I have seen DMV lines move with more urgency than the host stand at Azul. We called ahead and were assured there was no wait. Foolishly, we believed them. We arrived full of hope, only to be told it would be "10-15 minutes." A minor inconvenience, we thought. Thirty minutes later, we had apparently become permanent fixtures in the lobby. We watched party after party arrive after us, only to be whisked away to tables as if they possessed some secret VIP status or had discovered an invisible entrance to the restaurant. Meanwhile, we stood there questioning our own existence. When we finally asked what was happening, we received the same magical prophecy we'd heard before: "10-15 more minutes." Time, it seems, has no meaning at Azul. Their 10-15 minutes exists in an alternate dimension where clocks are merely decorative. Not once did anyone apologize. Not once did anyone explain why we had been skipped. We were simply expected to continue standing there like unpaid extras in a restaurant-themed episode of The Twilight Zone. By the time we left, I wasn't even hungry anymore--I was just impressed by the commitment to chaos. If the goal was to create the least organized seating system in southwest Michigan, congratulations. Mission accomplished. Do yourself a favor: if they tell you "10-15 minutes," pack a sleeping bag, file a change of address, and prepare to watch everyone else get seated first. read more

The food was good, but I was pretty disappointed with the amount of salsa we got. My friends and I ordered chips, and they barely gave us enough salsa to finish a small portion of them. We ended up with a bunch of plain chips left over, which was frustrating. It would've been nice if they either gave a larger portion to start or were more generous with refills. Hopefully they improve this because it definitely took away from the experience. read more

I call to dispute it and he said we can give you cash back for the difference. I'm traveling through the city. I can't just run back up there. Honestly everything needs improvement. Wait wasn't bad. Drink was not strong and made weak. Fajita. Taco salad is a real an embarrassment. I had to ask the waiter for an extra plate because of how much grease it had not enough chicken waiter proceeded to Claim that it wasn't grease as I'm pouring it on the other plate. Tortilla was soaked in grease that I could even pick it up. Waiter ask me 3 times what kind of meat do I want as I'm telling him the 3 times chicken. This place is fantastic for birthdays! I threw a small surprise birthday party for a friend here and everyone loved it! I had the vegetable fajitas and it is A LOT of food and is delicious! The birthday girl who is Mexican also gave her stamp of approval. The decor is really fun and I love how they go all out for birthdays. One thing to note, is the individual who has a birthday will receive a free dessert (or shot if 21 or older, but you can still ask for the dessert instead which is what we did). The staff brought the dessert out with a sparkling candle while serenading our friend and placing a sombrero on her head. Then she got some whipped cream in the face (just fyi they do this to for every birthday). They also have a great photo booth area. They're also vegan and vegetarian friendly. Even if something isn't on the vegetarian menu you can easily customize items. But the vegetarian menu has a lot of options already. read more

This place is huge and very fun decor and layout. They even have a goofy photo shoot setup. We went for lunch and was fairly slow customers but the food came out super fast! Service was great and we made many amigos! Salsa is extremely tasty, guacamole is just ok, but our dishes were made perfectly. I got the nachos al carbon and all the meat was delicious but the best was the shrimp: ohh so good, some of the best nachos I've had in awhile. Azul Tequila is one of many wonderful mexican restaurants in the area.  I was extremely excited to introduce this place to my husband. He loved the ambiance and the smell of delicious food wafting through the restaurant. After we got our water and asked for a moment to look at the menu it took a long time for him to come back, but no biggie. I decided to go with the burrito grande ($11.99) while my husband went with the burrito al carbon ($11.99). After ordering they brought out complementary chips and salsa. My husband had never been here before and completely devoured his food. I never saw him eat refried beans or mexican rice but he at it ALL. He also finished his burrito. He said he usually doesn't like steak but "this burrito is fire". I very much loved my burrito and am excited to have left overs tomorrow. The only downside waa my burrito was partly stuck to my plate so it doesnt look very pretty in the box but does that really matter? Not really. Excellent Mexican Restaurant. This Mexican restaurant is very popular. They have really good Margaritas and exceptional quality food at fair prices. We have been eating at the Azul at least once every week for the last 4 and a half years. I've never gotten a bad meal. The wait staff are very good. They are fast and cater to your needs. Rounding down from 4.5 stars. Azul Tequila always delivers on the food you want and expect. It's your typical Mexican restaurant in Michigan, large menu with classics. You know you will get chips and salsa when you sit down and the good portions are big. Plus the service is quick, we ordered our food and it couldn't have been more than 5 minutes later and our food was placed in front of us. We were 17 people as we were visiting town and got the table relatively easily. The server was very cooperative which is rare when you have a huge group of people with equal amounts of kids and adults. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. It's just not that great. I had the Chicken Fajitas and I could have made better ones at home. (and I'm not the best cook ;)) The chicken was chewy and it didn't look appetizing.
