DO NOT COME HERE. I came in expecting to pay around $280 for a single color and haircut--$180 for the color (since my hair is long) and $100 for the cut. When I arrived, I was told my hair was too dark for the color to show and was advised to get highlights instead. I agreed, but at no point was I informed of the major price increase. The final bill? $645. I was charged $380 for color, $100 for toner, $120 for the haircut, plus tax. I was completely blindsided. While I will say the hair came out beautiful and the stylist, Umma, did an amazing job, the owner failed to mention that switching to highlights would result in such a drastic price difference. That kind of information should absolutely be communicated up front. When I voiced my concerns, the owner told me I should have known what comes with highlights and that toner is always part of the process--placing the blame on me instead of acknowledging the lack of transparency. I've been to many salons--like Dolls by Henry--where I paid around $500 and received a true luxury experience, complete with champagne. Here, I wasn't even offered water. This place is overpriced, misleading, and lacks basic customer care. I do not recommend it to anyone. read more

I just get out of this salon after 1 hour and 40 min. I asked for a blow dry and this is the worst I've ever had anywhere in the world. How is it possible that it takes soooo long to do this and I ended up with the curls on top and straight the lower part!!!! This is horrific, I Do NOT RECOMMEND this place at all!!! $50 for this? I booked an appointment there's because I needed my hair to be done for a lat minute dinner. I checked the reviews here and I don't know who put this reviews but they are definitely not accurate. Update: changing review despite previous unfortunate cut b/c I also found Penny here, she was a great haircutter. I was told she left. Terrible loss, best women's cut for a reasonable price in NYC. Summer 2022, got a regular trim from Loredana for $55, not including tax/tip. Used to be $38 pre-covid, but times are tough and that's probably much cheaper than much of Greenwich Village. I just want to maintain my long layers neatly, can't attest to anything else this place does. If you are in the NYU area and need a quick women's hair cut, you could do much worse than here. Jasmine did permanent structural damage to my curly, weak hair, stretching it, ripping it, shearing it close to the crown, snapping it like twine. She split the whole top layer from shoulder to crown. No one should cut straight hair, curly hair, or ANY HAIR the way she did. She sheared from all the way up the side of my head trying to make short "layers" by pulling it tight while wet. Curly haired people and anyone else that likes having their ends neat/out of their faces beware. If you only want the (lower?) ends touched, don't let them give you "long layers" without having them demonstrate where they'll cut, tell them you don't want shears, and show them how you'll be wearing your hair most of the time so that they don't cut out every below the ear when you go in for a half in trim and some angling/beveling. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE- i am new to the neighborhood and so finding a good salon was important. Luckily I have NOHO hair salon in walking distance. I came in with SO MANY different colors on my hair. Underneath blonde mid top dark and top light honey plus new growth. All box coloring. Rafael took me on. And we had a great conversation of the reality of what could be done with my hair that would not damage it. Semi Permanent color was the decision and it was the best. Finally got my hair one color. Penny took over to wash me and blow dry. She was delightful. She is gentle and talented. I got complimented immediately after leaving the salon. I got a great cut from Ricardo! I just started working in the area and have had a hard time finding somewhere that can just do a simple fade and not mess something up - cut to yesterday when I FINALLY found that place! Four stars due to communication leading up to my appointment. I scheduled a time through their website and was emailed shortly after to ask what kind of cut I'd like, and when I wanted to come in (weird, since I had set this already on their site). When I got there, Ricardo greeted me and seemed to have no knowledge of my appointment or about my desired cut, despite all of this being communicated beforehand. Either give your stylists access to those communications, or just don't contact clients beforehand at all...it's confusing. Overall, this place is great! read more

When I arrived for my hair styling appointment, I was greeted by a very rude and unprofessional old man. I suspect he had no to little work experience as a hair stylist. When he washed my hair, he splashed tons of water on my dress. When he blew-dry my hair, my hair almost got burned. I had to stop him from blowing my hair and wanted to ask another stylist. Unfortunately his colleague was busy at the time. I ended up walking away with half of my hair still wet. The appointment process was easy, and I was able to see Penny the day after with no wait times. Ok i had a great experience and haircut with Tony. He gave me a nice style and useful tips. I came back, but this time it was a lady. Total disaster. She doesn't style, according to her, so I guess she's just an expensive pair of hands to use a buzzer. If that's what you want, buy a machine and do it yourself same results. If you see her walk out. Just walk out. Come back when one of the two Italian owners is free. Very disappointed by my second visit. I will think twice about going the next time. I feel bad writing this, because Angela was nice, but she butchered my hair. I asked for a subtle balyage (natural blonde feel) on my light brown hair. She didn't seem to understand that a balyage could be painted from the root - she said balyage is only the bottom half of your hair. I should have walked away then. But she talked me into getting highlights with foils. Y'all, she used bleach. And took so long to foil my head that the back section was too processed and she had to wash the back of my head out while the rest of my head processed. I was horrified but kept my cool. The grand reveal was a yellow brassy head of hair with no dimension. And two pieces near my temples were WHITE (with a half-inch brown root). While I did pay and tip, I went directly to a CVS and got an ashy medium brown to paint in my own low-lights and paint over the bigger mistakes. I couldn't go to work looking that bad the next day! That helped. And I'll get a toner to cool it down too. But damn, do not get highlights here. The only other customers were men, so I honestly think it's just a barber shop. read more

Let me just say at first I was not excepting much because every time I find "random" hair salons, the results are horrible. I was so happy when they said they can take me in (45 minutes before their closing time). This place is a gem! I had been procrastinating a haircut for a long time and was undecided about where to go get a cut. I happened to be walking past this salon and the sign with 26$ for wash and cut seemed like a good deal! It was Sunday evening and the salon was empty so I didn't have to wait at all! I'm glad I took an impulsive decision. Penny was great, she took her time to understand what I had in mind and helped me figure out what would look good. What I especially liked is that she would ask and cross check with me at every point about the length and the style. I really liked that because I have been in far too many situations where the conversation at beginning is one thing and at the end of the cut, it's a different thing! Penny really set me up for success this past weekend. Had a horrible experience at a different barber shop which left me maimed and wearing hats up until I walked into this deceivingly large salon. A bit of a wait but two hairdressers were unavailable leaving them a bit tied up. Penny fixed every problem the last barber created, up to the uneven hairline I had going on in the back. She also reset my hair to fall to its natural side again. She made me feel valued without eating too much time up.
