Always our favorite for special events. We celebrated my daughter's birthday there and they had no problem refrigerating the cake during our dinner. The owner always comes up and introduces themselves. The service is good. The lobster pasta has changed a bit from season to season this time. It was a pretty heavy sauce, still really delicious but different. We had a 2 1/2 year-old with us and she was a little feisty, but everybody interacted with her and all was well. Honestly just the worst service I've had at a restaurant in the last 5+ years. Food was fine. Sat in waiting areas for 30 min past the time our table was supposed to be ready. After we asked, they told us they texted us 20 min ago, but their WiFi went down so we didn't get the text. Sat at table for 10 min before anyone brought us water. Appetizer came out with our plates to eat it on. We had to go to bar to request our cocktails after the appetizer was served. Waitress wouldn't acknowledge whether she actually owns this table. No one ever came to refill our water glasses Food was good. But not worth the price given the complete lack of service. Again, I don't want to say the service was bad. I would just say there was literally no service. Complete lack of service. We felt ignored from the moment we arrived. Like we were an inconvenience to the entire staff. Would have been better if it was a to-go window. Lack of service completely detracted from the entire experience. After a round of golf with my 2 sons, we headed over to Notos to have a birthday dinner for one of my sons as his girlfriend's parents wanted to treat him. When we arrived, we Sat immediately as my son's girlfriend and her parents were seated As we looked over rhe menu I decided to get rhe Mushroom Risotto and a side of mashed potatoes. My youngest one wanted to get the Fire Roasted Peach Salmon. As we ordered, we made the server aware of his severe allergies. We asked if any of the ingredients had gluten, soy, eggs, peanut, tree nuts, or sesame. She was unsure and mentioned that the Rissoto in the dish is made of wheat. I asked if she was sure cause I was pretty sure it is made of rice but who knows. I also pointed out that the menu had a gluten free icon next to the dish. She was also unsure if any other allergens and she needed to check. She verified and we ordered it. When the food came, everything looked delicious. Halfway through my Mushroom Rissoto, the risotto suddenly was hard and under cooked. Really weird, so I didn't finish it. Also, for an Italian Restaurant, I thought we would get some Italian Bread while waiting for the food but we didn't. Very odd in my experience in going to Italian Restaurants. Overall, the views of Lake Michigan from the restaurant were awesome. The restaurant is on the beach. I was disappointed in the service and food. I gave it a 3 since my son enjoyed his food. I expected a bit more knowledge from the server. Also, I was looking forward to bread and olive oil but did not get any which was unusual in my experience in Italian dining. read more

Having been there many times I knew it would be good and the best view of the lake and n a nice evening but tonight was different. It was the best meal we've had there ever! Correy was busy but gave great service, the restaurant was busy but Nicole, the manager, got us a table. The salad was a roasted peach was was unique and amazing. The starter was a caprese dip with toasted fresh bread that blew my mind. The pizzas even tasted better but the Spritz hit the spot. Having a great sunset made it even better all around. read more

Terrible experience here...:would give zero stars if I could. Walked in at around 6:30. Waited a while before drink orders came out. Finally was able to order entrees. Waited over an hour with a 6 MONTH OLD BABY for our food to arrive!! Food was mediocre and totally not worth what we paid. Turkey wrap and burger looked good. Chowder was tasteless. Perch was average, mashed potatoes were suspect. Everything we asked for we had to wait for. My husband left the table to order his drinks at the bar because it was quicker. We were in before the evening rush had begun, so being slammed wasn't even a suitable excuse. Server acted as if this was part of the privilege of eating here. When we complained, the smug manager told me what they could not control and what they wouldn't do to make up for this experience rather than telling me what could be done to rectify the situation. And offered no apology. In the end, our bread service and soup was removed from the bill. But it doesn't make up for the ridiculous amount of time we were forced to wait. And to add further insult to injury, we had to wait another 30 minutes or so for the check after having just complained about the wait...again...with a 6 month old baby. Got there early about 3 PM and sat outside. Our server Sid was great. Took our drink orders in a timely manner. We got our cocktails and ordered Calamari for the table. The calamari was not very fresh tasting and the dipping marinara sauce was tasteless and flat. Cocktail sauce would have been much better. We each ordered separate pizzas. We all liked our pizzas. I had the mushroom truffle pizza and I liked it. None of the pizzas was outstanding, but I think the mushroom truffle one was best. The best part of the whole experience is without a doubt, the view. We got to watch the Kite surfers doing their thing and it was fun to watch. The Hugo Aperol was really good, but then again, it was $16. read more

I always enjoy coming here, sitting on the deck and having a casual meal. Service is always good. This last trip I ordered the meatball appetizer and it is outstanding ( a little small but great flavor) . I got the Pastrami sandwich. It was huge and the best pastrami I have had, and that includes some famous New York delis. Notos does it a bit different with very thick slices that were fall apart tender. I should note that I split both of these with a buddy and it was the right amount for two guys. The wine list has some great deals on it. I inquired about what the well or house brands were, and they would be a call drink at most bars. People complain about the prices but given the location and how seasonal things are here I have zero complaints. Parking can be an issue, so be prepared to walk over from the county or state park during prime time. If your wondering about the menu having italian dishes on the beach the owner also operates a very respected italian restaurant in Grand Rapids. read more

