Small, personable, Maui. Does it get any better than this?
    Roger I.

Rural, away from the crowds, nice sandy private beach. Cons: no crowds, too inexpensive, too close to the soft ocean surff, warm Pacific breezes, sandy beach, crystal-clear pool with two stationary turtles. Pros: None that I can see at this time. It is night, however. And I have been drinking a few mai tais on the veranda, here. So I can't see much.

The snorkeling here was phenomenal and was better than the paid snorkeling I did in Miami where they took us out to a spot on a boat. I saw sea turtles everyday and had several of them swim right up next to me while I snorkeled. The beach is super clean and the waves aren't too strong. I rented a unit on the second floor that was updated and gorgeous. It also had a/c though I didn't use it because I liked the natural breeze and sound of the ocean. The downstairs units are one bedrooms while the upstairs ones are two bedrooms on two floors. I would definitely come back here again. It's walking distance to small markets, restaurants and a park. It is also not too far from a food truck park. You'll see beautiful sunsets from this condo. The bad: There's no elevator so I'm not sure about the handicap accessibility. The entrance to the condo complex is small and can be missed easily. The beach area is slanted upward so it's hard to picnic or lay things flat. The beach area is also small so there isn't a lot of space to lay out a large picnic blanket. The interesting: Most other units are older and not updated but ours was very updated so your experience may differ depending on which unit you're renting.

The free valet was fantastic, and the room was spacious, clean, and had a gorgeous ocean view. We had an issue with our mattress and it was never comfortable. That was the big bummer of the stay. They replaced our mattress after we said something but it didn't fix the issue. When we laid down, we always felt like where laying way back like toward the headboard, feet higher than our head. It may have been a bed frame issue. It wasn't the worst, we just ended sleeping the other way. You have to call housekeeping to get service. That was super easy and they did a great job. All staff on site were wonderful. The grounds were well-kept, and we loved spending time by the pool--there were a few different pools, each with its own unique feel. Surprisingly, we went down the slide several times (haha it's not just for kids). Duke's on the property was a big plus. They had servers taking orders pool side. The food trucks nearby were fantastic, dealing distance away, and so much variety. they're open u til 8pm. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back.

The parking lots are very dark so just watch where you walk, especially when walking down the stairs. The decor of the rooms are a bit old-fashioned, the palm tree/tropical couches to the wicker-like wooden seats, but it all fits into the theme when you're on the island of Hawaii. Best of all, the beach is literally about 10 steps away, making it easy to relax and watch the honu (sea turtles) during sunset, such a special experience. The unit came well equipped with a king-size bed, a full kitchen, microwave, a fridge, and all the basics you'd need for a comfortable stay. We were also given two keys, which made it convenient to access the pool and hot tub. Our lanai had an amazing ocean view and became our favorite spot to enjoy meals and unwind. I've honestly never stayed anywhere that felt so peaceful and relaxing. While the property may look a bit dated, that's part of its Maui charm. We booked the room through Airbnb, but it's also available directly through My Perfect Stays. My only wish is that checkout were a bit later, 11am instead of 10am, since we had a red-eye flight home and a lot of time to fill on our last day. Still, an amazing stay overall that I'd happily return to.

