I have seen Dr. Garcia a few times. I could not give a higher recommendation to both her and the supporting staff. Everyone treated me both kindly and respectfully. On each occasion I was seen promptly. Frankly, I don't mind waiting in a medical office as, at times, I know doctors meet unexpected situations that take more time than could have been anticipated. I found Dr. Garcia to be exceptionally considerate and caring. I liked that. But she is also a terrific diagnostician. She studied my situation as opposed to jumping to a quick conclusion. She is very efficient, but I certainly have never felt rushed. And I appreciated that she helped me with a prescription problem on her day off! This practice is a terrific place. read more

My dermatologist was on vacation but my rash/hives were spreading rapidly. I called Dr. Carla Nip-Sakamoto on her cell on Saturday because the office was closed. She was on vacation but was willing to hear my problems with my rash. She explained to me about the rash and gave me instructions of how to use the Atarax. I don't usually write reviews but I felt I needed to today. I called the end of January to book an appointment for my son and was told by the front desk that first available to see Dr. Nip was April 1st so I agreed to book that appointment and wait for 2 months to see her because she came highly recommended. In the meant time I scheduled an appointment with another provider Dr. Sasaki for February so that my son could be seen sooner while we wait for Dr. Nip appointment in April. I called today to confirm my appointment and was told that I didn't have one and that her next appointment for a new patient won't be until July, but she no longer takes new patients. The front desk staff was rude, she insisted that he had an appointment in Feb that I cancelled because he was sick. And that Dr. Nip doesn't take new patients. She talked over me the whole time. I should've read the yelp comments to start off with because waiting seems to be popular at this office. Waiting two months for a non existing appointment for my son. I guess I saved some time waiting hours on end in the office for future appointments. I value my time just like everyone else, so if I have an scheduled appointment, waiting 1-2 hours to be seen is not worth it. read more

Dr. Nip Sakamoto is the best. She is clinically competent and collaborative, with excellent bedside manner... all the things I look for in an MD, and exceptional for skin health issues. She is also the best MD on Oahu to see for aesthetic procedures such as dermal fillers, injectables, resurfacing, etc. I bruise easily, but do very well with Dr. Nip Sakamoto's technique for dermal fillers. She has the ability to use a cannula, which is less traumatic, thereby reducing chances of bruising. I am very pleased with my recent injection of Voluma, via cannula, in temples and cheeks... immediate "wow" factor, more youthful look, and still continuing to improve several weeks later! I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Nip on 3/31/2022. When I called her office I had to dial 1, which transferred me to "Scheduling." "Scheduling" would not give her name when she answered the phone. When "Scheduling" answered the phone, she asked for my date of birth, name, and insurance. I told her I had Traditional Medicare plus Supplement. She asked which supplement, and I told her Blue Cross. She asked for the policy number of the supplement, then said Dr. Nip refuses Medicare. I asked why "Scheduling" didn't just tell me up front that Dr. Nip refuses Medicare, and "Scheduling" claimed that Medicare Supplement determines what kind of Medicare a patient has. This is a lie; Medicare is a federal program, and there's only one traditional Medicare. But rather than argue with "Scheduling" I just hung up the phone. I find it almost impossible for Dr. Nip to refuse Traditional Medicare plus Blue Cross Supplement, because they are the gold standard of retirement insurance, and Dr. Nip claims to be a strong supporter of the Kapuna community. But Dr. Nip is the one who chose "Scheduling" to bring in patients and money, so it's her loss. read more

Given her all stars because she's indeed the best of all time. Been seeing her for likely more than 10 years or so. She's really really a great and good derm Doctor even her staff. Every one of them they're very accommodating. I feel the love. But sad to say that I can't see her no more since I moved in Las Vegas. But who knows I might see her if I'll go to Hawaii, I just love Dr Carla. Besides of very accommodating doctor, she's sooooo nice and very helpful in telling you about what to eat,take, avoid to eat and precautions! Sorry Doctor Carla, I didn't call to say I had moved :( I truly proud of you being my dermatologist. You instilled good points on how to take care of my problems when I was your patient. My spouse called for an appointment to check out a mole on his back. He'd never seen Dr. Nip-Sakamoto before this. Upon hearing of his concern, her staff booked him an appointment to see her within a week. She examined the mole, & found nothing unusual; however, she noticed another mole on his back. Due to her expertise, care & willingness to spend more time with my husband at that appointment, that mole was found in its early stage to be cancerous. This melanoma was removed by one of Hawaii's top skin-cancer doctors by referral from Dr. Nip-Sakamoto. We are grateful that her staff got him in quickly, & for Dr's expert recognition of a cancerous growth, quick lab testing, follow-up & referral to a top surgeon. read more

I was referred to this office by my surgeon after developing contact dermatitis from steri-strips at incision site and the rash had spread over my entire body. After sitting in the waiting room for well over an hour, Dr. Garcia made a point of letting me know that I was cutting into her regular patient time then barely glanced at my skin. She prescribed a steroid cream and I was out in less than 5 minutes. Then she kept the office staff busy with nothing related to my appointment preventing me from checking out so I could go back to work. The cream did calm the itching that was making me uncomfortable. However 1 week later I was in the ER with a severe infection. I have heard great things about Dr. Nip-Sakamoto, but she should maybe council Dr. Garcia on her arrogant bedside manner and possibly educate her on customer service. My time is just as valuable as hers and it was wasted. read more

I have been going to see her for years now. It is a little bit hard to get an appointment if you are a new patient because she isn't always accepting new patients. However, once you're in your'e golden!! The great thing about her is that she often tries a lot of the new creams / lotions herself and then recommends what she finds to be helpful. She is VERY knowledgeable, but is able to break down the problem / suggest solutions so that I can understand them. I went to her recently and described some allergy pill i was taking with some drowsy factors (and it wasn't anything normal like allegra or claritan) and without even using a cue card she figured out what I was talking about! She is always very informed about the new medications available and takes time to re evaluate your progress and the meds you have each visit to see if they are still effective. read more
