We were staying at E-Central and decided to come here for a post Kings game drink and app. The staff were friendly enough and the space itself is very nice. A lot of seating. However when we tried to order the bartender had to give us a very short list of drinks they actually had in stock which was only "the old fashion, wine, and beer" but then he had to tell us off hand what wines and beers because none of the ones listed, they had. We also ordered wings and coconut shrimp. The wings were good. Shrimp was soggy and just tempura battered, no coconut. Overall if youre staying here and not picky, it'll make due lol but I think they need a menu update read more

Located inside E-Central, Nixo is the hotel's bar/lounge/dining area. However, it doesn't open until 4 p.m., which is odd. Coffee & breakfast items are available in the morning. My friend was staying at the hotel, so we stopped in at 4:30 for a drink. The place was fairly empty. I'm guessing it gets lively later in the evening. The patio area is spacious and offers a splendid view of the city, which is even more spectacular at night. I asked the bartender if they had a cocktail menu, and he said they did not because they were a "traditional bar." Ok. An answer like that tells me you are not skilled at your craft. (FYI: There are pictures of the cocktail menu on their Yelp page.) He also had a bit of an attitude. I asked for a vodka soda just to be safe. Nixo is convenient for hotel guests if you don't mind waiting until 4 p.m. for food & drinks. However, there are so many other options nearby, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. read more

The lounge is situated on the second floor of E-Central DTLA Hotel. The onsite parking is $30 for valet or self park, but we were lucky enough to find a free metered space on the street 2 blocks out on a Saturday night. The ambiance of the lounge is quite nice, with an indoor-outdoor arrangement. The patio is big with two tables seating 4-6 equipped with fireplace centerpieces and some screens for to watch the games, makes sense as the lounge is right across from the Crypto.com Arena. Howeverrrrrr the drinks were very mediocre, and they came out pretty slowly. Maybe it's meant more for hotel guests and not really for a night out. They have bar food but we didn't order any. Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'd remember to name the spot if I were to recommend hangout places in DTLA. read more

I came to this restaurant/lounge while traveling for work and staying in the adjoining hotel. It's got great views and a really cool patio ambiance, loved that. They didn't have a great wine selection but I heard the cocktails are pretty good - I had a Pinot Grigio because there was no Sauvignon Blanc and my only other white option was a Chardonnay. I also ordered the sausage fennel flatbread. The pizza was okay - it wasn't amazing but it was good. The service was fast and good, my only criticism there was that it wasn't overly clear that it was a "seat yourself but order at the bar" kinda place. Ultimately, I would recommend as a nice, quiet place to have drinks before heading out downtown. Great views! read more

Couldn't go to the Yard House because there was a line out the door with about thirty people. Apparently that was a favorite with the Eric Church fans. Beer was in abundance as we walked past their patio. Then we went in Rock 'N Fish and they had an hour wait and Rosa Mexicano had a two hour wait. Tip: Try to get to Staples Center as early as possible if you want to eat something other than the food at Staples. Anyway, by this time we were starving and as we stood at the corner of Olympic and Figueroa we saw NIXO on the second floor of a hotel across the street, so we decided to check it out. That was a great decision and we now know where to go in the future for that perfect al fresco vibe. The service, food and atmosphere were great! We shared the Lobster Mac 'n cheese and a Caesar salad and they were perfect. They had a live jazz band there and they were great. Some dancers even came out for one song, but I don't have a video. This place is really lame. What hotel bar only has house wines?? Red or white, that's it. Really? No serious bar only serves house wines. I asked for a drink menu and the bartender said they don't have one. They only have a bar food menu. I asked if it was a full restaurant and he yes and looked at me like I offended him. But they don't have any entrees and very limited options. The menu is on a small card. First impression leaves a lot to be desired. I arrived shortly after they opened and there were some employees standing by the bar, but I had gone into the restaurant area. Classy and chill place to grab a tasty bite to eat while being right on Figueroa Street, across from LA Live and the Grammy Museum. I really like the balcony view of the LA Live area - it's a way to be near to all the action but also out of the busyness. There's heating lamps so being outdoors is not a problem. I came last weekend (2/17/24) and we had: -Banh Mi Nachos: 5/5. Not greasy and I loved the twist of having wonton chips instead of tortilla chips. Tasty and everyone enjoyed it. Plenty of chunks of meat also. -Mushroom/veggie flatbread pizza (forgot the name) - 5/5 I really liked this one. In contrast to a lot of flatbread pizzas that are dry, with not enough toppings scattered on top, this one was well covered, with enough sauce, which I like. It was a creamy avocado sauce or something (instead of tomato), which I enjoyed. -Adobo Chicken flatbread Pizza - 4.5/5 you'll like this if you like BBQ chicken. -Sirloin panini with fries - 5/5 didn't try the sandwich but my brother said it was solid. The seasoned fries were fantastic - crispy and flavorful. Order at the bar or with one of the waitstaff! Would be back if was in LA Live. Located on the second floor of the Luxe City Center Hotel, it's an expansive indoor/outdoor lounge right across from the Staples Center. We decided to get some drinks and hang out for a while. I got an Old Fashioned and the hubby got a Moretti, I believe. My cocktail was way too sweet, unfortunately--I needed to keep taking sips of the hubby's beer to cut some of the sweetness. They did have a nice Yelp check-in deal though: asada fries! We requested it without the asada and they obliged--it was a good-sized order and quite good, even without the meat. We ate that at the bar and then went outside to the patio to finish the remainder of our drinks. Overall not bad, but not a place I'd rush back to. read more

