Loved the restaurant, ambiance, and food. My grandmother had the friday special Shrimp Stew with fish, two of us had the shrimp and fish platter which was incredible with their tartar and another had the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes. Our server was incredibly attentive and near omnipresent and the food came out fresh. This 130 year old place of business runs like a top!

First time here and in laws wanted to me try it since they live across the river in Vacherie. But OMG! The food is good! Everyone had a little bit of everything. Shrimp, pork chops and, gumbo. The waitress was also excellent and nice! And the restaurant felt like a home, cozy place which made the ambiance better.

Came here after seeing it posted a couple of times and realizing it wasn't too far from me. You can tell this a local spot in a historic building. The food was ok, nothing stood out too much but I saw they won an award for their gumbo so I decided to try it. It was pretty good, would order that again as the roux was good and it's served nice and warm for a cold day.

Great local food in great local environment, old style, not fancy. No chain restaurant feel or vibe.

I went for the lunch buffet for $13.99 and feel like the BR location def has more options than the NOLA location (I haven't been to that spot in over a year though). There are some seafood options during lunch (salt and pepper crab, salmon, assortment of fish, and mussels) but if you want a wider variety, dinner is the way to go. I didn't try the sushi because the majority of them were always wiped out but the chefs in the back were doing their best to replenish whenever they could. Nothing to extraordinary with the sushi, I feel like you could get most of em at the grocery store. My favs at lunch were hands down the salmon and the baked mussels w cheese on top. The salmon was SEASONED SO WELL and I just kept going back for more. The mussels and cheese was def a hit too bc I could see the chefs restock every so often. There's unlimited boba (not included in the buffet) and I had the mango, which tasted watered down to me. The ice cream was amazing, got a mix of the taro and mango. The cakes were extremely dry and the mousse was the only thing saving it from totally crumbling in my mouth. For the most part, the food was piping hot, but there were a few options that were cold when I ate them, hence the 4 stars. The staff were incredibly sweet and would clean tables immediately after someone would leave.

The windows are covered with curtains so you can't see inside and that's a small detail I would change. It's not very inviting. There was a lounge area but the piano was way too loud so I ended up at the main bar which was a great vibe. The place was mostly empty, which is unfortunate because it's a really great location and the place a beautiful. I think the concept needs to be switched up a bit. The Brussels Sprouts were delicious, but if you don't like goat cheese, make sure to ask them to leave it out. The meatballs were just okay, and lacked and special flavor. They were also slightly overcooked. It's a nice place, but needs some work to be great.

The Tuscan Meatballs were a rough start--they arrived ice cold. Even worse, when we sent them back, they clearly just reheated the same plate (the meatball with a bite out of it was still there) instead of bringing out a fresh dish. For the price, that's a pretty big disappointment. For entrees, I had the Smash Burger, which was fairly bland and nothing to write home about. However, the Lobster Ravioli was incredible--a total 10/10--and the Brussels sprouts were excellent as well. We finished with the cheesecake, which was also a highlight. The atmosphere was nice, staff were pretty good and it's a very popular place to grab a drink. While the food definitely improved as the night went on, the "hit or miss" nature of the meal and the service mishap with the appetizer made it hard to justify the price tag. We likely won't be back.

On a subsequent visit, I selected a fun drink & some mozzie sticks, but on this visit, I got French Toast sticks & a raspberry tea. The mozzarella sticks were juicy, well cooked and quite filling. The fun drink was tasty & lasted only a short while for two reasons, 1) because I was thirsty 2) because it was ooooooh so good. I enjoy getting food here because of the ability to get breakfast foods, fun drinks & shakes at any time of the day. Pricing was fair. She immediately took his his order and had his dinner on the table quickly, occupying his busy hands. She recommended the spinach dip as appetizer with a fried pasta . It was gone in minutes! Great. We got here around 8ish in the evening and it was raining so not many people here. So we propped up at the bar and ordered. I was in a martini mood so Gin martinis were my calling; they made them the way I like: slightly dirty w/ extra olives. I can't remember how many of those I ordered but they went down smooth. I didn't want to order anything heavy so I decided on the Brussels Sprouts and a cup of the Chicken/Andouille Gumbo. The Brussels were crispy and had a nice soy glaze to cap it off. They garnished it with some peeled scallions which gives a nice finish. I'm a sucker for Brussels Sprouts; if they're on the menu, I'm very likely gonna order them. The gumbo was pretty good, had a tomato richness to it. I forgot what my friend ordered; probably cause I had too many martinis. It's about a 10-15 minute drive from Hammond but it's worth it.
