Dr. Gill was my third attempt to find someone to help me get rid of my "wall-to-wall" skin tags on my neck and face. Third times a charm. In our 30 minute appointment, using electro-cauterization, she removed about a hundred skin tags from my face and neck. The burnt tags fell off as predicted in about five days, and the area looks great. See photos. I went to this dermatologist a while ago, and I thought the experience would be better based on all the great ratings. Their office was new and nice, I told the Dr. what I was concerned with, she asked what kind of products I used I told her I have been trying The Ordinary brand. She then asked me what sort of niacinamide I used, I told her I'm also trying The Ordinary brand. She responded "wow, are you a rep for The Ordinary?" What the f does that mean? If I'm trying out a brand then it means I'm a rep? I was very put-off by this encounter and during the end of the visit I went to their counter to check-out. She started putting a bunch of her products to me and wanted me to buy them. Guess what? Her products are all very very pricey and no wonder she was being dismissive about me trying The Ordinary products. Next time, if you want your patients to try out your products make sure you don't come across as rude or dismissive. Amber Gill doesn't take insurance and it costs $250 for an appointment which I was told would be an hour long; my appointment lasted 15 min. max and she didn't ask me to fill out any questionnaires, she didn't take any notes, and she didn't listen to me well so there was some miscommunication. She prescribed a medication that I was already taking, but a very small dose. She told me I could call her anytime with questions but when I did call her, her receptionist was very rude to me and told me I couldn't speak with her because I gave her false information! Then he hung up on me. Totally not true! She seems very arrogant and when I asked her if she thought I would recover from my skin infection completely, her answer was "If you believe". I also wanted to show her some pictures but she didn't want to look at them. What a waste of money and time! read more

Didn't have the best experience here. The doctor didnt seem very familiar with a skin rash I had on my arm and treated me with a medication that made it worse. Just to be sure i didn't have an allergy to the medication, I applied the cream over different areas of my body as a control. When question the doc kinda backpedaled. They seem to have a lot of beauty care patients so maybe that side of their business is great, but my experience for dermis care wasn't. A visit to Dr. Gill was so worth it! I am on the Kaiser network and was suffering from an unknown ezcema condition for over 8 months! After 3 visits to my Kaiser Primary physician, I finally had a referral to a Kaiser Dermatologist with a wait of 1 month! I decided to pursue an out of network doctor to get treatment and it was the best decision I made. I had a consultation with Dr. Gill and with her expertise and prescription regime, I noticed a vast improvement in 3-5 days. I'm still finishing up my topical/oral treatment but I was so grateful I was able to quickly book an appointment and get in. I love their website and online booking engine. Also their standby policy is awesome, most offices wouldn't do that. I first got an appointment about 1.5 weeks out, but due to a cancellation, I was able to quickly and easily rebook to an appointment within 3 days! I was concerned about a dark spot that appeared on my lip a year ago and wanted it examined and removed. She was able to remove it and I didn't feel a THING! My lip healed quickly and she called me back in less than a week later to tell me that the biopsy came back normal- Woohoo! She is a very good listener and educator as well! Dr. Amber Gill is fantastic. She immediately eased my anxiety about some random spots that appeared out of no where and some other skin issues I had for my skin. She immediately addressed everything and does a full body scan for moles spots etc. I felt very comfortable and very happy with her as my new dermatologist. Things to know. Parking is easy. On the first floor. They are located on the 3rd floor. Check in on an ipad. Immediately saw the doctor. No wait. It cost $150 per appt and Dr. Gil fits in everything in the appt. they do not take insurance but you could always try taking the receipt to your insurance to inquire. I have to admit. I would rather pay direct and get changes, results and just reassurance of my skin then use my healthcare to go see a dermatologist who pushes you through their office in 10m. Barely addresses your issues and makes you feel like you want to go to another doctor. I plan to make another appointment with Dr. Gil because she offered in my next appt yo help with the superficial skins issues like these sun spot tags on my neck and face that wasn't my reason for making the appt but was something I always complain about to myself but never do anything about. It's been a week and a day since this 67 year old skin had its first micro needling and every time I look in the 10x mirror I'm amazed. Large pores on my nose have been an issue for decades along with fine (and deep) lines around my lips. These two issues have greatly diminished--just in the first treatment. Overall, my skin is tighter, smoother and has a healthy glow. Dr. Gill is a complete professional, has flawless skin (which she modestly admitted was the results of "lots of work"), and has a lovely sense of humor and sense of being. Everything she told me would happen after the treatment, happened exactly on the day she said it would and exactly in the way she said my skin would react. She reviewed my skin regiment and approved. Best of all, she has some of the products I use at a much lower price. I know where I'm going to purchase my next round of C & E serum...and she has some neck creme, that flies off her shelf because it's so popular with her clients. I definitely want some of that as well. When I first heard about micro needling I was sitting around a pool in Waikiki celebrating my birthday with friends. We started chatting with others who were visiting the islands and one was a nurse in a dermatology clinic on the mainland. She recommended that I get micro needled and gave me some very good advice that I'd like to share with you. She told me not to go an esthetician to get this treatment, that it is best to go to a medical doctor. She explained that the depth of the needle into the skin is the critical factor in the treatment's efficacy. It has to reach a certain depth to stimulate the collagen, and only doctors have the credentials to go to that depth. It was great advice! Yesterday my skin was pretty much