SCAM!!! Paid $230 and I never stepped foot inside their building Booked a $200 consultation appointment and they canceled last second. Rescheduled the appointment 2 weeks later to which they canceled again last second. Decided not to keep trying anymore because it's a waste of time. I tried to get the refund to which they declined. That was in October. Today I just received another $30 bill for services that weren't even given. read more

Shelbi Jim On is the aprn at this office. She has a crappy bedside manner has no personality whatsoever. It's apparent that she thinks extremely highly of herself. Too bad there are providers like this out there. Healthcare should be patient-centered and not about how much money you have to pay if you want to get treated. That's what medical insurance is for. This nurse needs to learn about how to treat each patient on the whole, including how to help each patient navigate their insurance benefits. I loved Dr. Matsuda when I used to see her routinely a while back. I had bad acne in high school. However, I recently called to make an appointment to check a ruptured cyst and the receptionist told me I would have to be put in as a new patient and they weren't accepting new patients right now. How do I suddenly become a new patient just because I haven't been there in a few years? That was really annoying to have to deal with. read more

I've gone to Dr. Matsuda for over 20 years. Love the new digs. Much nicer set up at this location than her office on King Street. This one has non-confusing, ample parking (Kaheka was confusing as hell! - which lot is the one that she validates?) The offices are brand new and there are plenty of seats in her new waiting room. It also seems she's staffed up and taken on a new partner doctor, which is great when she's on vacation. Also, recently, they've just started texting and emailing appointment reminders, which is AWESOME! However, she's often booked up so be prepared to have a long wait for your booking - often 3 weeks before she can see you. I'm sure that if its an emergency, they can squeeze you in (I've never had dermal emergency, so I don't know). read more

I've seen both, Dr. On and Dr. Sheu. Their bedside manners are disappointing, even pre-Covid without the mask. I always feel very rushed and I feel like they don't want to take care of all my skin problems all in one visit. They always want me to return and continue the process when it could be taken care of in less visits. If you do go to them, just make sure you speak up and tell them you are not done yet and you have other issues you need to discuss. If not, theyre going to drag this out for as long as they can, and it's never a pleasant visit. read more

I came in for a full body check up for skin cancer. I came prepared in bikini under clothes so she can check ALL parts of me exposed to sun. I told her I surf as well. She just stood and looked at my arms and legs and said I was good. This is pre covid and she didnt hold my arm to even look closer. She didn't check the rest of me....under my clothes. I told her about me wearing a bikini under to see everything and still this is considered "full body" check? If i had a mole the size of a watermelon on my back she wouldnt have seen it. So I told her helper that dr didnt check my full body and she needs to come back to re check. The dr came back (irritated) into my room saying she did a full body check already and did the exact same thing and left! Second time and still no change after being told what was wrong?! At that point I knew she is not listening and caring. Im writing to warn people of her lack of professionalism and lack of care. read more

Dr. Shelbi Jim On is new to this practice but practiced in New York while her husband finished his residency. They are from Manoa. She is a delight, extremely professional and yet you feel extremely comfortable in discussing any concerns and she welcomes discussing and addressing all concerns. The entire staff here is pleasant, courteous, extremely helpful. I had seen their excellent reviews on yelp in the past and I can confirm the accuracy of those stellar reviews! They validate parking, office is easy to find, they accommodate my work schedule. I have never had to wait when I arrive for my appointment. They will text you your appointment confirmation to your smart phone which is fabulous! Also any questions or concerns I often can text with an immediate reply making my life so easy! I was recommended by health clinic. When I arrived for my appointment I was asked to fill up some forms. After a short wait I was ushered into an examination room and asked what I wished to have looked at. I asked for a full body check but I was instructed that I could only have one spot looked at person visit. At which point I elected to have a spot on my back looked at. And was told it would have to be cut out and then caturized. Which left me with a huge ugly scar . The visit cost about. $160 Plus another $200 for the removal. I would not recommend this clinick. What kind of care is that. When you are told the doctor can only look at one spot! read more

