Wow is all I can or could ever say. This place is unbelievable with, alone, the exceptional level of customer service from literally every employee that works there. Long story short about me: I love the idea of tattoos and always have, I want many, and I have a very low tolerance for pain. So it's like wanting something that will always hurt you but ends up being beautiful and good in the end. Back to No Name and, to a greater extent, Roxy the tattoo artist there. Flawless? Amazing? Intelligent? Understanding? Calming? Funny? Clever? Inspirational? A GREAT TATTOO ARTIST??? I mean yea true but all of these don't even get me started on how this awesome woman, who always has a fun color or style to her hair (yesterday it was a nice pink!), has made getting tattoos for me... something I could handle. Especially after having a HORRIBLE tattoo artist ruin my arm and first tattoo for me for almost 1.5 years. I went to Hawaii (thanks Dad!) in April 2019 and got a small sea turtle on my right wrist as my first tattoo. I added to it May 2019 at Marked Marvels (no..... comment........) and that was a complete disaster. I got 2 more turtles and they weren't anything like I wanted. I ended up never going back there and hated my arm for 1.5 years. August 2020. Missed one appointment and was late I'm sure to another. But Roxy got me in and added my 4th turtle and added waves and then redesigned the previous 3 turtles to match. It became a stunning and elegant tattoo and I could finally look at my arm again and not cringe or be sad!! This was good customer service! She listen to the issues I had with the previous tattoo guy in the past. She understood my low pain tolerance and did all she could to make it as easy as can be. She's funny and lighthearted and it feels like more then some hair stylist who wants to know drama. She wants to know how one of her clients are doing. She's also wildly and insanely interesting and I love that she and I both enjoy a good and long vacation/trip away to other places! She is endlessly dynamic. But so is the place she works for/at and everyone who works there too. I've been there maybe 5-6 times in total for my 2 tattoo sessions and then a few other visits for consults and for upcoming stuff. This place is great. I never used the bathroom there till yesterday (3/03/2021) and... um.... SPOTLESS???? It actually smelled good...? Like a bathroom at someone's private home!!! Also HILARIOUS???? The wall art and home decor is wild. The way they present themselves. The knowledge they all know. The kindness and calmness. The attention to detail and an idea that ANYONE and EVERYONE they work with deserves a good service. Roxy is flawless. No Name Tattoo is a cute and small shop in the middle of downtown Utica and it fits right in. I love each and every session with her. Even the worst session I could ever experience with her wouldn't even ever compare to the issues I had at MM. That's information for a more negative review on their artist and place though. But for Roxy & No Name, the bar is set so high you'd think it reached a new galaxy. Imagine you're a tattoo artist and you've only done 2 sessions on/for someone but they tell you they want you to do their tattoos for the rest of your career or their life, whatever comes first. That's me with Roxy and I'm not joking at all. I told her that. The look in her eyes made my heart soar cause I truly found someone whose given me some of THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. Better then doctors or other tattoo shops or food places. Better then them all. I truly can't wait to visit in 3 weeks for my newest tattoo's follow up. And to be there in June for a friend tattoo with my online BFF from Minnesota. #3 with Roxy on a list that just keeps on growing cause I know I have a tattoo artist who cares. I got my septum pierced around November 2022, and I have 0 complaints!!! Everything went perfectly. Only thing that could be a dealbreaker for some is that they have VERY limited jewelry. The only septum option is the horseshoe ring in gold, silver and rose gold i believe. I was fine with it, but changed after it healed. I changed mine the second month once my nose was comfortable when moving it. When first taking care of it, follow the instructions, 2x wash and 2x saline soak a day. (I recommend H20 saline spray) As long as you do that for the first few weeks/month, you should be fine. and try not to touch it too much, I touched it a lot, i just read it can get infected easier that way! The place the very nice and everything was very clean. Went in to get a couple piercings and worked with Heather. She was quick, informative and super nice to me, but unfortunately rude to my husband. I was asking questions and we were discussing things, my husband was putting his input in and she snapped at him and told him to let her do the talking, I felt it was unprofessional. Throughout the piercing itself I felt comfortable and Heather was good at easing any nerves. After my piercing I had a moment where I felt I was going to pass out and my husband stood up to help me and she ordered him to sit back down, at that point the piercing had been done and he was just coming to help me. We will not be coming back here because of this experience. read more

