Nogi Sushi has been in the neighborhood for a while, and since I couldn't decide what to eat one night, we decided to give it a try. There's a good amount of free parking available in the plaza, which is always a plus. Inside, the restaurant has a beautiful layout with bench seating, warm wooden panels, and even a feature wall decorated with ramen noodles. There's plenty of seating, making it comfortable for groups. We were greeted and seated right away, which was a great start. The prices are very attractive, especially the bento boxes. The beef bento is $12.99 and the tempura bento is $14.99, both of which come with miso soup, a drink, and a mini pudding for dessert. Great value overall. The tempura was quite good, with a light, non-greasy batter that wasn't too thick. I really appreciated the variety, including enoki mushrooms and eggplant--items you don't always see. There are also lots of sides, like Japanese salad with sesame dressing, seaweed salad, gyoza, and half a soft-boiled egg (cooked perfectly!) The maki was just okay--nothing particularly memorable. The rice was a bit wet, and the flavor didn't stand out, but it's decent enough if you're looking to satisfy a sushi craving at a reasonable price. No indications to question or doubt the freshness. Dessert was a mini mango pudding with coconut jelly. It was fine, though the mango flavor was a bit diluted. Overall, it's hard to complain given the portion sizes and pricing. Service was friendly and efficient, with tables cleared promptly. It seemed like there was only one server and one chef, but they managed things well. read more

Sashimi platter was very fresh. Not bad for the price and variety they had. Tried a bunch of apps and set meals as well as their omakase set and rolls. They were so understaffed so it was hard to get staff attention. Get our waters refilled (tea costed extra btw). Asked for missing items we ordered. Why we came here...we heard there was a $9.99 bento lunch special that is offered between 11 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday. This place used to be an all you can eat but we suspect there had been an ownership change and now the business model is à la carte. There is a notice on the door announcing this change. Now the lunch. Really good options from cooked items to rolls to sashimi. Everyone starts with miso soup. The tea that is served is Chinese not green tea and everyone gets a pot for the table. What was ordered: Orleans chicken bento box - basically teriyaki chicken Fried chicken bento box - basically katsu chicken The quality? It was okay. For 10 bucks you have to manage expectations. The bento boxes all come with an avocado rolls, cabbage salad and seaweed salad and rice of course. The fried chicken was really thin but crispy. The Orleans chicken was flavourful and served on top of the rice. The service was a bit slow. There was one guy cleaning and serving (ordering is done via QR code). When we arrived the place was full and there were 2 other groups ahead of us. We watched tables being cleaned and set up and we knew there was a table vacant but for some reason we were not seated until almost 5 minutes after the last group. I am wondering if this was to help the kitchen by staggering orders but it was maddening to stand there and watch knowing there was a table ready. Payment is cash or debit only. read more

This is a relatively new sushi AYCE place at Hwy 7/ Bayview, lots of promotions on social media. Their lunch AYCE is $24.99 with lots of options of sashimi which is a catch. Unfortunately I went in a little bit too late today to try their AYCE lunch, but their set lunch instead $13.95 sushi, roll and sashimi has exceeded my expectation. Wow, a beautiful wooden bridge loaded with many chef's choice sashimi, sushi and rolls, what a deal. The restaurant is not big, but decorated well with intricate details. Service is attentive and polite. Will definitely come back to try their AYCE next time. Just had their AYCE lunch today, this is the only place serving sashimi at lunch time. The sashimi is very thick and fresh. Each person can order up 10 pieces, I ordered 5 pieces, almost full. They have so many choices from sushi to soup to hot dishes, endless choices. I only tried very few items, the eel sushi was my favorite. The eel was so tasty, I love their sushi rice, very well cooked and seasoned, not too soft or hard. The only complaint is the Yaki Tori, they don't season well, very bland. Overall, it is a very high valued AYCE lunch at $24.99 with sashimi. read more

