I stuck with my regular half-caf drip coffee but had a chance to taste my friends coffees; a caramel late, a spiced pumpkin late and a late all made with soy milk. Still not necessarily going to go and have a flavored coffee drink but it was nice sip something that was not tooth shatteringly sweet. Also had a gluten free caramel turtle cookie. I have to agree with reviewers who say that the atmosphere is better than the whole experience. Stopped for lunch recently, 1:30 PM. The blackboard had a turkey sandwich. 'Sorry, we're out of turkey'. Must have been really great to have sold out so early. But take it off the blackboard. Drink my coffee black no sugar. They drew it from urn and it tasted scorched. They say they refresh the urn frequently during the day but it didn't taste like it. I was given another cup from the fresh batch but it was also tasteless. Also agree that the desserts are better than the food and the noise level has increased especially when they put the blender on top of the side counter and turn it on. There has to be a quieter machine on the market. I ordered a tuna on a whole wheat wrap with tomato and onion. Not much tuna, a while lot of wrap and no onion. They once served their sandwich with a carrot slaw that was delicious and really dressed up the plate. No more slaw, just a lonely wrap on a plate with a simple garnish. read more

Very dissapointed in this establishment. My wife has a very serious nut allergy - pecans, almonds, walnuts, etc... For starters, there is only a VERY small indicator on the menu board that NCR serves items cooked/prepared with nuts - it makes no efforts to indicate which items have them. She ordered the Southwest Chicken sandwich with a few modifications made to it. Instead of giving her the sandwich as she ORDERED it, they gave her ANOTHER sandwich on the menu without consulting her first. One trip to the ER later... This is bad enough, but I am also starkly amazed that the company made almost NO effort to apologize for their error. I called the manager and she was very sensitive to my concerns - I gave her my phone number to have the owner of the company call me. I have yet to receive that phone call. It has been over a month. It would be nice if they made an effort to assuage my fears that this will never happen to another customer. It certainly won't happen to us because neither I nor my wife will be going to this establishment again. read more

This place is good for grabbing a quick coffee but I've come here a lot in the afternoon for my boyfriends study time. They only have two working outlets so don't expect to stay long. I'm a big coffee lover and I drink it black, no sugar or cream. Being new to the area, I was excited to hear about this place and finally made it in. Sadly, the real star of this place is the space itself, not the coffee. It's a nice interior with revolving art installations, clean and spacious. They have poetry nights and an outdoor area. The pastries and baked good are great! For all of these reasons, I'll return, but I'll adjust my order. I came in and had a red eye (a concept I had to explain to the barista), a coffee with a shot of espresso. It was incredibly weak (again, black, no sugar or milk) and I can't imagine what it would have tasted like without the shot of espresso. My wife had an almond milk latte. It tasted like warm almond milk. Next time, I'll just have a double espresso to sip on, and hope it's as strong as I like it. I hope the coffee improves! read more

Exellent coffee house. They have wonderful flavor brews. I just wish they served more variety at any given time. Flavored syrup added to the coffee, just doesn't compare. Their "graham cracker" and "snicker doodle" coffees are awesome. Selfishly, I wish they had alternative sweetners, like Stevia and I think they should expand their food menu. Unreal. Wanted to take my Mom to lunch for her birthday- Heard nice things about this cafe, stopped in this afternoon and approached the counter- beautiful decor and ambiance, etc.... Server behind counter on phone looked at us, turned his back without acknowledging us, and disappeared into the kitchen without so much as a nod. We waited for several minutes, and my Mom became a little dejected- so we simply left. This is one of my favorite coffee shops to visit! They make their iced coffee with two shots of expresso! Plus, the pastries are to die for. I love the fresh fruit tarts when they have them. The outdoor seating is great, and they're always hosting events (poetry readings, live music, etc). The prices are very reasonable and the place is beautiful inside. So I have no actual complaints about this place in regards to food or coffee, but today the owner spoke to me about myself and some other students that were there. Nice enough guy, but he basically told me that me and other student should be "courteous" and move on when "it's busy." I did not just buy a coffee and sit there either, I obviously realize they are a mom and pop type business and got a sandwich, a pastry, and a few cups of coffee throughout the course of the day and my friends did likewise (I would always spend money when I was there in my previous visits too). I know he is trying to make a living and a profit, but its a coffee shop, a considerable portion of its business is going to be students.. Anyways I relayed his message to the other students and he is going to lose a few loyal customers to big chain starbucks, which is a shame because I actually liked this place, but I came here specifically to study. read more
