Arguably the best sushi I have ever had. I've been to many good sushi places such as Asanebo in LA, KRU in Sacramento, and Nobu several times in various locations and Noio holds its own amongst places like that. Fantastic service and ambiance as well. We sat outside for the sunset while eating our dinner and it was an incredible experience.

Just ok. Sushi was good and cocktails were good but everything appeared overdone. My chicken dish did not come with rice. I thought it interesting when I heard another guest ask the server if rice was served with his meal as well. It felt like great effort was put forward to curate a special and unique dining experience but it felt very light in its offerings. And the prices were a bit out there too. $400 for the dishes/drinks pictured... tip not included.

When in Hawaii, the first thing that comes to my mind is the fresh seafood. The second, the island flavors. I was extremely excited to try out Noio after hearing it's the newest restaurant to open at the Four Seasons in Hualalai. For those who are searching for Noio, it's located in the same building as 'Ulu, but upstairs. It's a hidden location that can easily be missed. While my experience and sushi were both aesthetic, I felt the food was overhyped and the menu limited. I ordered a variety of nigiri pieces, including Salmon as a baseline for comparison to the mainland. All the pieces of fish were dense, including the pieces of fish that were considered more fatty. Also, how insane that each piece ran $10-12?? I also ordered The Negi Toro Roll, a fatty bluefin tuna tartare, for $38, but once again, how could a fatty fish run so tough?? For one drink ($30), 6 pieces of nigiri, and one roll, my total ran for $162 (including tip). If you're looking to try amazing seafood and better sushi, stay downstairs at 'Ulu for dinner.

The ambiance is near perfection as it faces west for perfect sunsets. The service was exceptional and very helpful. We loved Angie our waitress, who took great care of us and our amazing experience. The fresh seafood and sushi here are the highest quality we ever tasted. The New York steak was cooked to perfection and it was a high quality prime cut. The ahi tuna steak was seared perfectly and seasoned very well. We loved their innovative and unique desserts. The lava crunch cake was mouthy watering and a dream for any chocolate lover. This was one of the best restaurants we ever tried. The restaurant is a must try. 'Ulu is a top 3 restaurant of all time.

We tried the crispy chicken, crab fried rice, crab noodles, and the chocolate soufflé. The chicken app wasn't anything spectacular, noodles were perfectly chewy and generous with the crab, and fried rice was great. The soufflé was the highlight! We went with chocolate but they have a seasonal rotating fruit flavor as well. This takes 25 minutes to make so recommend ordering it early if you know you want to try it. For $$$$ the food is okay, you're absolutely paying for the scenery and service.

We had leftovers that were great the next day for lunch as well. This is a popular place so be prepared. We ate inside not having a reservation but I'd suggest calling for a reservation outside. Also keep in mind that rents are high in Kona, it's a challenge to find people that can afford it and work in our restaurants, so be kind to them. Parking is also a challenge but patience and determination will get you there. Currently if you are a Costco member you can purchase gift cards for $80 that will get you $100 at the restaurant, so effectively a 20% discount. Those discount cards seem to rotate in and out at Costco so that will probably change. We've gotten two takeout dinners since then and it's a definite favorite of ours. Mahalo.

We also had the Matcha Shiratama Zenzai for dessert. It was awesome. Great combination of flavours. Everything is reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend it. There isn't a whole lot of seating inside, but we came early so there wasn't any difficulty getting a table. There are fans inside but no A/C, so it wasn't remarkably cooler inside than it was outside but still much nicer than being out in the sun. The waitress gave us a menu and also showed us some specials that were written on a whiteboard in the store. I thought the prices were incredibly fair and would have ordered more food if I was hungrier, but I ended up getting their special rice bowl and my husband ordered a tempura udon. The service was fairly quick and we got some ice water at the dispenser at the front of the store, which was very refreshing. The tempura udon my husband had very flavorful broth and the shrimp tempura was nice and juicy inside. My rice bowl was very substantial and was quick to fill me up. The fish was incredibly fresh, the rice nice and fluffy, and the green onions and seaweed salad were refreshing. The wasabi added a good kick and the ginger was a wonderful palate cleanser in between bites. I had such a lovely time here and the entire kitchen staff bid us goodbye when we left. I would love to come back another time when I have the chance!

The server is friendly and their instagram page is actually very active. It's cool to see their fresh catches that are probably in the sushi you're eating right now. The inside is nothing to write home about, it's perfectly acceptable, and they have multiple high chairs for kids. This place was almost empty when we walked in around 6:30, by the time we finished and left it was full inside, so expect service to slow down around there as there was only one server.