Me and my friends always had this place on the to try list but never had the opportunity to try until now. Sushi and rolls are a little heavy on rice and extra heavy on cucumbers. I wish i took a picture but 75% of the rolls were cucumber on the inside. Flavor wise it was very good ignoring the cucumber. Sashimi was on the thicker side which is a pro and a con. You get a small slice of salmon belly when you order sashimi which was nice. Service was quick. I wished they had iced water instead of room temperature. Located inside the plaza with Ten Ren and Popeyes. Inside there are lots of seats available, all booths and a small high seated semi private area. Service is pretty prompt, food came out quick. Had to ask for tempura sauce instead of it coming out at the same time as when they brought out tempura. Lunch is only $24.99 per person with 10 sashimi each which is really good for AYCE at lunch. Food is mediocre, nothing amazing in my opinion. Tempura was really good, great crunch. On the menu to order the pictures are different from what you get. Example the dragon roll is 4 pieces and huge, the menu photo is about 6 small pieces. Another example is the spicy crab salad roll which was not a crab salad when we got it. It was more of a crab stick with crunchy beside it.. Getting help for the bill took a while, had to say excuse me a lot. Also when they hand out the food it's kind of non-chalant, no smile. We say thank you and we're ignored ? Lol. That's fine though. Not sure if I'll return. Maybe if all my friends want to go and majority ruled. read more

We waited around 40 minutes on a Saturday night, so reservations or early arrival are a good idea. That said, the staff handled the crowd well, and the service was excellent throughout. Came here for their ayce sushi experience. Lots of items of their menu, with plenty of variety. Sashimi selection available during the lunch hours. Honestly was let down by the service. If it weren't so slow, it would have probably gotten a 4 star. Ambiance - casual, with booths and private seating to have a nice personal catch up with a friend which is nice. You're able to order sushi / items via iPad and items came out fairly quickly. Closing out the tab did take way longer than expected, had to walk to the front to close out because they didn't realize we wanted to leave. All in all, it was an alright experience. Food was good, but nothing I wouldn't go out of my way for. If you're looking ayce in the area, it's a decent option, but unsure if I would go out of my way for this. read more

Great deal for AYCE lunch as it includes sashimi for 24.99 per person. The quality though is so so. Salmon sashimi is quite fatty and the fried foods are very brownish in color. This is the best value sushi ayce I have been to lately. It's hard to find any sushi much less an ayce place for less than 30$ a person and including sashimi. The restaurant is small and right off Hwy 7 next to a Tim Hortons. The interior is decorated quite nice with an interesting wall covered with instant ramen packets. Very instagram worthy. Service was also really fast and attentive servers. I will admit some of the fish was frozen a bit when it arrived but it's fine for the price. The menu has a good variety and is the same for both lunch and dinner menu ( the only difference is that there is a limit on sashimi for lunch). The one thing we ordered that was nasty was the fried chicken. They legit took a hainan style chicken and deep fried it. Definitely avoid this. All in all a solid ayce place if you're craving sushi and want to stuff your face without breaking the bank. read more

So I came here on a Monday night as I was just across in the plaza for another appointment. I saw price was decent so let's try but the food was super average. The sashimi was small and thick slices with quite good selection but I don't think it is the freshest. They had white and red tuna, salmon, mackerel, squid, octopus, crab meat, egg and a few others. The oden soup was really just Chinese pork and fishball in a chicken broth I think. The ramen soup was really toppings on vermicelli (mi fen) not really ramen so was disappointed. The hot foods we try was average the takoyaki came out super cold like not fresh that I couldn't even finish the first one. The service had like none it was just scan and order the staff didn't check if food was good or if we needed anything. This restaurant took over Konjiki Ramen, they pretty much kept the same decor. Service was extremely slow, we ordered about 7 dishes and received them 1 dish at a time... ended up dining for 2 hours. The waitresses were attentive and kind. Food was below average, the quality of fish was not great. I'm not a sushi connoisseur, but I could tell the difference and that should say something. They sold out of 2 dishes, one of them being all ramens/udons due to the soup not being "good" enough to serve, and the other being the "Volcano Roll". Otherwise, nothing was memorable. At first it was terrible service then the lady working there forced me and my friends to tip with a very bad attitude knowing we are students that don't have income. Then when we tried tipping with cash the lady there rolled her eyes and said no. Then at the very end we realized she ended up already including a tip/service fee as a part of the purchase without letting any of us know.
