First time here, in the door we found it quaint , neat and clean. The staff was verynicexand friendly. We found good menu choices. My ordered the Chicken Tika Masala which her only real complaint was the chicken was huge chunks as we like it cut down more. I ordered the fish massage which was ok, they use salmon and I was expecting a white fish as salmon has a strong flavor and took away from the masala sauce. All in all good food and we will go back.

Pretty impressed by the food in the small shopping Plaza. My friend ate here the night before and liked it so much she wanted me to try the next day. I got the lamb vindaloo and the meat was extremely tender and the sauce was super flavorful. Pretty reasonable pricing as well for the portions they gave you. The only thing I wish was better was I asked for extra spicy and there was barely any spice in my food. Also they did not give you any bread with the meal. I'm used to having naan on the side.

We came here for a nice birthday lunch and left very happy. We ordered samosas to start which were very good and perfectly cooked. They come with two sauces, a chutney and a green spicy sauce. I prefer the green sauce but both were very good. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and the lamb briyani. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also ordered one roti and one naan for the table as no bread comes with the meal which is a bit disappointing. The average cost of entree is $15-18 so a little cheaper the some of the other local places but still a bit high in my opinion. The serving size is a good portion, we definitely had left overs! The interior is very nice and clean, and the service is friendly and quick to help.

One of the better Indian food joints for real. Solid chicken tikka masala and fish curry. But truth be told it is their naan that stands out! Garlic, onion, or normal - seriously the best naan in the region no joke. Highly recommend!

Lacking flavor! Got Karahi, no spice whatsoever. Just a bunch of onions. Lassi was way too sweet. Naan was good.

The food ordered was delicious. The chicken momos were moist, juicy, and flavorful with a spicy sauce that complimented the momos. The thali with chicken was delectable. The restaurant has nice decor and a promising selection of menu items, but the execution of the traditional dishes fell short of my expectations. The Highlights: Timmur Chicken Wings: Absolutely amazing. The flavor profile was excellent and easily the best part of the meal. The Disappointments: Thukpa: I have very fond memories of this dish, but this version was highly disappointing. They altered standard ingredients and added fish oil, which is definitely not characteristic of traditional Nepali Thukpa. Momo: While the dumplings themselves were okay, they were let down by the sauce. What makes a Nepali momo superior is the specific, vibrant momo sauce (achar), but the sauce served here looked and tasted like a generic, store-bought version. Overall Verdict:While the menu features an appealing variety, the execution misses the mark on authentic Nepali cuisine. It has great potential, but they need to stick to their authentic basics.

The place has a warm, comfortable feel--nice décor, good lighting, and enough space that it never feels cramped. I've been for both the lunch buffet and regular dinner, and the food has been consistently good. Their butter chicken is reliably creamy and well-seasoned, the garlic naan comes out soft and fresh, and the lunch buffet has a solid rotation of dishes that actually hold up under the heat lamps. Nothing is trying to reinvent the wheel, but everything tastes the way you hope it will. Service has always been friendly and attentive in my experience. They're good about checking in without hovering, and they've been helpful when I've asked questions about spice levels or recommendations. It's not the most adventurous Indian restaurant in the DMV, but for a local spot that's convenient, consistent, and doesn't disappoint, Royal Tandoor does the job well. It's the kind of place I end up recommending to friends and family when they ask for a reliable option close by.

Sometimes, there is just so much to say that one is left agog -- and so it is for me with this place! I've been several times and to say I've never been disappointed with anything here at all would be an extreme understatement. I just don't quite know how to best sum it all up, so I have hesitated and put off writing this review. It is a place I know I can go to with much anticipation and have my high expectations upheld. The name is very fitting! Some places may say they are royal, and you could be left feeling ... less than that. This is not that kind of place. You will be made to feel like royalty here! The delicious dishes and their presentation is ... just wow! Nothing here is ordinary. Everything here is spectacular! I've tried so many things, I cannot remember them all -- but I do know that I love the Dal Makhani! It's one of my all-time faves, being so rich and creamy, mmm .... The Mango Lassi comes beautifully presented and literally dripping in dark orange goodness against the lighter milky-mango look of yoghurted-up blended mango ripeness! (Don't worry, the drips are all inside the glass!) The starter crunchy rice crips are very fun and tasty, as well. It's overall just really exquisite, what can I say? Very highly recommended -- a total, all-around Yay! :-D

When we were seated, the host lit a table candle. We immediately received water and a plate for sharing of crisp papadums with what I think was a mango chutney. The crackers were crisp and flavorful and the chutney was delicious. A great start. We ordered two appetizers to try them: Mulligatawny soup ($8.99) - a very nice portion came in a bowl accompanied with two cups/spoons. We each had at least two small cups of soup from the one portion. Excellent soup. Samosa Chaat - ($10.99) - another very nice sized portion for sharing. And also excellent. A bit spicy and very flavorful. Entrees: Lamb Shank - beautifully prepared. Accompanied by rice. We both were surprised it didn't come with some vegetables on the sauce (like a few carrots), but the lamb itself is very flavorful. Yellow Daal - it's good. I likely wouldn't get it again as it was fine, but not great. Nothing wrong with it, but everything else was so flavorful and distinctive that this just seemed "fine". Chilly Garlic Naan - should have gotten an order of regular naan or garlic naan. This was so spicy that it was unpleasant to eat. My partner and I both like spicy food, but the spiciness interfered with our enjoyment of our entrees. Again, it's not the fault of the item - it's more of a warning that the spiciness is overpowering. I assume other people like this, but I prefer something that complements as opposed to overpowers (to me). Service was excellent throughout the meal. Full from the appetizers, we took most of the entrees home. Probably will discard the naan, unfortunately. Again, maybe you'll like it. I'm really glad we came here and will be back again.

It's not fancy on the outside, but the food and service were just first rate. We started out with a delicious mango lassi and pretty good chai hot tea, then launched into an apps round of chicken momos and veggie samosas. I was very excited to see they served momos, as we've both been big fans at other Himalayan restaurants for a few years; these were just as good, being light dumplings with a savory filling and served with that deeply flavored yellow chutney sauce. The samosas were better than most we've had, with a lighter envelope and less potatoes in the filling. Included were the sweet dark chutney and the green cilantro-based chutney. We also tried the rosemary garlic naan and the onion kulcha, both fresh, soft and hot. Our mains were the lamb saag and Madras chicken curry, both excellent -- the lamb tender in a creamy thick spinach sauce, and the chicken curry big chunks of white meat in a memorable savory stew. We didn't specify spice levels, and the curry was zippy but perfectly palatable for both of us. This was a lot of food, and we continued to enjoy it as leftovers for the next few days. For all of this, our bill came to only about $75 before tip. The restaurant was quiet when we were there, with one other large table occupied. The service was quick and attentive. The atmosphere is spare but clean. We'll be back!