I wish I could give this place negative stars. I went last week to get an industrial piercing. 4 days later my ear is swollen three times the size and I can barely touch it because I was in so much pain. For the record, I followed all the cleaning instructions. I went back to No Name to see CHINO who pierced my ear and you know what he told me? To just take out the piercing. OH! OKAY! His coworker, who was sitting at the front desk mentioned that chino could put in two small rings to keep my piercing open and then when my piercing was healed I might be able to put in a new bar. After being hurried into the back and aggressively fixed up I left this place with two rings in my ear. I had a feeling this place made a mistake because of their lack of information and overall shaddy demeanor when I came back the second time asking for help. So I needed a second opinion. I made a walk in appointment at XS in downtown Rochester and I got some SHOCKING news. Chino, at No Name Tattoo completely pierced my industrial incorrectly. He misaligned my two holes which caused the pain, heat and swelling on my right ear. He never lined up my industrial. So, now when my piercings are healed I will never be able to wear a "normal" bar through my industrial piercing holes. I will have to have someone bend and customize a bar special to fit my misaligned piercings. AND on top of my hack job of a piercing, the cleaning instructions this place gives are incorrect and can cause more irritation and pain. So my overall rating you ask? NEVER GO HERE FOR ANYTHING. These people are unqualified and unprofessional and should find new jobs. read more

Love this place! I've gotten my navel, helix, forward helix, conch, and rook piercing here! After coming back so many times figured I had to leave a great review. They keep everything clean and up to standard, piercer (Heather) is super nice, and whole experience is just quick and easy. They make you feel super relaxed through the piercing and provide you with a copy of take home care procedure/cleaning for each piercing you get! Piercer is super sweet and time efficient. I was super scared when I went to go get my septum back in February but it healed so good and they were rlly respectful of my hesitation!!! And just about 2 weeks ago I got two nose piercings and my right side second earlobe piercing done and it took literally 20 minutes and they're all nearly healed already!! Got my belly button pierced here awhile back. Finally got new jewelry from a different parlor after getting sick and tired of cleaning out my piercing after having it ooze everyday for more than a year. Turns out the jewelry isn't quality like they advertise and is externally threaded which is bad for the piercing as well. Beside piercing it crooked the piercers were nice. Sanitation was iffy. Just pay the extra $20 and go somewhere else. read more

i truly didn't even want to write a review, but i felt like this is needed. i went to the shop around february to get a new piercing for my 18th birthday, i've had many piercings before, but this was my first time at this shop. the staff was very nice and personable, but i told them i wanted my bellybutton pierced and instead of them having me choose my jewelry they sent me to the back with one picked out already and started the piercing. instead of laying down, the lady had me stand up, by a wall but not up against it, and did my piercing. she told me not to move back which almost seemed impossible since she's having me stand and get a needle shoved through my bellybutton. i went to my normal piercer to get another piercing soon after and she was shocked when i told her the story. incredibly unprofessional and not even accurate to how this piercing should have been preformed. i have had complications with this piercing since i got it, whether it's because she pierced me when i may not have the correct anatomy, did the piercing completely wrong, or not piercing me with titanium and instead surgical steel, it has been the worst and hardest piercing i have ever had to care for. as you can see from my picture the piercing didn't even last 6 months and almost completely rejected. i advise you to look deeper and find a more well suited piercer who has experience in what they are doing, do not get fooled by their 4.6 stars like i did! read more

