Yes currently there is a massive Rail Construction running right down the whole front of the shopping center making it difficult to access for many drivers who avoid the area but little many know that they do have an entrance in the back as well on Kaumualii Street. With lots of free parking that alone is a great reason to visit this location as they have many eateries with Zippy's is the largest along with Egghead Cafe, Ahi and Vegetable, Elvin's just to name a few along with some services like Massage & Spa, Mili Nail 2 for some manicure or some fun at the newest addition Claw Kingdom whatever it is you can find it here. How about Ono Korean BBQ? If you want baked goods and/or a beautiful cake, go to Elvin's Bakery. Need some comfort food? Zippy's has almost everything! If you want a hearty sandwich, go to Machete's. Feeling like fried chicken? Check out Wing Stop. If you want halohalo or ice cream, go to Magnolia's. Craving something healthier? Try Ahi & Vegetable. If you happen to need your shoes repaired, there's a shop here! The list goes on and on... The main entrance to this dining mecca is on Dillingham Boulevard. An underrated shopping mall in the underbelly of Honolulu: City Square Shopping Center. It is…read morelocated in Kalihi...and, no Kamehameha Schools doesn't own the property. They have a little bit of everything from bakeries to grocery stores. The venerable Kamehameha Bakery opens at 200a on weekdays but most establishments open their doors between 800a and 930a. The Marketplace - a seafood and farmera market in one space - opens at 800a; they have food vendors inside if you want takeaway. Lots of eateries...a couple of salons...and Kalihi Pet Center. Four low-rise buildings make up the center spanning from Dillingham Boulevard to Kalani Street. Yes, until the rail is finished in this area - traffic is horrid. Entranceways / exits are on Kohou Street and Kalani St. Lots of parking stalls for patrons. Hours are primarily between 800a and 400p for most businesses.

I do come here for many of the business and honestly it's in The Markeplace at City Square which is the place right beside Chuck E Cheese and it's to sharpen my knives at AFrame. This area is in the midst of the crazy rail project as it's heading directly in its path for us to access yet you don't have to entree via Dillingham as the roads are nuts along with Kohou Street is closed for traffic just use the other entrance from Kalani Street as it's filled with so many great local small biz and lots of free parking it's the place to get lunch, produce shopping or just a Sip like I did at this new spot that just recently opened. Whatever it is they basically have it and I just can't avoid it even with the crazy construction going on in fact makes me want to support these biz further. Thank you!

I found many treasures here that are shareable! My favorites from the Food Court are: Fatboys 'Ōlena Hawaiian Fresh Roast Coffee Subway Some of my favorite businesses include: Aloha Fabrics Eco Town Regal Theater I appreciate the spaciousness, good lighting, cleanliness, locked restrooms (need a code for the door), and shared dining areas. It's on the calm, quiet, peaceful side... which I like a lot!

I had a very uncomfortable experience at this cinema parking lot…read more The cashier asked me "Where are you from?" without explaining the reason, which confused me. When I said "I'm sorry" because I didn't understand the question, she rolled her eyes at me. Later, she suddenly asked me to show my movie ticket to confirm whether I had just been to the cinema. I understand that checking tickets may be part of her job, but her attitude was unprofessional and disrespectful. I have been to this cinema many times before and was never asked to show my ticket in this situation. I also asked friends who work in the same industry, and they said this is not a normal practice. It is acceptable to check tickets if necessary, but the way she communicated--rolling her eyes and not explaining clearly--was inappropriate. Clear and respectful communication is basic customer service.

I guess it's because they have some key places that people go to a lot like LnL's, Savers, Pricebusters, Yummy's, Foodland, etc. It's actually a pretty nice combination of businesses all lined up if you think about it. There's a convenience store, thrift/department store, eating place, grocery supermarket place, etc. Very affordable and money friendly combination of places. What more can you ask for. They have a Taste of Kalihi Festival over here every year which makes it a pretty good area for a block party. Adding to the full Chinatown vibe around the corner is the expansive Open Market where local customers shop for fresh meats, produce, and seafood all out on full display. This seemed like a more local, authentic experience. The food shops in the building here made it feel like I was traveling overseas, from the smaller seating area and the fish market. There is a variety of foods, mostly Filipino, Chinese, Vietnamese, and poke representing. Towards the back there is a fish market, where the fish are so fresh and I guess you could say the displays were beautiful. Outside of the main food court area are some vendors. I didn't get to check out many of them, but they did remind me that of other Chinatown shops in other cities. I loved that this felt so familiar, yet was a new experience!
