Just ok. Sushi was good and cocktails were good but everything appeared overdone. My chicken dish did not come with rice. I thought it interesting when I heard another guest ask the server if rice was served with his meal as well. It felt like great effort was put forward to curate a special and unique dining experience but it felt very light in its offerings. And the prices were a bit out there too. $400 for the dishes/drinks pictured... tip not included.

When in Hawaii, the first thing that comes to my mind is the fresh seafood. The second, the island flavors. I was extremely excited to try out Noio after hearing it's the newest restaurant to open at the Four Seasons in Hualalai. For those who are searching for Noio, it's located in the same building as 'Ulu, but upstairs. It's a hidden location that can easily be missed. While my experience and sushi were both aesthetic, I felt the food was overhyped and the menu limited. I ordered a variety of nigiri pieces, including Salmon as a baseline for comparison to the mainland. All the pieces of fish were dense, including the pieces of fish that were considered more fatty. Also, how insane that each piece ran $10-12?? I also ordered The Negi Toro Roll, a fatty bluefin tuna tartare, for $38, but once again, how could a fatty fish run so tough?? For one drink ($30), 6 pieces of nigiri, and one roll, my total ran for $162 (including tip). If you're looking to try amazing seafood and better sushi, stay downstairs at 'Ulu for dinner.

Six of us tried several different dishes and no one was disappointed. The Pupu Platter started the meal and it gave us a taste of the ribs, crab cakes and vegetable rolls. The sauces matched perfectly and it was a great start. We enjoyed the House Caesar Salad with grilled Shrimp, the Mushroom Risotto, Steak and Mushroom, and a Surf and Turf. Every Dish was seasoned well and cooked as hoped. The drinks were well made also. From the Hawaiian Honey Bee to the Mai Tai they were delish without any skimping on the quality of the liquor. Past visits felt old dark and the food was below average. I also thought past menus had way too much stuff to select from. My opinion on that is no one can be excellent at everything on a menu made of three pages long. The menu now is much smaller with less than a handful of mains and pupus. Seasonal as well... After our delicious cocktails we started with the pupu platter which might sound like a lot but it really was perfect. More like a tasting plate with all four pupu offerings on the menu. Excellent tasting!!! Personally, I could make that a meal. My main was one of the two specials the pork chop with mixed veggies and potato mash. It was very good and plated beautifully. As you can see I did give it a four star because I alway feel like there is always room for improvement and I very rarely give a five. Unless this place changes ownership again I think Jackie Rey's is headed for greater days with the current ownership. This girls opinion...

I'm in Hawaii about twice a year, and this spot is always locked in. The sunsets here are unreal. Depending on the time of year and when your reservation is, you can catch some of the best sunsets in all of Hawaii right from your table. It's one of those places where the view alone makes the night. Food is consistently great. The pizzas are always a safe bet, the chicken parmigiana is a must, and honestly any of the pastas don't miss. Everything is just solid across the board. Drinks are on point, cocktails are strong in a good way, well made, and they've got a great wine list plus plenty of beer options. Service is exactly what you'd expect from Four Seasons, top tier, attentive, and smooth without being over the top. Also a great spot if you're vegetarian or dining with someone who is. They actually have real options, not just afterthoughts. They'll occasionally have a show with fire dancers which adds to the experience. Great food, great service, great drinks, and one of the best views you'll get anywhere. Easily my favorite restaurant in Hawaii and it's not even close. Parking: Visitor Parking is free!

Personalized service, the kind that the best resorts offer, like "how did she know I would want that?" The outstanding service continued from the time we arrived until the last minute before we left. 5 different orders, some of which I already can't remember. One lady loves gazpacho and she raved about this one. My fish tacos were loaded with chunks of spearfish and included all locally sourced greens. Two very large tacos in an order; apparently you can order one and combine with something else on the menu. 5 different desserts, all housemade, three of which are beyond memorable. 1) the Key Lime Pie is actually a monster slice of a Key Lime ICE CREAM pie. The Key Lime ice cream was perfectly copied from a key lime pie. 2) Pineapple Sorbet. More like frozen whipped pineapple than the puréed consistency you'd expect. Loaded with fresh pineapple! Very large serving! 3) Mud Pie, for the friend who orders Mud Pie whenever it's on the menu. She was blown away by the size of the slice and by the quality of every aspect of it. Note: the restaurant is quite a walk from parking. Valets will run you down and back up in a golf cart if you ask. We needed the exercise!

I made a reservation for my friend birthday, we were not staying at the resort. The staff at the Four Seasons were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. We were given a ride to the restaurant in a golf cart, which was fun in itself. It was already dark when we arrived and may have been a bit difficult to find otherwise. The patio restaurant was beautiful, strings of lights, but with the ocean there, no other decor was needed. Our server was lovely and helpful, the right mix of friendly with giving space. They had a very nicely curated wine list, maybe the best I saw during my time in the island. The menu is focused, I think when this is done in the right way, the food is better for it. After debating, we shared the scallop appetizer and the fish. The scallops were very good, though I did not like one of the flavors of the sauce, though appreciated it was interesting and different. The fish was fantastic, creative and interesting flavors. It was entirely a wonderful experience. I recommend if you are celebrating a special occasion.

This place is close to the airport and very easy to find. Our guide Carlos was awesome - very knowledgeable and funny. We learned a lot in the one hour tour. We also got to sample seaweed, sea grapes and abalone at the end of the tour. We went to the food truck afterwards. Service was quick and the staff were really nice. We ordered 1/4 lb of the garlic butter abalone and 1/4 lb of the chilli garlic abalone. Both were great. Sounds expensive but I will say that we had abalone in a similar proportion in Monterey and paid more than double what we did at Big Island Abalone. We already have plans to stop at the food truck again on our way through Kona later this well. Well worth visiting. A must if you love abalone.

And if you don't have kids, go anyways! I learned a lot. Best part, there's a food truck on the premises to try the abalone + other stuff. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but YOU WILL NEVER HAVE SUCH TENDER ABALONE ANYWHERE ELSE!!! You need to stop by and try something off their menu. Garlic butter was our favorite, but my husband really liked the chili oil. The only thing I wished they offered - a summer camp for kids. I feel with such unique operations (go on the tour and learn about it), it's a great way to learn about sustainability, ecosystems, and more. Maybe someone will read my post and think about it. I'm sure parents would love to have their kids immersed in such a wonderful environment. Props to: Carlos. Thank you so much for our tour. My 10 year old loves marine animals & absolutely loved the tour. She can't wait to share with her teacher and classmates what she learned.
