The mushrooms needed more seasoning. They were out of cornbread at 2pm. The restaurant needs more ventilation because something was going on and anyone who walked in the door was coughing and had to go outside. Hopefully, not a common issue. We visited this location on a Saturday afternoon to grab some food as it had advertise some yummy looking Poboy and other Creole dishes. I will say that going into this I know it would be a hard sale as my grandmother is from that region, and I grew up eating gumbo, Poboy and red beans and rice. I also travel to New Orleans every few years so I am keen on the flavor profiles. On this occasion, we got the bourbon beef Poboy and a side of the Royal gumbo, which does not have crawfish in it. Overall, the experience was modest at best. I did eat my po boy which had a very good bread and also the bourbon beef itself was OK. I did not enjoy the gumbo at all. The flavors did not feel right to me, but maybe somebody else would enjoy this. I would give this restaurant a 3.5 out of five stars, I will say that the options were very affordable and the restaurant was clean. We spend $100 on food and I honestly felt like none of the food had any flavor at all. The chicken tenders for the kids was the best part of the whole meal. So I've never been to New Orleans but the food here is what I imagine it is like. I've had some Cajun food from other restaurants before but honestly did not even compare to the food here. The Seafood Etouffee had a good amount of shrimp and crawfish tails and was perfectly spiced, had a little kick without being overwhelming. Husband had the Andouille Sausage Po Boy and even though it was huge he demolished it. Food was so good, the decor matches the NoLa vibes, and they have a TV playing New Orleans Jazz. NolaRoux is a spot that I almost missed while driving by. The restaurant is next to a gas station and surrounded by other buildings like it. The inside is fairly small, but it gives the vibes of a casual dining place where you can sit down and chat with some friends or take your food to go eat at home. They play what sounds like jazz music on the TV, the staff are friendly to the customers, and they sell merch inside. For the food, I ordered the full size bourbon street beef po' boy. It took around 15 minutes for the food to be ready after I ordered, and then I took it home to eat. The sandwich was very tasty. The beef was tender and juicy, and the vegetables and mayo complimented the beef very well. The bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, which was a nice contrast to the fillings. I was also full afterwards and happy that I tried this place out. It felt a little expensive paying $16 for the sandwich, but I would recommend this place. I'm not sure how authentic the place is, but the food was good. 4 out of 5 stars! read more

I love love love NolaRoux and have been coming in since not long after they opened. They did make the kickin chicken significantly spicier than before and my husband still orders it most of the time when we come. I went for the Michigan Muffuletta Po' Boy sandwich this time. Wait time was about 10 minutes and we ended up running to the car wash and coming back for our food. When we got home we got to eat our delicious sandwiches. We both got bottled drinks too and they were also really really tasty. Anyone that likes Cajun food, I'd highly recommend this place. Everything I've ever had on their menu has been delicious and the staff is super awesome. They are polite and quick. The prices aren't cheap, but a sandwich for $9-10 isn't so bad especially since they are sooooooo good. We will definitely be back soon. read more

The Fried Shrimp Po Boy was very good great flavors and textures on a quality bread. Portion size of the Ultimate Boil was good but the flavor could be pumped up a bit. It was Cajun Lite, no strong notes of flavor. Cornbread was on the sweet side, not typical southern style. However they list it as that on the menu. The parking lot is hard to access at lunch is the biggest downfall. When you enter this restaurant. You are greeted with a warm welcome and explanation of any of the food. They do have gluten-free options and some vegetarian options. They also offer real Cajun sides such as red beans and rice and etouffee. If you want a good Cajun Louisiana type restaurant this is the place to go. The voodoo chicken is one of the recommended dishes. They also have friendly dishes for those that do not have an iron gut. The interior of the restaurant is pretty nice has some pretty Louisiana type Cajun feel. As far as drinks they are all bottled they do not offer any fountain soda. They do have disposable silverware and take out. You can also order online which is nice if you need to pick your meal up and go. This place definitely hits the spot. I'm obsessed with Boiling Crab style crawfish places and this was the closest alternative in our area. I ordered the Shrimp Boil on a Saturday and an employee, covid mask on, brought it right out to the car. The flavor was excellent--buttery, garlicky, and spicy! I wish I had choices available to me for spice levels but beggars can't be choosers. I also ordered a side of their cornbread (soooooo delicious) and a side of the andouille sausage (a bit overcooked). I think the only disappointment from my meal was the corn on the cob that was in the boil. Tasted like frozen since it didn't have that crunch and nice sweetness to it.
