Their food was so fresh and their service was amazing! They were friendly and accommodated more people to my reservation last minute. Their food was fresh and authentic and the outdoor seating was very nice. I did notice the tiny bugs started coming around when the food came out but not a lot. Very yummy and would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting San Diego.

Met up with some friends at Azuki We ended up with a late reservation since it was all that was available and were seated on the front outdoor patio. The sushi was good, fresh and well-made, but nothing really stood out or wowed me. Service was the biggest letdown. Our server took a long time to check on us, and when she finally did, the interaction felt both rushed and a little pushy. Parking can be a bit tricky. There's paid street parking and a nearby paid lot, so give yourself a little extra time. Overall, the food was solid, but between the service and the overall experience, I'm not sure I'd go back. I'd give it a 3.5/5.

It was our first time at Azuki Sushi and we were thoroughly impressed. We were able to get a reservation upstairs, which is quaint, feels more private, and just a cool vibe - think of almost a sushi speakeasy. The food was delicious and fresh, you could tell they used high quality fish for all their dishes. We started with spicy garlic edamame, which was the best I have ever had, and hamachi Kama which is also a must. For mains I enjoyed the By the Border roll and spicy hamachi, and my husband had the nigiri plate. We were not disappointed. The sushi was so fresh, the flavors were stand out, and you could taste the quality. All in all we would definitely go back and can't wait for another date night!

Such an amazing experience. The staff was so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Parking can be kind of a challenge, but it's well worth it. Definitely, a treat yourself place, but the food was worth it! It has a great energy, and you can really just have a blast with your friends. The fish is fresh and the lobster was some of the best I've had. Creativity and care goes into everything they serve.

Food: Overall the food isn't bad but I didn't find anything mind blowing or special as it was made out to be because I know how popular this spot is. Although, it was still enjoyable! Crispy Rice & Spicy Tuna (9/10) - loved the crisp and the flavor. it wasn't too spicy and the spice was more for a little kick of flavor Stardust (7/10) - wasn't as citrusy as i thought with the lemon but tasted fine. it was basic in flavor but still good Spicy Salmon Hand Roll (8/10) - it was made well and it was good but nothing too special either Super Dragon (9/10) - the sweet potato was such an interesting and nice touch. really good flavor combination Service: Service is a bit slow since the beginning even to seat you even with a reservation but they remained very kind throughout the experience. Ambiance: It's a bit small but we were sat upstairs in another room with seating and since it's small, when it's packed it can get really loud with everyone talking. The vibes of the place is dimlit and not too upscale but also not too casual. It's just a very nice restaurant vibes

Man, these guys are consistently producing high quality dishes in a modern, chic ambiance with friendly service. We were lucky to snag a table on Thursday night for two without any resy's. We were offered a two person table upstairs, which I prefer. Started with the Azuki salad that's perfect for sharing. The dressing is light and lots on the plate including avocado, taro chips, cucumber, and apples. Textures and flavors go so well together. I also got a spicy tuna hand roll, the Kobe Roll, and a few nigiri's including Hamachi, Chutoro, and Salmon belly. All were delicious but the Chutoro was the fave. Finished dinner with a burnt butter mochi cake complete with ice cream and some strawberry sauce. Def glad we stopped in and will def be back for more.

This is my favorite restaurant everrrr! I've only ever dined upstairs, and the vibes are great. There's a skylight for natural lighting. The food is even better than the ambiance, though! Amazing quality on everything. The sashimi is so soft and not fishy at all. Karaage is juicy and umami. Only thing I'd recommend avoiding is the soft drinks. It's quite pricy and they charge for refills.

This is a really cute trendy sushi place. It is small and intimate so be prepared for that. They have indoor, upstairs, and outdoor seating with heating lamps for comfort. I showed up around 530pm on a Tuesday and they open at 5pm. It was people waiting to be seated which is a good sign if you ask me. Lol. However I realized it's because they have literally ONE happy hour from 5pm-6pm so if you're looking for that show up when they open. The sushi was AMAZING. I had the By The Border Roll and the Stardust roll. I also had a gimlet and a whiskey sour. They have an amazing selection of Japanese Whiskey. 10/10 would recommend. Worth every penny. Also, my bartender Matt was really cool and had great customer service.

