Great dining experience with fantastic service at this establishment! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Expect higher prices as you are eating alongside the water with beautiful downtown views and Coronado.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the ribeye with chimichurri sauce, twice baked potatoes, brussel sprouts and some kid's meals as well. Popovers came out first and they were such a delight! I love how they come out warm and are served with a delicious spread. So airy and light! Ribeye was large enough for two people so we decided to split it with the side dishes. I'm glad we decided to share it because the side dishes were enormous. Twice baked potatoes is recommended to be shared with two people, however, it was large enough to feed at least 6 people! Totally recommend it and the brussel sprouts with a balsamic glaze as well! We also received a complimentary flourless chocolate cake since we were celebrating and it was delicious as well. Nice ending to a quality meal! Parking - valet is $10, however, if you are lucky enough, you may be able to snag some self parking spots in the lot. We are looking forward to trying other options here in the future.

The service was amazing let's just start there. I booked this reservation for my gf birthday and ordered the rose petals and rose package. Worth the money considering the views. I won't lie, I didn't have high expectations considering lately above average prices restaurants have not been delivering on taste, but more on ambiance. HOWEVER, Island Prime did NOT disappoint. I had the ribeye and my gf had the halibut. They were both really good. The twice baked potato with lobster was also REALLY good. The asparagus was a little big for my taste but she loved it so there's that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The views if you can get a window seat are unmatched.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 10/10 recommend for overall taste, ambiance, service and experience. However, we had a no phones rule that night after the first couple or pictures so I didn't get pics of the entree's. Sad I know. But the views I got lol

The Service, the atmosphere and most of all the food was amazing. The steak was very good, Mac and cheese just as good as C-level and the drinks perfect. The mashed was ok and the reservations made a while ago for a birthday was not followed. They didn't sit us at a window areas and so we told them we would wait. The reason they said we didn't get what we requested was "first come get the window" ??? All in all nice place to have a good dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oh yeah the music was good too[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We've Been dining here in the area several times eating at the restaurants nearby and this time we decided to try this place, I heard that not only does it have a beautiful view, but the foods are also good. I'm glad that I also made a reservation 'coz when we came the place was already packed and it wasn't even the weekend yet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We got seated next to the window where we could enjoy the Ocean view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the following: *PRIME PORTER HOUSE *PORK CHOP *PRAWN LINGUINI *AHI STACK *TEMPURA BATTERED ONION RINGS *MUD PIE *C-LEVEL FAMOUS MARY drink Complimentary pastries came and they were big, these were good ones, I even asked for more :) Our appetizer, the AHI STACK, was beautiful and sharable, I would order this again the next time we visit here, it's delicious so I really enjoyed this appetizer. I'm glad that our Main courses came at the same time. My Husband's PORTER HOUSE STEAK was very tender and well seasoned, this Steak was well executed. My son's DOUBLE CUT PORK CHOP was good too, but it was not as tender as we had at other restaurants, but taste wise it was a good pork chop. I am usually the last one to finish eating among the three of us, but with this JUMBOPRAWN LINGUINI I finished my plate quickly and even forgot to offer my boys to try some ;) The TEMPURA BATTERED ONION RINGS were good and my husband and son shared this while eating their Meats. My C - LEVEL'S FAMOUS MARY drink was great, but I forgot to ask if they could make it spicier 'coz that's how I like my Bloody Mary, but I still finished this one. For Dessert I ordered the MUD PIE, I love this one, the size is sharable, it's very chocolaty, but not overly sweet. The service was Awesome, our Server made sure that everything we needed on our table was there and he talked to us often, he was a very friendly one. Parking was easy, but even if you park a little bit far you won't get annoyed 'coz you will be enjoying the Ocean view and Ocean breeze while walking to the Restaurant.

(3/5) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Island Prime has a beautiful waterfront view, excellent service, and a solid wine selection.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the atmosphere or price point. The steak lacked seasoning, the mushrooms were bland, and the crab topping was minimal and served lukewarm. The mashed potatoes were also underwhelming and lacked flavor. The lobster tail was disappointingly rubbery. For dessert, the pineapple upside-down cake was dense and heavier than expected, lacking the light, moist texture that typically makes this dessert enjoyable. On the positive side, the fries were very good, the wine selection was impressive, and the staff provided attentive service throughout the evening. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The view is definitely one of the restaurant's strongest features.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, Island Prime delivers a great dining experience in terms of ambiance, service, and scenery, but I wish the food quality matched everything else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For a steakhouse at this price point, I expected much more from the meal itself.

