Most of their food is à la carte. It's a little pricey and most of the time you need a reservation. The food is very good. Wine selection is good. Nipotes is a small family owned Italian restaurant and I truly love it. The atmosphere is relaxing and super cute. We started with the burrata appetizer and it was delicious. Their red sauce is my absolute favorite. A lot of red sauces are too sweet for me. Nipotes is perfect. I had the penne bolognese as my main. We loved this cute little Italian place. Service was great & food was tasty. We made a reservation & there was a nice corner spot ready for us when we got there. My husband orders a Caprese panini, I ordered the Orecchiette with broccoli add chicken, our youngest got the kids mac n cheese and our older son had the grilled chicken. Everything was delicious! A very unique storage container turned into an authentic Italian restaurant downtown Muskegon. To start, I understand the poor reviews and used those to know what to look for. It seemed that they have adjusted some things that people have recently complained about. It wasn't an amazing 5 star experience, but we definitely enjoyed our dinner. We got right in on a Thursday night and there were only about 4 other tables taken. The staff was extremely friendly and inviting. We started out with the bruschetta and bread basket. As others stated, it was strange that the bread basket wasn't complimentary and didn't come with any oil or butter. Luckily, we had the bruschetta to use the bread with. I had the Penne Carbonara, which is my favorite classic Italian dish. It was an accurate representation of the dish although the sauce was overpowered by the egg. The pasta was cooked perfectly but the sauce took the level of the dish down a bit. We all ended with gelato and a cannoli, which was from a local place. They also offered to dip the cannoli and a few different options and I chose chocolate chips. Overall, the portions are small for the price point. The atmosphere and the entire staff were fantastic. The chef checked on us as well, which is great. We would definitely come back because we see the potential. read more

Neat little Italian Restaurant. Glad the we stopped in to give it a try. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Our table chose the Tuscan Farmhouse Salad and the Cacio e Pepe, my favorite. Also at our table was the Tuscan Soup, a creamy kale and potato soup with sweet sausage. With the lunch combo we added a Sausage & Pepper Sandwich. There was no room for desert, but we were presented with many plates to choose from. Cute little place with many tables to sit. My husband and I went to Nipote's last weekend. We were 45 minutes late to our reservation because our kids struggled to let us leave the house. We walked in about 20 minutes before they closed, and they were SO lovely to us! Our server was such a delight. She encouraged us to relax, take our time, and enjoy our meal without worrying about the time. She made the best Aperol Spritz and Negroni that we've had since having them in Italy & the pasta & steak were fabulous. We had such a good experience here! The food, the atmosphere, and the staff were all excellent! The food was amazing. I had the mushroom ravioli, and I'm still thinking about it! We have a newly walking toddler that does not liked to be pinned down, and the staff was extremely patient and sweet with her wanting to be mobile. As we are new to taking a toddler out to restaurants, we really appreciated the patience and understanding they gave us and our daughter. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Right away I noted the wonderful ambiance. For a winter day, this place was warm and inviting, with a gracious host, approachable chef/owner, and super waitress. I skipped the appetizers and went right for the main course. For my main I had the mushroom ravioli, with sweet & spicy sausage. It was divine, creamy goodness. No one flavor overpowered the others. Perfectly cooked. I asked if they got their cheese from the Cheese Lady, (across the lot), dumb question, of course they do! One cannoli... followed by another... only because I forgot to take a photo of the first one. The cannolis had a delicate, flaky crust and a traditional ricotta filling. I topped the ends of mine with crushed pistachios. So good! I came here on a whim since I was in the area. So glad I did! Last thing... this was as good as Osteria Rossa in Grand Rapids, for 1/2 the price!!! read more

Really cute and cozy spot to grab a casual date night dinner! Ended up here when the wait at the speakeasy was over an hour and we were hungry. Excellent friendly and speedy service, we really never had to wait to ask a question or order anything. Light atmosphere with a great view of the kitchen (and there's even a giant thriving fiddle leaf fig). Very wide variety menu with ample beverage options as well. -1 star just for a variety of reasons: prices seem high for portion size, bruschetta was just cherry tomatoes cut in half (rather than smaller dice tomato pieces) with slices of toasted bread on the side, lack of complimentary fresh breads with olive oil, no olive oil/balsamic vinegar/salt/pepper on the table. Honestly, those are all incredibly minor complaints related to my own personal preferences for an Italian restaurant. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area craving some Italian food. read more

Really lovely place! The salads were a great combination of flavors and the the appetizers were delicious. The portion of my spinach burrata salad was just right with the sausage (not the mention the sausage was perfect.) I tried something new with the eggplant rollatini and I am so happy I did because I keep thinking about it. They do a great job with Italian desserts too, I used to work at a gelato shop and I loved the affogato. (Not pictured.) I'm happy to see a place like this in Muskegon. The staff is so friendly too. I'm trying to go back whenever I'm in town. If you're looking for bottomless breadsticks and soda, go to a typical chain restaurant or something. Their food is much better than a couple Italian restaurants I've been to in Ann Arbor, and even NYC. read more

Major bummer. Set up a reservation for 16 people for a post graduation. Small place but staff was very accommodating and made it work. (Can't say enough kind things about the waitstaff!) Food was not great - chicken Parmesan tasted like it came out of a frozen box of breaded chicken pattys. Spaghetti and meatballs were bland. Eggplant rollotini was ok. Burrata appetizer was good. I had a basil gin smash - and it was literally a piece of basil in a glass with gin and soda. Not tasty. Owner/manager was very rude - unpleasant tone, not willing to accommodate, wouldn't let us cut a cake that we had brought in for our celebration, just seemed sour in general. This small Italian restaurant is located in a storage container! You can literally see the entire kitchen from any table. The restaurant is close enough to everything that it still definitely feels like 'downtown'. (Doesn't matter though, cuz I'd drive to wherever this restaurant is.) The ambiance is cozy and light. (If anyone asked me, I do think a medium dark emerald green on one wall may be additive to the atmosphere. We were here at night, so maybe it's be too dark for the day?!?). As a table of four we had appetizers, wines, cocktail, and four different entrees. We had no room for dessert. All were delicious! Truly could not decide what to order as so much looked so tasty with olive tapenades, caprese salad, etc. My hubby ordered the Tuscan (kale and potato soup) and that was yummy and I, the burrata. The burrata was a bit one-note and somewhat difficult to eat, but still good. The crostini was the star. We also ordered bread which is several crostini and olive oil. The olive oil is to die for! Entrees included a suggested mushroom ravioli (that I didn't even get a taste of!), a pesto cream sauce pasta dish (a special), shrimp scampi, and a spaghetti with cheese and peppercorn. The shrimp scampi looked light and yummy and the spaghetti noodle dish was reportedly delicious with chucks of roasted garlic cloves. My husband devoured the ravioli dish and I very much enjoyed the basil cream sauce dish. They ran out of the noodle, but I gladly opted for a pappardelle. I saved some of the olive oil from the bread and drizzled over my dish I tried a cocktail and several had red wine. I wish I could remember which 'Etna' wine we liked because there was a clear winner. My cocktail was light and tasty. I thought prices were all very reasonable. We were sat by the owner's wife and our server was lovely. Everyone was knowledgable and we did not feel rushed. We didn't even realize we had stayed a half hour+ after closing. A few other staffers brought our meal and checked on our drinks, cleared out table, etc. and all felt like 'family'. Great service (and clean). It was a fabulous experience and we will be back.