Nice lounge, my husband and I enjoyed an afternoon at the lounge over the weekend. Weather was perfect on the rooftop Service was great, the atmosphere was perfect. We ordered the lobster Mac n cheese, brisket sliders, and truffle fries(shared the meal) For drinks I had a white Sangria, well I had two because it was so good. My husband had a blue moon, his go to beer. The food was and drinks was so good. Checked out the bathroom it was clean and maintained. Nixo is located inside the Luxe hotel on the second floor. We like this space to hang out at before a game. It's way less crazy and crowded than any other place around LA Live. You don't have to wait to be seated or put in a reservation. It's quiet, with a nice view of LA Live across the street. They have a limited happy hour menu from 4-7pm, but at least there is a happy hour. I think the food itself is hit or miss depending on what you get, which is why the one star reduction. We ordered: - Korean short ribs - amazing just wish they gave more - 5/5 - Heirloom Tomato and Burrata - solely tomato and burrata, would have liked some greens, but the flavor was amazing - 5/5 - Asada Fries - powdery and packaged fake tasting. Celebrated our first Valentines Day together and wanted to really like this place. Nixo Patio Lounge is a rooftop area with a small space but they seated us in the more formal opposing side of the Lounge. A little confusing, but it's fine with us. Old-school white linens with square low tops, black napkins and silver stemware with a red rose for the holiday on each table. There was one other couple in the entirety of the restaurant. That doesn't deter us. Nixo Patio Lounge had a pre-fixe menu for the holiday which was an interesting Asian fusion. The hubs and I got different options so we got to try everything. Appetizers: Calamari with Truffle Oil - Crunchy not greasy, a slight hint of truffle this was my husband's favorite. Korean Short Ribs - Too sweet and tried really hard to imitate traditional Korean Short Ribs so wasn't really fusion but more so tasted like an prototypical short rib you can buy pre-marinated and cook at home from a Korean market. Main Course: Rib-Eye with Potatoes and Vegetables - Rib-Eye ordered medium rare, came out medium, so fairly dry. Salmon over a bed of greens/corn/meat - Best part of my meal, I felt that the salmon had a nice crunch on the outside while keeping it's flavor and not being over powered by the seasoning. Didn't particularly care for the random bed of veggies and meat that it was laid on top of, that was left untouched. Dessert: Chocolate Tort-like Pastry with Vanilla Ice Cream -Unpalatable, could have eaten something better from Starbucks. Crust was stale and the chocolate wasn't well balanced as it was too sweet and rich. Overall, service wasn't horrible but they were mostly in the back and only came out to bring out the next course. This restaurant/lounge is very close to the Staples center which is convenient. They have valet parking too. The place is nice and open. Got there at around 6pm and it wasn't packed. We decided to sit by the glass balcony towards the end and that might have been the worst decision ever since our server would rarely come and check up on us. We got a few things that we wanted to try. Lobster Mac - good when still hot, I actually like the amount of saltiness in this and its pretty thick consistency Prosciutto and Brie flatbread - not really a fan of this, there's not much for the toppings and not that filling and satisfying Shrimp linguini - I love pasta especially creamy ones. This was not one of them. A little too oily maybe. I do like the toppings and amount/size of the shrimp they used here though Pink Sangria - this was a good drink I hope I had more of Overall not a bad place to spend your time in. Very nice place! Wasn't very packed when we considering it was a Saturday night, I went around 9pm and stayed until midnight and it was not packed at all! DJ played good music until he left around midnight, but the bar was still open. Bartender was also very nice and quick. NEVER. GO. HERE. This place is the absolute worst. I've been here a few time before and the service was never that great, but was at least acceptable. This last time I tried to go there weren't too many people, so my friend and I headed out to the patio and took a seat. There we sat for more than 10 minutes waiting for anyone to come around to take our drink order or bring a menu. I saw one server come around she stopped at 3 tables...ours was not one of them. I walked directly to the bar and asked a woman for a menu, and she asked me to wait a minute. Another woman came up behind me and asked for water. The woman immediately gave her a water and turned and ignored me. It wasn't until a food runner came up later that I was able to grab a menu. Alas, that was useless because waiting another 15 minutes a waitress never came around. We left after 30 minutes of not so much a glass of water and found a great pub up the street. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION EVWR AGAIN. They are understaffed and the staff they do have is rude. read more