Went here for a girls' night and it was the perfect spot! The ambiance was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the whole experience was amazing. The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and it was the perfect place to catch up with friends.

I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday. I reserved a table for us right at opening time, 5pm. Seating: We chose to sit on the upper floor. Upper floor was more intimate and quiet, whereas bottom floor was more busy and loud Service: Our server was attentive, and they were quick to bring out our dishes, refill our waters, and take our finished dishes. We even received a complimentary birthday dessert! However, maybe because it started to get busy, it did take a little while longer to get the bill and check out. Food: We ordered: Spicy Garlic Edamame, Oysters, a few handrolls, Albacore Tataki, and a specialty roll. We came during happy hour (M-F til 6pm) which was so worth! Hand rolls, edamame, and tataki were discounted. The spicy garlic edamame was so good, not too salty and perfect baby pinch of spice. Oysters were fresh! The hand rolls and specialty rolls were to die for, not too salty or overpowering in taste. Our dessert was red bean and black sesame flavor ice cream. Perfect ending touch, light ice cream without being overly sweet. Only thing to note is parking. There is no designated parking lot. Outside street parking is available but may have to drive around a few blocks to find a spot. There is meter parking on streets as well. We only had to park down the street luckily! Overall, I'd most definitely come back for a special occasion or dinner!

We came to Azuki Sushi Lounge for a birthday dinner. Luckily we had a reservation, because when we arrived at 5pm, just about every table was full. I had debated whether to reserve upstairs or downstairs and ultimately chose upstairs and I was happy with that decision for the two of us, as it was a bit more relaxing and I liked the decor. There was however, a large table of about 8 people in the center of the room that were quite noisy. Downstairs definitely had a more 'hustle bustle' atmosphere with large booths and a long sushi bar. (There is also some outdoor 'Covid' style seating). We ordered sake, a couple of sushi rolls and negiri. They were kind enough to supply a complimentary birthday ice-cream dessert with a candle. Service was very attentive and as we passed the sushi bar on the way out, staff behind the bar waived goodbye. Parking: We were able to park near First and Laurel streets for free on a Saturday afternoon. A very classy sushi place. I definitely recommend a visit for a special occasion or perhaps if visiting nearby Balboa Park or the Old Globe Theater. Helpful?

Phenomenal! I'm not a big fan of salmon but the salmon here was amazing! I also had a strawberry matcha gin drink and it was so good, even my bf liked it and he's not a fan of cutesey drinks.

Seriously??? It's been 10 years???? I can't believe it!!! But when you need to meet up with the one friend who worked with you when you first got to San Diego, this is the place to go! He was also familiar with the place and knows the owner. Azuki is one of the more interesting and innovative sushi bars in San Diego. They did change the interior which I loved! The menu has changed but they still prepare some of the most interesting rolls. I can't tell you what we ordered because JD did most of it. Our one non-sushi friend ordered the delicious chicken teriyaki. Their preparation is one of the best! If you are looking for somewhere special to go to for sushi and Japanese food, this is the place! They also have outside seating. The staff is great! I do look forward to coming back much sooner than before!

I asked her what she wanted and she said, "seafood", so I immediately thought of Blue Water, and we drove right over. We parked at a metered spot nearby & walked in at 5pm. Do note that there is no dedicated parking for Blue Water, so at busy times it may be tricky to find a spot, but we had no trouble today. In the main dining ordering area & on the side patio, there were a few tables that were occupied, but there was no ordering line. All of us wanted shrimp today apparently, so my dad and I both got a shrimp taco with lemon garlic butter & my hungry mom got the shrimp platter also with lemon garlic butter. The platter came with 8 shrimp, jasmine rice, and a lovely, fresh garden salad. The server who took our order and brought it out to us was very helpful & nice. They have a ton of fresh seafood on offer though so if shrimp is not your thing, there will likely be another delightful offering from the sea that will suit your fancy. We sat in the side patio area and it was very pleasant. We enjoyed our experience this evening very much! The tacos were big and had more than 5 shrimp in them, plus cabbage, pico, cheddar cheese & white sauce. One taco was pretty decently sized. If I'd been hungrier, two tacos would've been perfect, but today, I was happy with one taco. Yum! Mom enjoyed her platter. It was beautifully prepared. Blue Water also has a decent soft drink selection and beers and wine, but we all just had their water and it was very refreshing! :) By the time we left at 5:45, a line was forming out the door, so we really came out at a good time. Peace!