I went here for a simple tattoo, only 4 square inches. It is the umbrella symbol from the resident evil series. I had just had an unreal shift the night before on my paramedics job. I was kind of in a "high" state due to the life changing events and had an over whelming desire to get a tattoo, something that meant something to me and would remind me for the rest of my life what had happened in the last 16 hours. That being said I was not in the most clear of mind sets. I had been waiting for a long time to get a tattoo and already had about 6 professional piercings done (in addition to many home piercings), so I was no stranger to asking all the right questions about cleanliness, etc. I picked this place because of the extensive video game tattoos, and the fact the guy had already done this exact tattoo on 2 other people, with it looking perfect. I walked in, showed the guy what I wanted, and he said ok. I then stood there for 20-30 mins while the tattoo artist and piercer talked about inventory, their nights before, and other things that could have waited until they had tended to me. After all this the guy shows me to the room, setting everything up (in a sterile manner). He asks where I want it, placing the stencil about an inch from where I asked. After inquiring about the placement change, the guy states the tattoo will move about in an undesirable way where I want it. I know this is something they often give good advice about so I proceed with the placement (which I now disagree with intensely, the area I wanted would have worked just fine). He then starts the tattoo. It is a simple octagon, with 4 straight lines in the middle and alternating red and white color fill-ins of the triangles the lines make up. Initially none of the lines are the same thickness, which I start commenting on right away. He says that it will even out more as the tattoo heals. I took his word for it, which ended up being a total lie. 5 years later this sh*t is still totally uneven. Half way through he stops to smoke a cigarette, in the store, which is illegal in Michigan. Mind you this tattoo took a total of 10 minutes to complete. Then when he comes back to finish it he begins to berate me on not asking about the sterilization of the store. I apologized, and told him that I was personally shocked that I did not inquire as well. I began to explain the reasoning for my gaffe was my mind being preoccupied with the events of the night I had before, to which he made it obvious he could not care less (part of it was saving a small child's life). By the time he finished in the red coloring he started to pack up his stuff. I jokingly made a comment about the white triangles needed to be filled in too. He told me that the white ink always fades, and that I would like it more without it. I told him thank you for the advice, but I would prefer a complete looking tattoo. He said too bad, they didn't even have white ink. At this point I was pissed. How do you not have WHITE INK?!?! He then began to accuse me of being a drug addict because I was not in pain while getting a tattoo on the inside of my wrist (I have a huge pain tolerance, that allowed my to get a 10 piece corset piercing, and cope with numerous broken bones). I just wanted to get the hell out of the store. I walk up to the front counter to pay, at which point I am told it was going to cost $120. I refused to pay, stating the base costs of all the other tattoo shops in the area, the size of the tat, the time, and the complete dissatisfaction. Unfortunately the tattoo artist notices a cop outside the shop, who listens to the story for 5 minutes before telling me I'll be arrested for theft if I do not pay and that I can take it up with the BBB if I am still upset. Considering I am a HUGE Body Mod fan, I am pissed that my first tattoo had to be such a disaster. I wish I had just let my best friends brother do it. He would have put a lot more effort and love in to it. Never go here, not worth the crap. read more

Seth was the most wonderful human. I was getting a piercing and he made me comfortable and was very laid back while still being professional. Everything was clean and sterile. My advice to this place ? SLOW DOWN! Super friendly, decent work, nice price, rushed tattoo. Rushed tattoo= imperfections. I was a customer with an appointment and just because other people walked in wanting something doesn't mean you rush my work or stop in the middle to do someone else's stuff. Tattoo had missing lines in some places extra lines in the others. If this place took their time and waited on one person at a time these problems wouldn't happen or at least I would hope they wouldn't. read more

He created a free hand design based on my description of what I was looking for and you can't see any of the old tattoo (which looked like it was drawn on in crayon - long story - college tattoo). Got a medusa piercing by roxie and it was the worst experience of my life. My lip was swollen for a week and the skin on my lip grew over the backing leaving a huge hole in my lip. After going to another shop to get it checked out, i was informed that the way the webbing of my upper lip is makes the piercing not possible which is why she pierced it at the wrong angle. they do not care about your well being they just want your money! read more

Absolutely amazing tattoo. I had Chino do a photo/realistic rose as a tribute to my mom, and I can't say how much I love it. The detail is amazing, the color is perfectly done! It's my first visible tat, which made me nervous to do, but I could not imagine having this tattoo anywhere where people couldn't see it. That's how good it is. Chino is fast and detailed, and really does a great job making sure you are comfortable. Very clean and sanitary. Chino does it right, especially if you've got a sense of humor! I've been getting modifications at this shop since it opened. A wonderful, clean, friendly and welcoming building. I've been in some terror dungeons of tattoo shops.... Not enjoyable. I've had work done by many of the artists that have walked that hall and have always been impressed by the quality of work that comes out. Recently just finished a half sleeve with Chino that is beyond beautiful. Chino is extremely knowledgeable about his trade and equipment/supplies. The only way I could see something bad coming out of that shop is if you go in there with a bad idea or go against what they advise. Listen to what they tell you. They've been doing it a very loooong time and they want you to be happy with your new modification. read more
