Yellowtail jalapeño sushi

Great food. Great service. The ambience was chill and engaging. There was a lot of movement going on but still calm. I'd recommend folks to try the sushi options and lobster tempura! Plus the spicy seafood soup.

Enjoyed a little bite to eat with some good drinks. We were lucky to get seats at the bar. Service was great. View was amazing. You can never go wrong being near the beach.

New Style Sashimi

Walked in and sat at the Sushi Bar and Chef Michael helped us with our menu selections. Chef Michael literally helped us navigate the menu and suggested menu options that we ended up trying and were delicious. The drinks were also amazing, try the Margarita and Old Fashioned, you will not be disappointed. The staff as a whole was very welcoming.

Sometimes everything aligns just right--setting, service, flavors, and occasion--and you find yourself in the middle of a truly unforgettable meal. That's exactly how I would describe our 40th anniversary dinner at Nobu Coronado, nestled within the iconic Hotel del Coronado. The Del was glowing for the holidays: Wizard of Oz-themed Christmas trees, the beachfront ice rink shimmering at sunset, festive shops, and a buzz of energy throughout the property. All of it was made even more impressive by the hotel's beautifully completed multi-year restoration, which has elevated an already legendary destination to a new level of brilliance. We arrived for our 6:00 p.m. reservation and were promptly seated, warmly welcomed, and wished a happy anniversary--an early sign of the thoughtful, polished service that would carry us through the evening. The staff struck that perfect Nobu balance: attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without pretense, and genuinely warm. We began with miso soup, mushroom soup, and the iconic Yellowtail Jalapeño. The miso soup was comforting and refined, with silky tofu and a clean, savory depth. The mushroom soup was equally satisfying--earthy, aromatic, and layered with a variety of mushrooms that gave it real character. Then came the Yellowtail Jalapeño, a dish that has achieved near-legendary status across Nobu locations worldwide--and for good reason. Paper-thin slices of pristine yellowtail were topped with garlic paste, razor-thin jalapeño, and fresh cilantro, all swimming in that signature citrusy yuzu soy sauce. Bright, balanced, and addictive. Robin cleverly added some of the yuzu sauce to her mushroom soup, instantly elevating it to a whole new level--chef's kiss. For our mains, we shared the Miso Black Cod and the Lamb Anticucho, a pairing that showcased Nobu's mastery of both seafood and bold, global flavors. The Lamb Anticucho was outstanding: tender, succulent lamb coated in a richly spiced, savory-spicy marinade with hints of miso, garlic, rosemary, and herbs. Deeply flavorful without being heavy, it delivered complexity and comfort in equal measure. The Miso Black Cod--Nobu's most famous dish--fully lived up to its reputation. Perfectly glazed, delicately caramelized, and impossibly tender, it practically melted on the fork. The black cod's natural richness was enhanced by the umami-packed marinade of white miso, sake, mirin, and sugar, creating a dish that's both elegant and deeply satisfying. It's easy to see why people rave about it; this is a signature for a reason. We closed the evening with hot tea and a beautifully presented Yuzu White Chocolate Cheesecake--an ideal anniversary dessert. Bright, creamy, and balanced, the citrusy yuzu cut through the richness of the white chocolate, while the accompanying citrus sorbet, meringue, and delicate shortbread cookies added texture and contrast. It was light, refreshing, and memorable--just like the evening itself. From the breathtaking setting to the impeccable service and flawlessly executed dishes, Nobu Coronado delivered a dining experience worthy of both the occasion and the legendary Nobu name. A perfect meal, in an unbelievable location, marking a milestone we'll always remember.

The restaurant general manager Lindsey demonstrated exceptional leadership and customer care, making the entire dining experience outstanding. And the hostess Giselle is always so sweet and friendly!

Was able to have an amazing lunch here with the hubs and his coworker! We shared so many of the dishes! I Had a pineapple martini we had sashimi, mushrooms, chicken and edamame! Everything was superb. The service was efficient and our waiter explained all dishes to me since it was my first time there. The ambiance there is beyond amazing right on the Coronado boardwalk with views of the ocean and ice skating rink! Pretty sure we will be back!