Arrived around 5:15pm, and there wasn't a line, but the restaurant had a good amount of diners. Pretty good ventilation at the front of the restaurant, but the back part of the restaurant, likely the overflow room was where my family and I were seated. It had a funky smell to the area and there was poor ventilation. I wanted to step out but I refrained. Everything felt stuffy in that section. The only nice person was the male staff member at the front for checkin. The rest of the staff were not very friendly. The hostess who walked us to our table was not very friendly and just rushed things. Took our drink orders, and didn't say much. Just walked off. I was surprised to see the pitchers with the beverages were sitting on top of a counter outside where customers are, without any lids. Anyone can just walk by and touch or spit in them. Thought that was not very hygienic... Different sections of food. I never expect food at buffets to be of good quality or taste excellent, so the food items were all mediocre. The teppanyaki grill was... well, let's just say they use the same spatula for everyone's entreés. You load up your plate and the cook throws everything on the grill. Uses the same spatulas to cook everyone's food. If you have allergies or sensitivity to spice, then probably avoid this section. He cooked the meat for someone else's plate and then touched the veggies for the other. Used mod spice level sauce for one, and then same spatula on my entreé. My order was non-spicy, but it had a kick since the neighboring sauce got onto my stir fry. Dessert section isn't even labeled.... meaning, the baked/dessert items aren't labeled other than the gelato flavors. Crab legs were very salty. Lobster claws in the cold section were OK though. The warm lobster they serve is limited to 1 per person per serving. Long line, and if they run out, you have to wait or return when they serve again. People were waiting in line while eating their food... the lobsters are tiny, dry, and with very little meat. It is definitely not worth paying the extra for lobster night. The amount of waiting time is ridiculous and there is no guarantee that you can even get a lobster. Some groups have 1 person waiting in line and then when it is their turn, the rest of the group members (5-7) cut the whole line to each get a lobster. I was trying to get 1 for my mother, and I didn't get to eat one, but didn't mind since it didn't even look good. Rest of the foods were mediocre too. I had 1 plate that wasn't even full... lost my appetite. Wouldn't return. Hygiene.... cross contamination... Some people say this place is like the old Pala casino buffet or Las Vegas buffet- definitely not the case. Parking can be compact. Gets busy around 5:45p it seems as more people were waiting in the lobby.

My daughter ordered the shrimp cowboy sandwich, rhe bread was so soft, yum. Everything was freshly made and hot when it arrived, the way I like it. Not salty, ehixh is fabulous. Crispy and lightly breaded, perfection. Perfect portions. I ate most of it with a few fries left I would definitely come back!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I've been coming here since they opened but haven't been here in awhile,…read morebut sure have missed it. Came here during HH with my daughter... which is the best time to come, but come early as it does get PACKED! You order right when you walk up to the register and then find a table. HH is 3-6pm DAILY!! Their HH menu is the best deal and so very tasty! My HH favorites...The poke nachos, chowder fries and shishito peppers! My daughter really liked the lemon pepper wings (on the HH menu too). Not on the HH menu but two of my other favorites are the (garlicky) brussel sprouts and the spicy poke and crispy rice! HH - Craft beers are $5... can't beat that! This place is great addition to Scripps!! The owners are super friendly as well as the staff!

They have a great happy hour with great prices and good food! We went on a weeknight around 5:30pm,…read moreand it was pretty packed with a short wait to order at the register. We ordered the fish tacos, poke nachos, chowder fries, and clams with chorizo. Our favorites were the fish taco and poke nachos. The chowder fries were good, but the chowder seemed a bit too salty (same with the chorizo and tomato sauce). The portions were larger than I expected for happy hour which was nice. The service was also fast and friendly despite it being busy. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!