Well, decided to give NIXO a try. I actually dined at this restaurant a couple years ago and it was great! However, tonight it totally sucked. I called ahead because I wanted to know if I could bring my dog on the patio, and I was told yes. Perfect! This is why I wanted to try Nixo again. However, when I got to the second floor to the restaurant, it was completely dead. Absolutely no other soul insight except for the bartender. I asked if the patio was open, and he said yes. I went to the patio with my dog absolutely no one in sight, great! We had the patio all to ourselves! However, after waiting for 20 minutes, need to say that it was cold, we never got service. I went to go back inside only to find out that I was locked out. After banging on the glass for a few minutes, the bartender finally open the door to let me in. Asked him, how do you get service on the patio? he stated oh, you have to order inside. Well thanks for telling me. No wonder there's no one here tonight And I can bet there will be no one any other night. I will never go back to this place again, it sucks. This is why a lot of restaurants and establishments are closing because people just don't know how to give good customer service anymore. This is why people stay home and prepare their own meals. The food finally came out, they brought out the guacamole an hour later, etc. The drinks (except for the sangria) and food were really good though so it made up for the subpar service. The patio is amazing. Location is great to stop by before a concert or before a game. The views are great as well. The patio is outdoors/indoors. I went here to see the live music with CJ Emmons. If I was just rating the ambiance and the music only, this place deserves a solid five stars....the performances were awesome! The vibe was off the hook! We even danced! Unfortunately, the service was so bad that I hope management does something to train their staff better. They let me know there was a two drink minimum and an 18% gratuity added to the tab as I was coming into the patio. This is totally fine with me as I wanted to have a few drinks. We sat on stools at the edge of the patio and tried waving at servers. At least four of them passed me by without acknowledging me. They did not seem to be understaffed, as I saw at least four people walking around and the patio is not that big. Forty minutes passed by and nobody even bothered to get my drink order. I finally got a hold of a guy wearing all black and asked if I could order some drinks. I don't do that, he says, I guess he was the bus boy. He could have gotten someone as he walked away, but he does not care and goes on to busing tables. After the hour, I am livid! Nixon Bar Lounge is located on the 2nd floor of the Luxe City Center Hotel, in DTLA. It's outdoors and can probably accommodate 100 people, give or take, comfortably. Dress code: DRESS CASUAL. The view of the city from the lounge is very nice! Surprisingly, you don't have to be miles above ground to get a good view of things. There are cabanas, a nice fire pit and heating lamps that kept up toasty as the night fell. My group of friends ordered both food & drinks, which we were all very pleased with. A lot of times, lounge food isn't very good, so this was appreciated. -Asian Pear Drink: Light and refreshing. Not as strong as other drinks I've had, but ok. -Berry Mojito: Stronger than the Asian Pear. Sweeter, too, so keep that in mind if you don't like fruity, sweet drinks. -Nixon Burger: very big! Good to cut in half and share with a friend. -Guacamame: a mix of avocado and edamame. Very good! Seasoned well, served with chips. Recommend. -Korean BBQ: ok. Good to share. The wait to get our bill was really long; 45 minutes. I don't blame our server, as she was serving the whole lounge solo. The other server went home sick, which I empathize with, but why does the Nixon only have two servers for a busy lounge on a Saturday night? What a great place to relax and enjoy live music. Great views of downtown and a beautiful patio. Asahi and Nicholas have two of the finest bartenders in downtown. These guys make the best craft cocktails and put so much attention to detail and love in every drink they make. Had my first whiskey sour today made with egg whites and I'm in love .