We hoped the dishwasher got warm to clean the dishes. We alerted Myperfectstays the next day of the issues. They said they would have someone come by and keep us updated. Nobody came by and no response received. Stained towels and cleaning wasn't great. We had friends staying in unit #107 and their dryer didn't work so they came and used ours. We've stayed many times in other resorts up and down the West side of Maui that were impeccably nice. We have stayed with this management company in the past with no problem. I spoke with the onsite management regarding the water issue is how I found out of the one hot water tank. She said she'd have Greg come by and check to see if it were a power surge? Amber should get all the props for everything about this place. Let's also talk about the pool. The pool was great honestly but there is no security to help with only having it be resort guests only. They had two different pool locations. A good size. The views of the ocean was so beautiful and the weather was just perfection. Never got never cold. We had a queen size bed and pull out couch also the size of a queen. A dining table, full size refrigerator, sink, cooking appliance, and dinner ware. The restroom was nice. It had the shower and tub in one room and the other part of the restroom had a normal sized mirrored closet, in addition to the drawers for our clothes in the main room. I wish they had an ice machine but they had ice cube trays in the freezer. WIFI WAS GREAT. The TV aid a bit old school lol. We didn't need to reach out to the workers often but if needed we could just text them which was fantastic. Plenty of parking and I loved that this was not super crowded when we went to the pool. When we inquired about our room and if it was correct, we were told it was and that some owners of the condos renovate the condos and they may not match the online postings exactly. We were very displeased with this and this is clearly false advertising. If I wanted a studio, I would have booked and paid for a studio. As a family, we had no privacy because of this and made the sleeping situation undesirable. We could also hear the people above us every night. At around 3am they would be up stomping around and you could hear everything. The rooms are supposed to be updated but I would not consider our room updated. There was no housekeeping. I had to call and request it but our room was only serviced once. Luckily we weren't charged, unlike other reviews I have seen. The larger pool was fine; definitely not resort style. But it could use some maintenance each day because the pool seemed dirty and not cleaned from the various people frequenting it each day. I would have given this place a one star but I gave it two stars due to: 1) the front desk staff we interacted with was very kind and helpful; truly so nice. 2) our kids enjoyed the morning hot cocoa 3) the location to the beach is nice and the beach was enjoyable 4) the walking path and proximity to local spots and hotels was convenient. The added hot tub since we were last there is an amazing amenity, but I would not call this complex family-friendly, ruined by two permanent residents. One man lives in a bottom unit, somewhere in the 120s, and he was the biggest jerk I have ever encountered in my life. My family had a 14 hour travel day with a 3 hour time difference. We got the kids (12, 9 and 5 years old) to bed at about 10:00 PM, but due to the time change, our youngest was up at 3:00 AM. We kept quiet until 7:00 AM, and then got up and had some breakfast. Our kids were so eager and excited to swim in the pool, but we made them wait until 8:00 until the pool opened. After 45 minutes of swimming, the aforementioned man came up to me and my husband and asked us to "keep it down". I smiled and said "I know they're a bit loud, but they are in a pool...they're so excited to be here and swim." He then told me "then maybe you should take them out". I explained to him that we had a 14 hour travel day the day before and they've been up since 3 in the morning, and they just needed to burn some energy off. I was so upset I went over to the pool, closer to my kids, then he kept complaining to my husband, who'd also had enough and told the man off. We were so flustered that we removed our exuberant 5 year old out of the pool (which I regret doing) because he was being "too loud". We understand that kids can be loud, be we do our best to not let them be out of control and over the top. THEY ARE KIDS! They literally haven't swam more than once in the last 2 years of the pandemic, all they could have done was swim in that pool in our 10 days spent on Maui and they would have been the happiest kids in the world. Luckily that man didn't come up to us at the pool for the rest of our trip, though I always felt on edge if he was outside and the kids were in the pool. He did feel the need to tell our 12 year old to not pass a soccer ball with his new friends because it was "ruining his supper" Another permanent resident "tattle taled" on my 13.5 year old nephew to management because he was swimming alone/unsupervised. The rule is under 13 must be supervised, but this lady needs to mind her business, he was quietly swimming and not disturbing anyone. The same lady asked my 9 year old and 7 year old niece if they had a parent with them at the pool, and they pointed at my husband in a chair. GET A LIFE!! These residents need to be reminded that there are families at this complex, or it needs to be marketed as an adult-only complex if these two grumpy residents feel the need to target and bully kids and young families while they are paying a lot of money to stay there. We were even told by the manager our kids couldn't quietly play Marco Polo in the pool, there's literally a sign that says so. Good grief. As for our unit, #211, there is no privacy whatsoever--only 1 bedroom, a very open loft and the 3rd 'bed' is a pullout in the common area--be very mindful of your unit layout while booking. It was fine for our family, but I wouldn't want to share with friends or other family. The toilets need to be replaced, the TV upstairs didn't work, and the hot water lasted 3-5 minutes tops and our bathroom ceiling fan was coated in dust. The furniture needs to be replaced, the king bed upstairs is extremely uncomfortable and the sheets/mattress cover are extremely loud with any little movement. You have to buy your own toiletries if you run out too. There were no oven mitts and barely the bare bones of utensils and essentials needed to cook and serve meals On a positive note, keyless and contactless check in was amazing and seamless. It was really nice that through the laundry room by the clothesline there was boogie boards, beach toys and even some snorkel gear for the kids to borrow/use. I have nothing bad to say about Bree (no actual interactions but have heard nothing but good things), and the property manager was a bit curt about the rules, but professional and a nice guy once you got talking to. The pool, hot tub, and views are absolutely amazing. No beach though, all lava rock. Whenever it is we get back to the island, I'm not sure I'd want to stay here again because of the two residents that made parts of our trip miserable.