    Dessert was delicious!!

WOW! This place is as amazing as everyone says it is!! We have dined at C-Level in the space next to this awesome restaurant, a lot. We were invited here for a special retirement dinner. The retirement dinner was held in the private room and there were about 40-50 of us. The food and service was absolutely amazing. We had 3 course prix fixe meals, and they were delicious! The upscale and professional wait staff and serving staff are great! Everything was prepared very well, and tasted DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this fine dining restaurant. Highly!

For our last dinner in San Diego for Spring Break 2026, we booked Island Prime. Its a large, festive, steak and seafood place on Harbor Island, close to the airport and sitting next to North San Diego Bay. Plenty of self parking for Mon-Tues night. The views of the water and the whole San Diego skyline were great. As for food quality, we has 3 good dishes and 1 epic fail so overall 3 stars. For apps, each person gets a popover, which is excellent with the creamy herbed butter. I recommend the charred octopus if you like more spicy, tangy flavors with Spanish influence. One key reason I chose Island Prime is for their Chicken under the Brick. My 5yo son and I shared this dish and despite being on the dry side, he managed to eat half the dish. The mashed potatoes were herby and firm, which I liked. We also got a side of grilled asparagus - plump and tender. The epic fail was my wife's Halibut Catch of the Day. Prepares blackened, the fish was overcooked and dry. The crab fried rice was drenched in soy sauce and was borderline inedible. She had to eat the fish and rice together to get some sort of balance. Dessert was a partial save - Key Lime Pie was a huge tartlet close to an inch in height. Sweet, crumbly graham cracker crust and smooth, tart filling with pomegranate drizzle. Excellent. Island Prime has been around for a while but if we were to return, its best to stick with scallops or meat dishes.

Come for the views, stay for the food. Recently visited for a friends bday dinner. While here I had the following: Steak & Asparagus-perfectly prepared, nicely seasoned and adequately sized for the price. Oysters-briny and deelish. Steak tartare-tender and amply sized. The homemade chips was a nice touch. Would've loved a few more to accommodate for the amount of tartare. Frites-crispy, golden and deelish. Ambiance is low lit and sophisticated at night. Service was friendly and fast. I'd definitely patronized again.

Was debating on posting thia review because I truly hate not enjoying a restaurant the way I envisioned. However when I took everything into consideration, I felt it to be necessary to highlight the parts we enjoyed and the parts that made me give the 3 stars. Th pros: that view! That view alone is 6/5 stars it was so breathtaking and one of the reasons why we chose to come here. As a person who has always hated mashed potatoes and just recently started getting myself to try and like them these blew me away. So creamy and flavorful and perfect. The bread the give you at the beggining is also quite tasty, slighly sweet and buttery. My husband also said the lobster was probably the best one he's had and the butter container was such a creative gadget. Also the anniversary dessert we were given was rich and really good. The cons: We ordered our steaks medium and while they were quite good and did have a slight pink in the middle of the filet, for the most part it was cooked medium well. We are not ones to send food back so we ate them and figured their medium might be different than what we have previously had. The asparagus I wanted to like so bad and while that citrus lemon flavor was good the bottom of the stalk was not cut off so it was stringy and hard to chew and honestly kind of hard to fully enjoy. The service from our server was also Ok. Not bad but also not great or anything that stood out as we did not seem him a lot. The other staff that filled our water and dropped off our plates were attentive and kind.

We wanted to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and of course we chose Island Prime. The touch of elegance in making a couple feel special is Prime and they did not disappoint. The minute we walked in at the host stand to the time we were seated everyone recognized us and we were graciously greeted with a welcome. Seth, our server for the evening, was the perfect individual to help us in our celebration. The wine we chose to the food election was perfection which went along the gorgeous view of the city. The filet trio was both our choice and the Sainte-Emilio Les Cadrans Bordeaux blended perfectly with our wonderful evening.