I came here on a Monday night around 7 PM, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. The decor is absolutely magical. The space is beautiful and creates such a special atmosphere. The service was outstanding, and every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We had: * Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna * Fluke Sashimi Dry Miso * Yellowtail Jalapeño * Sea Bass Dry Miso * Rock Shrimp Tempura * Wagyu Dumplings * Lobster Tempura Truffle Amazu * Shrimp and Lobster Spicy Lemon Sauce * Japanese A5 Wagyu * Rolls + Sashimi The Japanese A5 Wagyu had an amazing presentation and was definitely a highlight of the night. Honestly, everything we tried was delicious. The vibe here is fun yet relaxing, making it a great place for a special dinner or a night out. In my opinion, this location is 100x better than the original downtown spot. We had one of the best meals here, and I highly recommend checking it out!

House Roll

I took my coworker May here during our nursing conference since it was just her birthday just a few days ago. Nobu faced the Coronado oceanfront alongside the other high-end restaurants, like Serea. We were unable to get seating outside but the restaurant was fairly open so we could still watch the sunset. Our server was very knowledgeable and had memorized all the nuisances of each drink and food item. Between him and his colleagues, their knowledge, timeliness, and seamless execution were praiseworthy. From the cold section, the toro tartare was incredibly delicious. The tuna texture was delicate, exquisite, and fatty. The caviar and wasabi topping added a complex buttery, briny texture. Presentation was breathtaking, the way the tartare was housed in an exterior shaved ice bowl. The soft color scheme of pastel greens added to its ambience. Amongst the hot section, we ended up picking the black cod miso. It did not disappoint. It was perfectly caramelized on the exterior. The flesh was well marinated, imparting a deep, savory flavor. The interior was moist and just fell apart in your mouth. The miso glaze added a lovely umami element to it. The accompanying ginger flower sprout had such a lovely sharp, citrusy undertone to help cleanse the palate in between. For sushi, we got the house special. I cannot remember what it was called or what was in it to be honest. But the flavor combination and textures were delicious. The tempura balls on top added some complexity to the roll. Lastly, for dessert, we ordered the bento box, which consisted of a lava cake and a scoop of matcha ice cream. The lava cake was more of a souffle style that was intensely rich. It did not flow as much as I would have liked. The ice cream was smooth. The matcha was able to balance the lava cake. The contrast of hot and cold was lovely. But I think it was my least favorite item we got. Overall, this was excellent fine dining, which of course came with steep prices. But the quality, presentation, service, and beachside ambience were well executed. I would definitely love to return to Nobu!

I brought my vegan daughter here. The chef prepared creative vegan sushi that was beautiful and delicious. I was delighted to discover that real wasabi is Nobu's standard (no need to special order). Based solely on my expression of delight, the waiter brought freshly grated wasabi! Yum!!!! Be prepared to pay a premium for the chef designed options. What you see in this photo (including saki) totaled about $250, so don't expect the waiter's recommendation to be priced similar to what you see in the menu.

BUT WAS IT WORTH THE WAIT???? A busy Saturday evening with a wedding going on in the pavilion in front of restaurant........with the usual Hotel Del Coronado mass of humanity milling around on a great night to be outside. My wife put our party of 3 adults and an 8 month old on the wait list. Told the wait was about an hour and half. We strolled to an adjacent unrelated bar and had drinks while the sun went down. 2 hours later, still no ping from Nobu about table. I'm a sushi lover and aficionado but this was getting beyond ridiculous! I closed out our tab and was ready to leave and go elsewhere when the ping came that table was ready. Got to hostess stand and was led to not a table but 3 seats at the sushi bar. I'm fuming! This long a wait and with an 8 month old we were forced to figure out how to do this, with tables visibly open. Tired aggravated and hungry we sat. Then the magic of Nobu began! Service was immediate, fast and attentive. I'm a Nobu return customer from LA and Vegas locations, first time at this location. I preferred for all of us an array of sides as pictured. Everyone loved the Okra and Okinawa Purple Potatoes which had the perfect of salt and crispiness with a hint of sweetness. String beans were disappointing. Portion sizes were not big enough for the price. You go to Nobu, yes there are pricey cooked items and Waygu Beef, but you're here for the sushi! Super fresh, tasty and high quality fish and rice. The tools were made so perfectly symmetric it was almost edible art! ........but was it worth the wait????? YES, if you've never experienced Nobu and you love sushi NO, if you're not into sushi and high ticket meals........not sure if this location takes reservations, if they do, that's the way to go. I much prefer either of the Vegas or LA locations, including Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills.

