here. My sister had the Patty Melt , $19 and my slop was $18. This was the "cash" price as the charge an up charge to use your credit card. In reviewing the current menu on their website (10/2025) Ruby Slipper has almost doubled their prices. I hope this restaurant reads my review and makes the necessary changes. The people of Alamosa and the surrounding area deserve better!

Top notch! Food service and ambience! And hand made chocolate slippers! We loved it! We were in town for business and loved that we found this place

    Roast beef sandwich

Read reviews of this establishment. It is a bit loud only because chef calling out orders and we were right across from him. Restaurant is very clean especially grills. We had mushrooms as an appetizer. WHOA- huge and beer battered- delicious. Definitely big enough for 3-4 people to share. I had the steak and shrimp tacos which was tasty. Had a side a mashed potatoes which was fine. My friend had the roast beef sandwich with green beans. Delicious- just like my mom use to make. The waitress, manager, and young lady clearing tables were super friendly. We were stuffed and didn't have any of the cheesecakes.

Excellent service, great food, and has a hometown diner feel. As far as the desserts we tried the cheesecake and the chocolate slipper and they were delicious. The steak and shrimp were also good. Conveniently located in downtown Alamosa.

So many reasons to make The Rubi Slipper a must-do meal in Alamosa. The service alone is so kind and welcoming that it would be alright if the meal was subpar. However, this is not the case. The burger menu is a full page - we ordered the incredible burger, which includes two burger patties, a mozarella stick, pickle and comes with fries. The house salad is made table side, and customizable however you like. We also ordered the shrimp tacos, topped with the tastiest of sauces. And do not leave without trying their cheese cake flight sampler!! Chocolate banana cheesecake was our favorite despite our initial skepticism.

This is not medium rare steak. It's super chewy too.

Came in here on my first day and wanted something fresh... out of the whole delicious menu, I ordered a Greek salad with chicken, not expecting much. When it came out, I was so surprised to see so many huge chunks of cucumbers, bell peppers, artichoke hearts! The lettuce was crunchy and fresh! And the CHICKEN! Thinly sliced and breaded, it was perfectly cooked, had a nice crunch, and hot like it just came out of the pan! It was a delicious and hearty salad that waaaaaaay exceeded my expectations! My coworker got the MBP sandwich -- it was HUGE and he had a great review for it too. Made for great leftovers. My second time here, I ordered the Greek salad again with chicken! I have no doubts the rest of the menu is amazing, but that salad and chicken was too good. The garlic bread and spicy watermelon marg I tried were so tasty too. The vibe is chill, relaxed, and the service is great too. I only wish they had the antipasti salad for me to try!! Seems great, but sounds like not enough people order it... that's a shame, because I'm sure it's freaking delicious. This might be my favorite place in Alamosa! I would highly recommend to all other tourists.

I found the coffee to be decent and the sandwiches themselves were okay in terms of flavor, but the prices felt rather high for what we actually received. My main disappointment came after half a day of strenuous activities in the park when we finally opened the packaging to find teeny sandwiches with really small portion sizes. Even after eating them, we were still quite hungry, which was frustrating since we needed a filling meal to keep our energy up. While the quality of the food and drinks wasn't bad, the combination of high prices and tiny portions just didn't deliver the value we needed for a park day.

I like veggies and was absolutely thrilled to find more side offerings than the usual fried stuff. My burger and side veg were really good! The Hubs ordered one of the mac-n-cheese dishes and didn't seem thrilled with it, but said it was OK. They seemed a bit understaffed, but kept checking in with us to say that they'd be with us shortly. And they were. It wasn't a long wait. Maybe I should note that we were here mid-week around 1 PM or so. They didn't seem too busy, but this looks like it might be a small operation. When we arrived, however, the aroma of a barbecue restaurant across the street convinced us to eat there instead, so we stopped in here for drinks only. I ordered a flight of six craft beverages , and all were above average. My favorite was the blackberry cider, which stood out for its excellent flavor and balance. I also appreciated that the beers were locally crafted and that the brewery offered a seasonal selection of specialty brews. We arrived right when they opened at 11:00 a.m., so the atmosphere was quiet and uncrowded. While the service was adequate, it lacked enthusiasm and did not leave a lasting impression. On a positive note, both the taproom and restrooms were clean and well maintained. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would recommend this brewery as a pleasant stop for a locally crafted drink.
