We had some time to kill on Sunday, so we decided to go back. That's when I realized I must of left a whole bag of stuff at the store the day before and I left the receipt at the hotel. The checker remembered me! She saved my bag of stuff for me from Saturday. Also, there was no line early on Sunday morning. I'm definitely going back to I-80 Smokeshop and Camping next year.

I would suggest to check out all of the 3 locations that are nearby before u start coming out the pocket. Just do ur research and compare prices to get the best deal. They have a huge box of fireworks that they are raffling off if u spend 100 dollars. So make sure u drop over a bill to get ur name in the raffle. I aint gonna lie it gets over whelming trying to decide what u gonna buy cuz they have stuff that ive never seen before. They have a tv with a scanner that they let u scan a fireworks and it shows u what ur buying. I would come back next year the sales people werent pushy at all but they were helpful.

Fourth of July…read more.. We've been coming to the spark for the Fourth of July fireworks near 20 years now. They always have some fun and festivities in the park during the day. Usually live music, or broadcast radio station from inside the park. We back up to the main road, get out our chairs, and wait for sundown. Our routine usually includes making some fried chicken and potato salad and going to the lake or the river. Spend a few hours there and then head to Fernley. It is absolutely one of the best firework shows around. Not sure if it's just a holiday, but we always meet people in make friends while we wait for the show. I see they have other events here through the year, but definitely if you have not tried, come watch the fireworks on Fourth of July.

The competition here is amazing. The tide raises all ships and that's what happened here. Every restaurant tried to outdo each other. The customers were the winners here.

VC is still a great short drive weekend from Reno…read more The historic old mining town sits in the mountains southeast of Reno. And offers a day exploring quaint shops, more than its share of bars, interesting restaurants and old school hospitality. For a quiet trip come up when there's not an event. For a parade and full filled day, come up during on the the town's many event weekends. My go to is the Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival or as my friends call it - the Testy Festy. The Saturday before St Patty's where 15 or more groups complete to show off their creativity and cooking skills with testicules. At noon the locals gather for a St Patrick's Day parade, a mix of cowboys and folks celebrating the Iris in them. We choose to come up the day before and enjoy VC before the crowd and spend a couple of nights in one of the old school hotels. Visit shops. And have a few drinks. Explore the old streets and historic sites. Bonus is we are here before the crowd. :). On event weekends there is hardly any parking on the main street C and sometimes a couple of the parking lots are closed. So you'll need to catch one of the side streets off D.