I have been wanting to try Nobu forever. It did not dissapoint! Everything I put in my mouth was beyond delicious!!! My taste buds were dancing!! This place is super expensive... but its worth every penny!!!

The food is AMAZING! Giovanny, our server was friendly and knowledgeable about everything and the music and lighting was just right for a nice conversation. It was intimate and casual (they pull Jeff that off). Giovanny Made excellent recommendations and made sure we had an incredible dinner! Thank you for the great hospitality!

This past spring two luxury brands came together with the opening of Nobu at the Hotel Del Coronado. Even though there was already a Nobu restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter about five miles away, it seemed like a logical pairing. I came recently on a weekend because I learned that Nobu is now open for lunch. That alleviated the long waitlist for a dinner reservation if you're willing to come earlier in the day to enjoy the same menu. The suite was located to the right of another newly opened dining venue on the south side of the property. I asked the hostess if there was available seating, and she led me to a spot at the eight-person sushi bar. The place was about 2/3 full before the dinner rush began. The best seating was on the front patio where you could glimpse the beach and ocean off in the distance. Two full pages and two smaller half pages made up the food menu. Having dined at the other SD location many years ago and also trying out various higher end Japanese restaurants in town, I found the prices to be extraordinarily high. I understand that part of the experience was that you would be paying for the reputation of the business, but I agreed with the assessment of the other lower rated reviews. The first item on the list of Hot Dishes was Nobu's signature entree which was the Black Cod Miso. I chose this hot dish because I didn't order it when I dined at the Gaslamp venue. What didn't make sense was how the version here was priced at $65!! That was 35% higher than any other Nobu location, including their flagship in Malibu. I thought perhaps there would be more than just a fish fillet glazed with miso sauce, but I was sadly mistaken. How they arrived at such a markup was bewildering because just several miles away, the cost was less than $50. The sushi prices were also a gut punch to the wallet. Fourteen dollars for a vegetable handroll?! All of the nigiri sushi and sashimi were priced by the piece. I chose two pieces of nigiri... Golden Eye Snapper and Japanese Red Snapper (tai) which set me back $25. You can get equally good, if not better, quality fish for half the cost at local upscale Japanese eateries. I gave the service a four star rating, the food quality a three star rating, and the value a one star rating. I was underwhelmed by this Nobu experience and couldn't award more than two stars overall.

I wanted to check this place out after seeing it several times in Instagram…read more Pros: - Friday lunch was a breeze; no wait. - Lower tier ($45) for the options they have sounds about right. Quality is decent considering it's an AYCE place; I would say it's actually on the better side. - Spicy yellowtail ACTUALLY has a kick. I'm used to places saying it's spicy and it's...not. - The place looks fairly small, but they have some outdoor seating with an awesome view. Cons: - Parking is difficult in general in Coronado so no shock here. - Avoid the mix sushi sashimi...it definitely was on the fishier side. - Service is somewhat slow? I noticed that only one person took orders for the whole place during lunch time. - Rice to fish ratio can be worked on..I've never had so much rice in my handrolls before.

I got like 4 rounds but I wasn't able to eat a lot because I got full very fast. The premium is worth it because of the a5 wagyu, amaebi, unagi ! So delicious and the highlight of my whole experience plus the takoyaki and shrimp tempura. The sushi melts in your mouth and is so good. The takoyaki was sooo delicious! The gyoza was good but the sauce could be better. I tried the premium hand roll and the salmon roll sushi and ok I was disgusted because it tasted like fishy LOL... couldn't get the thought of fish sperm out of my head.. The sashimis were alright Disappointed because they didn't have bluefin belly fish at the time I came in.. UTC roll was not good I don't recommend But the hotel del sushi was so fireee! I wish I had more room to try more but I'll probably do that another time. Overall I recommend this place for sure.

The theme of Sushi MARU is truly attention to detail, and that extends from arrival, to service, to, of course, the food. Staff were incredibly attentive and easy to talk to, including the chefs. The food, I will comment on just generally as the menu is constantly changing (as is the case with many omakase): each dish was composed of pieces that complemented each other well and created a cohesive flavor pallette. Each nigiri was artfully prepared that emphased the quality and cut of the fish, and were complemented by flavors to further highlight that. The flow of the evening was non-traditional omakase, but it felt perfect. Price ($180pp) is not for the faint of heart, but is cheaper than others I've seen.