Very very nice supper. Our server, Scotty, took really good . . . No, scratch that. Scotty was phenomenal!!! Of the best service I have ever witnessed. Oh, and I did catch a momentary glimpse of Chef Deb walking out from the kitchen wearing a jean apron, with her phone up to her ear. We had just left the NAVY base San Diego NASCAR event this Saturday afternoon. The race was a real s"!t show and we were VERY ready for some Island Prime delight. CRG delivered. We started off with cocktails next door at C-Level, because we had some time to burn before our reservation time. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, and then Scotty took over. We had Oysters, Shishito Peppers, Asparagus, a baked potato, Linguini, Shrimps, Ahi and a Skirt Steak. Oh and don't forget about Chef Deb's Popovers. Scotty just kept bringing 'em popovers. I don't know quite what Scotty brought out for dessert, but we smiled . . . a lot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A fine dining atmosphere, topped only by the view, the food, a Chef Deb sighting and Scotty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Oh and do read the bottom edge of the menu about a 5% up charge. We decided to ask for that removed and applied the extra 5% to the outstanding service. An awfully darn good place. CritDicks

I visited here for my second time on 04/01/2026 with a reservation at 5:15pm. We had a party of four. This is still a very popular place. When we sat at that early time, it was still pretty empty; however, when we left at 7pm -- it was almost to 100% capacity. The view remains beautiful, same location, same beautiful view. The sunset is spectacular as you dine out over the water. This time we feel it slipped one star, because the service was just really slow at times. We had a server that we have had before, and we don't blame him; however, it is likely due to the assignment of one too many tables. There were delays of things like 15 minutes before clearing the table and delivery of the dessert menu. Otherwise, the food remained really good. I feel that the prices are reasonable considering the type of restaurant, view, and location. I had the chicken under a brick, which was a delicious bone in chicken breast with potatoes, onion, chili and chimichurri. Yum! The table shared sides of brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. Both were delicious and both were topped with pork belly, so you have to love it!

After a great experience at C-Level, we came back to try Island Prime. Both spots share the same Harbor Island building, kitchen, and Executive Chef , with the same panoramic skyline views. When you walk in, Island Prime is to the right, C-Level to the left. The biggest difference is the vibe. C-Level is casual, lively, and mostly outdoors, while Island Prime is an indoor, more upscale steakhouse . The space is dimly lit and intimate. The menu at Island Prime leans toward high-end steaks and seafood with higher prices, while C-Level offers more casual, California-style dishes. Despite the differences, you can see the shared kitchen influence. Everything we ordered at Island Prime was fresh, perfectly cooked, and just as enjoyable, with the same great service we experienced at C-Level. Overall, a good experience. Great views, relaxing atmosphere, and solid food, especially if you're looking for a more refined alternative to C-Level.

Do you guys do anything special for celebrations- wedding?

    yes...

    Do you offer outdoor seating?

Island prime I believe does not. It is more indoor fine dining. The other restaurant that is attached called C level has beautiful outdoor seating.

Does attire matter? Can I come in just my casual clothes or do I need my suit?

I would say casual jeans and a bottom up shirt is fine.

What's the difference between booking a reservation for C Level or Island Prime? I'm confused. Are they not the same restaurant?

They are not the same restaurant. C Level is mainly an outdoor restaurant and Island Prime is all indoors. They have some of the same menu items, but C Level is a little more casual and not as upscale as Island Prime. Both fantastic restaurants, so…

    May I set a reservation?

Yes. I recommend getting a reservation.

I booked a reservation but it's for 8:45 on a week night do they stop seating guest at 9:00 or is it they close at 9:00?

Dinner is about a two hour event with appetizers, entree, and dessert so this is probably the reason for no seating after 9 pm.

Are you guys reopening anytime soon?

Hi Jess, Island Prime does not have a reopening date as of right now. We are hoping the county…

    Are there heaters outside?

Island Prime does not have an outside area. C-Level has a patio which does have heaters, but…

Is Island Prime accepting walk-in customers or reservations only?

Hi Lilah, Island Prime encourages reservations, but will accept walk-ins based on availability.…

    Are dogs allowed?

    Yes

What's the price range for 2 people?

$150-$180 with apps, entrees, desserts, and beverages. But so worth it.

How is the parking here? Is it only valet?

There is a small lot that is not valet, but it fills up early.

    What is the attire?

