My husband and I were looking for a carpenter to create some custom pieces to accent our outdoor…read morespace. We contacted a few different carpenters, including Chris, and asked them to come to our property and meet with us before submitting a proposal. Chris stood apart from the competition from the second he stepped through our door by bringing samples of different types of woods for us to consider. He also submitted a complete and thorough quote very quickly after meeting with us, and we agreed that he was the right person for the job. He came to our house for a second meeting before beginning the woodwork and spent a considerable amount of time walking through artistic details with us. From the time we gave him a deposit for the project to the complete installation, only a couple of weeks had passed. The speed with which the project was complete obviously provided a great sense of satisfaction but the workmanship on our pieces is unparalleled. When all was said and done, we ended up with multiple tiered planters and a pergola in our backyard, and a custom bench with built in planters and accent shelving on our roof deck. The final aesthetic of each piece FAR exceeded our expectations and has only managed to make us anxious to work with Chris again. Everyone who has been to our home since the installation has "oohed and ahhed" over the finished product and that includes people who helped build our house. To admire the carpentry that Chris created is one thing, but his professionalism and integrity really sets him apart from the competition. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for quality, customized carpentry and in fact, I would recommend people consider his services rather than purchasing cookie cutter pieces from local stores. Now that we know Chris' artistry and skill, I can think of many other projects we will work with him on from gifts to furniture needs and house upgrades.

Thank heavens my landscaper recommended Chris - I was skeptical, but was impressed that Chris showed up at my house 15 minutes after my landscaper called him. I really only used Chris because I trusted my landscaper. Having said that, my landscaper was right! And thank heavens I listened to him. The stairs are beautiful. Ipe wood stairs with a timbertech railing system. They look better than I even thought they would. And I had high expectations! The cuts were really well done - everything aligns perfectly and they feel very, very solid when I walk on them. Chris is, in his way, an artist. But I suppose all good carpenters are. I will use Chris for any other carpentry needs that I might have.

Trust me when I tell you--look elsewhere…read more Over the past year, we've had a lot of work done on our home, including a new fence, replacement windows, a new solar system, and a new storm door. Every contractor we hired did outstanding work--except Mr. Handyman of Cherry Hill. We purchased a top-of-the-line Larson storm door and hired Mr. Handyman to install it, along with repairing a few sections of our gutters and soffit. Hiring this company turned out to be a huge mistake. The installer completed the work on April 30. During the first major storm on June 19, the entire storm door blew completely off the house and landed in our driveway. I gathered all the pieces and moved the door onto the porch. I contacted Mr. Handyman immediately. For nearly a month, I received nothing but delays while they claimed they were communicating with Larson. From the very beginning, I told them I believed the door had not been installed correctly. A properly installed storm door should not completely detach during a storm. During that waiting period, I contacted Larson myself to better understand what could have happened. I was told that a properly installed door should not simply blow off. They also explained that the installation should have used five mounting screws--three 3-inch gold screws and two 2-inch red screws. Those screws were nowhere to be found. Instead, I found what appeared to be shorter silver screws, some of which were broken off in the mounting holes. The brick molding around the doorway was still intact. After weeks of waiting, I finally received an email stating that Larson allegedly determined the door had been installed correctly based on a few photos I had submitted. I completely disagree with that conclusion based on what I found after the door came off. My experience with this company has been extremely disappointing. Based on what happened to me, I cannot recommend them for this type of work. As I explained to Courtney S. and Meredith R., I had hoped we could resolve this without legal action. Since the company maintains that the installation was done correctly, I will pursue the matter through the courts and let the evidence speak for itself. If anyone else has had a similar experience with this company, you're welcome to contact me. Happy 250th, everyone--and be careful when choosing a contractor. Regards, Mark Romano Mark@RomanoIT.com

Stop right here. Look nowhere else. I have done the legwork for you!…read more In 2018 we had Steve and at least 5 other contractors come out to give us a quote on our kitchen remodel. After meeting Steve, there was an authenticity about him that none of the other contractors possessed. Every question that we asked him, he was up front, honest and listened intently to our wants and needs. After receiving many quotes, unfortunately then, we knew we had to save up before we could afford to have our kitchen done. Fast forward to the end of 2019 and we were ready to take the plunge! We knew that Steve was our guy. We gave him a call, he came back out several times to take measurements, design, etc. We had a start date of March 2020. Surprise... COVID! Everything was in limbo and we decided it was best to wait. Finally come August 3rd, 2020 Steve and his helper started demo work. Our final completion date was mid October. During construction time, I had two other friends getting their kitchens done as well. The horror stories they told me of their contractors being late, not being honest, charging more than what the contract stated, etc. had my husband and I feel like we hit the jackpot finding Steve. Many contractors now a days sub everything out and don't lift a finger. Not this guy! He is there every day, doing the work, and is passionate about his craft. He is meticulous and will not cut corners, leaving you a project that you are proud of. Steve is arguably the hardest working human my husband and I have ever met. When you hire Steve, you don't just get a contractor, you get a friend...that turns into family. My husband, my two children and I fell in love with Steve. He brought us joy daily during the two months he was with us and has become part of our extended family. We miss seeing him frequently, but now get to enjoy the work he did on our home daily. All of our friends and family that have walked into our home think we hired a high end contractor and designer for our project. We hired an expert handyman - the name says it all. Expert work at a fair price. Future customers, you can thank me later. ;)

More like the Home Nightmare. I hired them to re-caulk two showers and repair one kitchen cabinet…read moredrawer. They asked me not to use the showers 48 hours in advance, so I did. On the day of the appointment, I waited around until 5pm, when I called to confirm they were still coming. They didn't answer, but called me back about 30 min later to say that there was a mix-up and that they weren't coming. To their credit, they did come the next day, but the technician was very confused about what to caulk in my showers. We watched a youtube video together, then he caulked the showers. I was very nervous at this point, but trusted him. Of course, after waiting 24 more hours to use the showers (and now almost a week of showering at the gym), I find that the shower leaks!!! I contacted the company and they promised to look at it when the drawer technician comes out. Well, that appointment got rescheduled 2 times. I was getting pretty fed up and asked them to commit to a time. That's when Pete, the manager, tells me via email that they cannot ensure that a shower won't leak after they caulk it. At this point, I had no confidence in this company and asked for a refund for the one shower and to cancel the drawer repair. They refunded me $75 out $200 wished me luck disputing the remainder with my credit card company. A total waste of my time and honestly the worst customer service I've experienced in Philly (and that's saying a lot!).

Turns out it needed better screws in the hinges. This didn't result in a discount. I didn't fight it because he spent about 12 hours 'fixing the dry wall'. Promised that it would be paint ready, which to me means excess dry wall cleaned up textured, and seams smoothed. Several spots were missed the first day, but addressed by revisiting the provided the second day. At the end of the second day when he finished the same cracks were still visible with just a massive amount of dry wall going away from the cracks. Along with that things were patched that were on the list with so much mess I had to remove the spackle and do the spot again. He also didn't texture anything during cleanup so things are not paint ready. On top of the amount of mess left behind, I spent hours this weekend cleaning up dust and starting to correct the work. I was hoping this would save me hours of work cleaning and sanding drywall myself. This is not the case between needing the work redone and the cleaning. I wouldn't recommend them for dry wall work.