healed and I received a number of compliments on how fantastic it looked. I quickly and easily was able to book online, and the confirmation you receive was extremely helpful and detailed in showing you where to go, parking, and all details of your appointment. Great touch! Check in was simple and easy. The office is beautiful and extremely clean with a 180 degree view of Waikiki/Diamond Head. Dr. Gill was extremely sweet, very helpful, and 100% transparent about her consultation advice and recommended treatments. She was able to clear my skin issue immediately and prescribed me with a regimen to clear my acne which has worked wonderfully! As for payment, the consult is $150 no matter what. However, Dr. Gill and her husband, Shad (who's the receptionist), assist you in creating a form to send to your insurance for reimbursement, and it was a breeze for me. Arrived a little early for check-in and from the waiting area I immediately noticed the attention to detail from the office's interior design and decor. Various modern artwork adorns the office walls, and one gets a feeling of open space and minimalism. As for cleanliness, the office is spotless. Check-in went smoothly. Dr. Gill and the office manager were very patient and welcoming. At no point during my visit did I feel like I was being hurried along. Additionally, I was relieved that Dr. Gill did not use oversimplified language to communicate - a less than favorable condition present with other professionals when speaking to clients. I Cancelled an appointment because I tested positive for covid, they charged me $80 as a cancellation fee. I emailed disputing the charge since I was covid 19 positive and was willing to provide proof of a positive test. They called back and left a nasty voicemail indicating that the reason for cancelling did not matter but never replied to my email as I did not think they were comfortable putting what they said in the voicemail in writing. The front desk person was VERY rude when I called back and asked for an explanation as cancelling was the responsible thing to do and requesting they waive the charge. The receptionist indicated I should seek care elsewhere if I did not agree with their policy. The receptionist then went on at length lecturing me on the phone about why the cancellation reason did not matter despite my requests to please just email me a follow up explanation as I had a high fever from covid-19 and even talking on the phone was difficult. I had been to see Dr.Gill several times in the past so I was a returning patient and had never missed or rescheduled an appointment In the past but I will be taking their advice and will be seeking care elsewhere in the future. I couldn't believe this is how they treated a returning patient, so much for attempting to have an on going doctor- patient relationship. This was the WORST I've even been treated at a healthcare facility and they offered ZERO compassion during this difficult time. I went to go see Dr. Gill a few months ago after reading all her amazing reviews. I went to her for my acne problem that I've had since I was a teenager. I'm 30 now and still my acne is a problem so I decided to go to her to see if she can help. I was very disappointed with my experience. I felt like she gave me the typical "advice" when it comes to acne treatment which I've told her in the past hasn't worked for me. She prescribed me a medication which made me very sick, had me use benzoyl peroxide face wash which completely burned my face and made everything red, peeling and extremely painful. I don't know why she prescribed me something which I've told her in the past didn't work for me. But I wanted to trust her because she has such a good reputation. I called to explain what happened. They told me to stop taking the medication and the peroxide wash. I emailed her later and asked if there was any other topical treatment we could try or a natural supplement I could take to help, and the response I got was "not that I can think of". Seriously??!?! It's like she didn't even want to do a little research for me. I was very upset with this response and I tried speaking to the manager about how upset I was saying I basically spend over $200 for just advice that didn't work with no follow through and he said "well...what did you expect?". Wow... I still kept using the other topical treatment she recommended...its been several months now and no improvement. I really wanted to trust and like this business but my experience has been very disappointing. Its like they didn't even try to help me beyond the typical advice you'd give anyone which I explained hasn't worked for me in the past. I can't speak for her other services of skin care but for acne, she has been NO HELP! I wont be going back. Very sad.. read more

Being a first timer never having seen a dermatologist before, I was a little nervous on where to start when I was researching. I came across Honolulu Dermatology when I was google searching for dermatologists on the internet, and I was really drawn to their website. The pictures of the office looked great, and there was a lot of information regarding the services they offer, booking your appointment, and transparency on the cost of your visit. Then I searched Honolulu Dermatology on Yelp, and I was blown away by the great reviews from everyone about their experience. I emailed to inquire if my needs could be addressed at the facility, and I received a prompt response on how I could book my appointment and treatment options could be explored during my visit. I had my first appointment with Dr. Gill today! First off, scheduling was super convenient! You can go online to their website and find an accommodating time and date right away. They email you reminders and explain everything to you very thoroughly! Finding the office is really easy. It's located right on the corner or McCully and Beretania Street. Once you take the left after the KFC it's the blue glass building. Going into the building, parking is available on the first and second levels- make sure you sign in your license plate and her suite number 3C! When you first arrive you'll meet Shad, Dr. Gill's husband who is super kind and friendly! After quickly filling out my forms on their iPad, I saw Dr. Gill right away. She addressed all my issues with my skin and made suggestions of different treatment plans and a daily routine I could do for my face. She explained things very well and I felt very comfortable and at ease with all her knowledge. The only thing different from other offices that Honolulu Dermatology does is that they take a $150 office visit fee but they are totally able to help you file an insurance claim for your visit so you're able to get reimbursed! read more