    Business casual/dressy

We like to start with a salad so we decided to share a Caesar salad specially after we saw them preparing it to the table next to us. The Caesar salad is definitely a must and it was our favourite. I had never had a Caesar salad that actually used anchovies and I loved it. The steak tartar was good, but not the best I've had. I did like that it included the yolk on the top and the chips were good and it had a good flavour but it just seemed a little too salty for me. We had a ribeye steak to share that was perfectly cooked medium rare and the butter was delicious for the sides. We had the truffle fries and we had the onions on red wine. The onions were my favourite part of the sides. I could not leave without the dessert and we decided to go with a banana foster. They do a table side show that was amazing and it was a delicious dessert. Service throughout the night was great. Overall, I will say that I will be back for Drinks and if we decide to have a meal here, I would definitely get the Caesar salad the onion on red wine side and the banana foster. The steak was good, just not great I would be willing to try a different cut or protein. For the pricetag, I would've expected everything to be great, which is why four.

The cocktails, service and food is all really solid but my favorite thing is the old school feel of the design. It's dark, warm and has a nostalgic Rat Pack vibe. We love the black and white photos throughout. Nothing better than meatball Mondays when they serve insanely good meatballs and homemade Bucatini pasta (pic 12). What better to accompany that deliciousness than some signature cocktails. Some of the fam loved the "Fields of Italy." (Pic 3) It's a fresh, crispy champagne cocktail made with vodka, Aperol, St. Germain, strawberry/basil jam, lemon and prosecco. It was perfect for a summer day. I had one of my favs that has been on the menu for a while now called "Party with Elvis." (Pic 5) It starts out like a boss with walnut-infused bourbon, Montenegro (Italian Amaro), tiki bitters, orange bitters and an orange garnish. It's exceptional!!! The last cocktail in the rotation was a traditional Manhattan that always goes perfect with a plate of Italian love (pic 13). It's always classic and the Moe's staff captures it perfectly with Basil Hayden bourbon, Antica sweet vermouth and angostura bitters. If you haven't been to Moe's, you should make the effort because they never disappoint. It's easy to find bright, fancy joints throughout San Diego, but they're an elevated old school gem that's hard to find. Came here with friends for dinner…read more I started with one of their signature cocktails, the Hot streak, blanco tequila, dried pineapple, lime, jalapeño and basil. Basically a spicy pineapple margarita, it was delicious, the pineapple stood out and so did the spiciness of the Jalapeño. It was both sweet and spicy. Got the Hamachi crudo which came with curry aioli, pickled pineapple, peanut crunch, yuzu and Serrano peppers. It was ok, pretty standard hamachi sashimi in a ponzu type sauce. The Hamachi was tender and the sauce flavorful but not so different than any other you've had. Shrimp Cocktail came on a bed of ice and nicely cooked. Firm and sweet. Dusted with old bay and came with lemon and cocktail sauce. Oysters on the half shell also came on a bed of ice. They were fresh and briny. There were two types; east and west coast they were notably different. One was more briny than the other, I cant remember which. It came with mignonette, horseradish, hot sauce and lemon. I only needed lemon. they were fresh and went down easy! It's listed as Bacon on the menu but it is the furthest thing from bacon. It's basically a slow cooked tender pork belly sliced to about 3/4" then glazed with a soy/gochujang sauce under the broiler and topped with chives. Super tender and tasty with a little heat from the gochujang. A definite must! BBQ dry aged meat balls: A mixture of pork and beef, I thought were good but not as special as the Bacon. They were meaty and flavorful but I think if you're getting a steak you can get your meat fix there. The Parker house rolls were amazing! They came in a cast iron skillet topped with truffle butter and herbs, They were so soft and airy and the truffle butter was so good. Im not usually a fan of truffle butter, it's often too strong a flavor but somehow this was very good and balanced. Caesar salad, says comes with "a lot of pecorino" man they weren't kidding! It was covered in cheese! I liked the crispy romaine lettuce, cheese, and croutons, it came with a fried anchovy which I didn't really care for. It was a nice touch and very different but I guess im not a fan of straight up anchovies, I prefer them mixed into a sauce where they just add saltines and flavor. I guess if I took a small bite with each bite of salad. I got the 16 oz cedar river prime ribeye. It was super tender and cooked to perfect medium. We got a bunch of sauces but they were not necessary. My friends loved the creamy horseradish, I think it just covers up the steak. I feel like most places under temp there steaks these days. USDA medium rare is 130º which is a pink center, most places go by sight or feel which is a red center. So I always go with medium which is think is actually 130º (USDA medium rare). For sides we shared Shell Mac, which was very cheesy and gooey! Excellent granted that I don't usually like Mac and cheese. Whipped potatoes were very smooth. too smooth for me in fact, but my friends liked it a lot. Truffled creamed spinach again very smooth and creamy and I loved the truffled flavor which I usually don't like. Maybe they use actual truffles or truffle powder rather than truffle oil. IDK but it's unusual for me to like truffled items. For dessert we got the butter cake and brookie tart. The butter cake came topped with sourcream ice cream, the cake was soft and buttery and ice cream was smooth and creamy. I preferred the brookie tart, the chocolate cookie/brownie had a nice crunch and a good chocolate flavor. The chocolate ice cream further enhanced the chocolate flavor while adding a nice contrast in texture. if you like vanilla then go for the butter cake if you like chocolate go for the brookie tart. Rare Society is a smaller steak house, run by the Trust group and chef Brad Wise. Service was great, very attentive. There is no private lot but I easily found parking on the street on a week night. The standouts were the Bacon, Parker house rolls, steak, shell Mac, truffled creamed spinach. and brookie tart. I'd highly recommend reservations.