Went on a Valentine's day, so it was of course busy. Nonetheless, we sat at our table several (5-10) before seeing a server. We didn't get water for another 10 minutes. It was at the point that a server from a nearby table noticed us on our phones, asked if we'd been seen. Kind of understandable for a busy night. Given the wait, we had plenty of time to review menu when given the chance to order. Our drinks came out separately. Then I was almost done w/ mine before the meal came. About midway through the entree, I requested another drink: which came 10 minutes after finishing the meal. Server did acknowledge the wait and apologize, but the timing was off all night. About the food: overall a meh. Both entrees were under-seasoned. I did expect more flavor from a $60 filet. I also had the feeling that it sat under a heat lamp while we waited, as the medium-rare steak had a fine sear but the middle was a little more browned than pink. Similarly, while the old fashioned was executed properly, it lacked anything to make it stand out. Even the smoke (a $2 upcharge) was uninspired. We did stay for dessert. Her chocolate torte was ok, but since they were out of cheesecake, I tried the tiramisu: still frozen hard, the mascarpone lost it's light airy texture and the overall flavor was one-note. On the bright side, had we been seated before dark, the view of the lake would have been terriffic. read more

Downgrading our previous review. We have eaten here several times in the past year. After our visit on 6/19 (before tourist season really kicks in) we won't be back. Arrived 6:40 after doing the waitlist. Told 10 min wait but waited 55 min. Seated around 7:35, took 15-20 min for a waitress to come after we asked for a server at the bar. Service slow and they weren't even that busy...were told we got pushed back behind everyone else. Food finally came out at 8:30...but no appetizer that we ordered. Food was ok and our experience was awful. Seems that the falling ratings on yelp and google are reflecting inconsistent and poor experiences from others. We asked that the appetizer be taken off our bill and if the manager would consider a discount on the bill. The manager did come over but had zero people skills. After trying to explain the struggles of running a restaurant for 5 minutes without addressing or apologizing for our screwed up order and 2 hour frustrating experience, I gave him my card and just asked him to stop and run the card so we could leave. Noto's was on our restaurant rotation...but no longer. You can take a chance that you catch them on a good night, but don't count on that. Look through the recent poor reviews and you'll see common themes. read more

The pizza sounded so good, wood oven, so right away I was in! The margarita pizza, I was expecting to have real fresh mozzarella on it and more basil, idk it just wasn't that great! The mushroom pizza tasted like the mushrooms were not cooked through, very very chewy, and they were not too generous with the topics on the pizzas. Lots of crust and not enough cheese. The 2 pizzas took 45 minutes, when I went it the place looked pretty empty so not sure why it took so long. Idk maybe the other food might be good here but the pizzas were meh, nothing special, dough was a bit hard and dry, it just didn't hit the spot for us unfortunately. I have mixed reviews. I decided to come here because my team did an evening, catered event here a year ago and it was nice. I wanted the ambiance of the beach which this place definitely has and you are paying for it. I had the perch meal. It was good but to be honest $36 for fried perch, fries, and a very small side of coleslaw is too much but it's the atmosphere. Service needs work! When I came in, the waitress saw me and kept going ( it felt like an eye roll) so after waiting, I went up to her and she said there's other servers when I told her I wanted to eat outside. Once outside, the server was kind and on it right away. However, it took a long time for the waitress to come take my order and even get the check to me. I regularly eat out and I countless organizations with talent for a living so good customer service stands out. Although she was kind, the long waits need work. I am a firm believer in how you treat people will come back to you! I debated putting a post about this place on my professional account because the message is powerful for all the companies I help. However, I want this place to just do better because the food is good and most of the people are nice. It definitely lacks in diversity and I was the only different person in the place. As the world continues to change and talent becomes more difficult to find, these places need to work on efficiency and quality customer service and inclusion to survive. read more

This is about the worst you can get as a restaurant. We waited about 10 minutes by the "Wait to be seated" sign, just for someone to come up and tell us to go outside to get on the waitlist. The host then out there was extremely rude and snobby. We proceeded to wait 30 minutes for our seats. Finally got seated and got some ok chips and salsa. We got a margarita pizza and a pepperoni pizza. The margarita was sad. It looked like a cheese pizza with slices of tomatoes on it. It also came out with no basil on it because they said they were out. Terrible service, terrible quality of food. The only thing saving this place is the view. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Beautiful day to take a ride up to Grand Haven. Found this restaurant open and on the beach. Parking lot for guests is not very large but decent size. You are able to access the building without steps. I did see stairs to the left when we walked in but we were seated on the first floor right next to the window where we had a great view of lake Michigan, the beach and these really nice outdoor gas fire pits available to sit at. We were greeted promptly and asked for our drink order. There was a featured bourbon drink that was a marshmallow s'more cocktail with chocolate, bitters, and a graham cracker crust around glass that my husband ordered and I was pleasantly surprised when I asked if they could make me a lemon drop martini made with limoncello. They said yes and knocked it out of the park. I had NOTOS Beach Chowder to start. It was a broth based soup that was a good balance of veggies and seafood. Nice to take the edge off while I waited for my meal. I ordered the perch and fries. My husband ordered the truffle and mushroom pizza. The perch was lightly battered and crispy. Meal was also served with coleslaw. My husband really enjoyed the pizza. Thin crust and delicious blend of cheese and mushrooms. Our waiter was fantastic and handled the situation very well let me just start there. But we waited close to 2 hours for our food and the restaurant was 50-60% capacity. Once we got the food it was nothing to write home about and one of the pizzas came out burnt to a crisp. It ended up being removed from the bill credit to the waiter/manager.