Awful service, especially for new patients. Was made to feel humiliated for asking questions about pre-cancerous moles. As a highly educated female, I found the insurance policies and inability of doctors to answer questions quite appalling. I was referred to Stella Matsuda, and told that she is one of the best dermatologists around town. After visiting her several times, I do agree that she is knowledgable, however, the amount of time that is spent with her is extremely limited. Her assistant comes in first and goes over your medical history, and then asks wants to know if you have any medical concerns, at which time I explained what I was there for. Time spent with the assistants are longer and more personal than with Dr. Matsuda. I had asked her why the corners of my mouth were darker, and she replied it's your toothpaste! Well, so the next question I asked was, "So if there any cream or something that could lighten that area, and she responded...."Every time you brush your teeth, rinse off the toothpaste around your mouth!" Also the age spot/sun spot on my arm that she burt off (not sure what type of tool she uses) left a scar. She is a nice doctor, however, she does seem a bit rushed and she doesn't make me feel comfortable asking a ton of questions. It was mentioned to me that you can ask a few questions per visit? Hmm...interesting for the amount of $$ I spent here. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Matsuda for at least 15 years. She's a great dermatologist and really cares about her patients. The staff is also really nice and greet me by my first name. She's usually booked so if you're a new patient it may be difficult to get an appointment with her but definitely worth the try. Funny thing is my face has clearly aged 15 years but Dr. Matsuda looks like she hasn't aged a bit!!!. Must be because she's an outstanding dermatologist! :) read more

Yes Dr. Matsuda is a good Dermo but it's so hard to get an appointment, and although I may not go all the time, it doesn't matter I guess how long I've been seeing her, they told me this last call since I didn't go for three years they are to treat me like a new patient. Mind you I've been going for over 35 years since she pretty much started on her own. It's always been quite difficult with the ladies in front and I guess now it's just as bad or even worse since they can't even take care of the long time patients, it doesn't matter at all. I just left from having a hydra-facial with Ansje - what a great job she did and my skin seriously looks better! This would be great for anyone like me, who wants to look younger but would also work well for any age. I have been going to Dr. Matsuda for yrs...only when needed...but I wanted to make a appt again for a follow up...I didn't say I really needed to go in today but asked if there was any opening today or tomorrow...responds I got was, Dr is in only for 1/2 a day and it only has to do with cosmetics and they are off tomorrow....so they gave me a squeeze in for the following wk...but whoever came on the phone sounded like I was a nuisance and made me feel bad and hurt so I decided to call my MD and ask them to refer me to another dermatologist...I think the people in the front makes a big difference on staying with the Drs. read more

Totally agree with J.C. I had the EXACT same experience and definitely don't recommend her. To add to J.C.'s review, the last visit I had they just ushered me out without scheduling another appointment. Guess they gave up on the diagnosis. Don't get the helpful, personal feeling that you would want in a doctor. She needs to allot more time with each patient instead of making them return for multiple visits. She doesn't seem to realize that each visit requires another payment, more time off from work, and longer treatment time. Oh, the staff isn't that friendly either. read more

My father in law has been going to Dr. Stella Matsuda for several years and we were appalled to learn of the comments she recently made to him. He has had a problem with eczema and has been prescribed several different medications, including steroids with no avail. When he told her that he didn't want to take steroids any longer, since it was affecting his liver, she asked if he wanted to do a biopsy. He asked her if there would be any side affects and she replied, "you can die". Such an inappropriate comment coming from Doctor. Later she asked him how old he was, (you would think she would have that information on her records). When he told her his age, Dr. Matsuda replied, "How long do you expect to live"? Such an offensive comment and very inappropriate. My father in law was very offended and upset and could not believe what Dr. Matsuda said to him. She should not be in practice helping patients and maybe I should ask her how old she is and how much longer will she be in practice. read more

love this place. ansje is the aesthetician that did my hydra-facial. she was great and made me feel comfortable. super quick procedure (and also i was early to my appt and i didn't even have to wait to start). the pain is basically non-existent if you're used to getting facials. and you get to see all the junk and oil that is extracted after. but most importantly i look amazing my skin was glowing for days after i got choke compliments :) will be back for sure. thanks ansje! read more