You are never rushed I just truly wish they offered more in their dessert menu; I don't enjoy fruits due to an allergy so there wasn't a lot to choose from- a creme brulee or cheesecake even a brownie would have sealed the deal The layout has adjusted throughout the years and there's way more seating then before with the additional bar seating which may make those seats feel a little less intimate but we prefer it and watching their kitchen staff is wonderful they really do an incredible job. This is probably the longest overdue review I have ever written, but at this point, not writing it…read morealmost feels selfish because I would very much like to always be able to get a table here. But alas, Carbon Angela's Kitchen deserves every flower, every reservation, every "you have to try this place" text thread, and every bit of love. This place has become one of my absolute favorite hidden gems in San Diego. Easily top five for me, and as someone who dines out a lot for a living, that is not a casual statement. There are places you like, places you recommend, and then there are places that start to feel woven into your actual life. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is that for me. Angela is truly the heart of this place. She has this way of making you feel like you are not just coming in for dinner, but being welcomed into something she deeply cares about. And Emanuele is absolutely part of that magic too. Together, they have built something that feels warm, generous, soulful, and so special. They feel like long-lost friends and family now, and I am honestly just so proud of them and all they are creating. The food is the kind that makes you want to order with the whole table in mind. The griglia mista is hands down one of the best investments you can make if you are dining with a group. It is the meat platter, it is the moment, and it is absolutely worth ordering. Four to five people can split it, especially if you are also doing appetizers, salad, wine, and a few extra things for the table. It is such a perfect nod to what Carbon was before Angela took over, when the space leaned more BBQ, but now it feels beautifully married with Angela's warmth, Italian influence, and the kind of hospitality that makes the whole meal feel like an experience. And please do not sleep on the rest of the menu. The short rib is fire. The arancino trio is always a yes. The eggplant croquette? Obsessed. The crespelle? So good. The Everything Salad is my favorite salad on the menu, and the street corn should never, under any circumstances, be skipped. I said what I said. The wine selection is top tier, the appetizers are memorable, and the whole place has that rare magic of feeling cozy, intentional, and completely unpretentious. You can come for a low-key dinner, a girls' night, a celebration, or one of those "we just need a really good meal and a really good glass of wine" kind of evenings. And the back patio? Perfect for an evening under twinkling lights. It is one of those spaces that just begs for a long table, good conversation, clinking glasses, and the kind of night that accidentally turns into a core memory. They also have catering menus available, which is very important information to keep in your back pocket if you are hosting anything soon. What Angela has built is honestly something to behold. One of the hardest-working restaurateurs doing the dang thing in a city like San Diego, and now opening Bedda across the way too? I am in awe and wonder watching it all unfold. It takes so much courage, grit, taste, excellence, and heart to build what they are building, and you can feel all of it in the room. Carbon Angela's Kitchen is a true labor of love, a hidden gem, and one of those places I will keep cheering for again and again. Go hungry. Order the griglia mista. Get the Everything Salad. Do not skip the street corn. Share Share Share, so you can try a little bit of everything and do a tried and true family style meal, you won't regret it.

She started us off with some fresh baked Focaccia which had herb + cheese baked into the top (of course it was delicious). We added an appetizer called Crespelle which was a really yummy spin on a Manicotti made the right way (with a Crespelle). The salad was fresh and tasty. We order the Rigatoni Sugo which has a Tomato based sauce and assorted meats (Meatballs, Sausage, Cubes of meat) and was delicious along with the meats as well. We also added the Picanha Steak Entree with the Brie Fondue and that was so different while being soooo yummy.
