The second French 75, which was in a dirty glass .
    Chrishante R.

We went there on Thursday night, the vibes of the restaurant were great! Our server Nicholas was horrible ! We arrived at exactly 8:01pm, we were seated by a woman immediately. The Dj vibe was amazing, even the snow crabs were boiled to perfection! Actually, the best snow crabs, taste just like they were from Cajuns, and they give you a garlic butter sauce incase you want to dip them. As far as the service, when he came over to refill my friend's water, the pitcher has more ice than water. The glass didn't get refilled half way before he ran out of water. We ordered at 8:09pm and didn't get out appetizer (crab nachos) until 8:35pm, And the crabs came out at 8:41pm. My boyfriend asked to change his crabs to a ribeye steak, and loaded bake potato at 8:16pm and was told he couldn't because the food was coming out, but I didn't understand that if the snow crabs was unlimited I already had plans on eating atleast two rounds of snow crabs . We paid for two rounds of unlimited, and only got one round, he didn't come back around to see if we wanted atleast another round, so that was a waste of money. 9:28pm he came back and asked us did we want more crabs, being that the Dj was saying it was time to go, and the restaurant closed at 9:30 that made absolutely no sense. We waited an additional 14 minutes for the bill, as well as the two ladies next to us with the salads, they had to go up to him to get him to cash their bill out because they got tired of waiting as well. Service 0/10 . I ordered the French 75, he said he had to take my glass because the restaurant didn't have glasses (restaurant was also empty, and not many people drinking) when the glass was bought back to me, it was filthy dirty, the glass didn't even get washed. This is honestly the worst customer service ever . A waste of money, and I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here if it's based off service ! Dj amazing, snow crabs were boiled with just enough season, drinks were even ok (minus the dirty glass) . Nicholas was the worst server, and provided the worst experience ever. My boyfriend normally doesn't complain, and he complained about how horrible the service was.

Decided to try out the ladies night with some coworkers Thursday. When we walked in we noticed a lot of pink lights as well as vases filled with water, flowers, and a lit candle. The Dj was pretty good, going from old school to new school, playing something for everyone. There were some hits and misses with the food. Crawfish bread was salty, mashed potatoes were dry, onion rings were more like onion strings (pic online looked different), and overcooked steak on the steak and cebollita salad. Hits included the Pineapple Express drink, the blueberry sangria, cosmopolitan, beignets, the Brussel sprouts, chicken breast, huge baked potatoes, and oyster and bacon bar bite. The drinks were nice sizes to say they were only $3, but the bar bites for $10 were on pretty small plates (my hand was bigger than the plate). The pasta from the regular menu was okay. It was a huge portion (enough for 2) but lacked seasoning. If they would have sprinkled a little Tony Seasoning it would've been pretty good. Our server was good and made sure to check on us frequently to see what we needed. Unlimited crab legs were advertised, but not listed on the menu. The manager was also nice as she kept checking to make sure everything was okay and to ask if we were enjoying ourselves. She even noticed when my friend didn't touch a drink she ordered (she didn't like it) and offered to switch it out for something else which was really nice. I asked the manager about the crab legs and she said they aren't listed on the menu because they don't always have them. I believe it's only on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and that's when they are able to get them (sometimes their order doesn't come in). So if you are going solely for crab legs I'd call first. I think the unlimited is $50. We were also able to enter the raffle for a Marc Jacobs tote bag. You received a raffle ticket for each item you ordered. Overall experience for ladies night was a 4/5, but the food and drinks were a 3/5 which is why my rating for the restaurant was a 3. I'd definitely go back for another ladies night and possibly try their brunch buffet.

This a hidden gem. First off ,the place was really cute . Nice little picture wall right outside before the entering . We went on a Sunday it was my birthday and my niece suggested this place. It did not disappoint. Hardly anyone was in there and our waitress was very attentive. We were a party of 10, I food did not take long. We had several dishes chicken and waffles, which was just ok the waffle was supposed to have added bacon but it didn't. The bronze gulf redfish was delicious, the trinity rib tips were a little salty but not bad ,also the Salmon was very good. The bbq shrimps and grits were a little spicy but delicious. The beef short rib hash delicious. Since it was my birthday I received a desert. I got the Beignets omg!! They were soo good. We were told they have a band on Fridays so we will definitely be back to enjoy that experience! Nothing like good food and good music.!!

Sadly we were very disappointed with this restaurant. Our server Deontae seemed a little preoccupied or maybe he wasn't that interested in giving great service. The all you can eat crabs were over cooked, you couldn't get them to pop and some of them were still cold. My brussel sprouts were under cooked and the cast iron skillet that they were prepared in had rusted, which was in the sauce. After informing our server he came back and said yeah that because that's cast iron, duh we can see that but it's in my food!! No real resolution was offered until we asked to speak to a manager. He offered to take the crabs and sprouts off , which was appreciated. Thank you Mr. Edwards. We probably won't return. The interior looks like an old office space they may be repurposed, it feels like a hospital lobby.

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

From the start, the service was on point. Our server Tony was friendly, prompt, and attentive without hovering. A nice touch right out of the gate was a complimentary birthday meatball, which set the tone for the night. We started with the turtle soup and the crab cake. The turtle soup was lighter than expected in a good way. Tomato based, almost reminiscent of a minestrone in flavor, with a noticeable but not overpowering spice kick. The chopped egg added a classic touch and worked well. Nothing off putting about it at all. The crab cake was massive and came out on a hot plate. Fork tender, buttery, flaky, with a subtle sweetness. Heavy on crab, very light on filler, exactly how it should be. For mains, we ordered the veal Alyssa and the signature New York strip. The veal Alyssa is huge, easily enough for two people. They were not shy with the crab meat, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the bolognese had big, hearty chunks of meat. The veal itself was thinly sliced, tender, not gamey at all, with a crispy exterior and solid flavor in the breading. The New York strip was cooked a perfect medium rare with a nice peppered crust. Flavor was spot on. Tender, not overly fatty like you might expect from a ribeye, and a good portion, roughly 12 ounces or so. Straightforward, well executed steak. Dessert was the crème brûlée and New York cheesecake. The crème brûlée was not traditional. No hard cracked caramelized sugar shell. More of an eggy custard than a classic brûlée, but still very good and not overly sweet. The New York cheesecake was thick, creamy, and classic. Served with strawberries and cream, though you can also get it plain or with blueberry or caramel. Overall, it was a really good experience. On a busy Saturday night, the place had a full on vibe. It felt like something out of Goodfellas or The Sopranos. Old school, lively, and confident in what it is. There's something special about Mr. John's, and it absolutely delivered for a celebration.

Managing a group of this size--split between two rooms of 30 and 60--is no small feat, but the staff and service were fast, efficient, and professional from start to finish. The Turtle Soup was a major talking point for our guests. For many, it was a first-time experience. I personally preferred the deep, savory profile of the soup on its own, but the traditional tableside sherry pour added a unique complexity that made it a must-try for anyone visiting. For the main course, the U.S.D.A. Prime 16 oz Rib-Eye was the star. Serving a large group and getting the temperature right is usually where big events stumble, but these were cooked to a perfect medium-rare across the board. The char and seasoning were phenomenal--there wasn't a single complaint from the table, which says a lot for a group with varied steak preferences. We finished with the Crème Brûlée, which arrived perfectly chilled with that signature, glass-like caramelized sugar crust. Beyond the food, the service was the highlight. The wine was flowing, and the staff did an incredible job managing individualized drink orders for 90 guests without missing a beat. The atmosphere was conversational, loud, and full of laughter--the ideal environment for high-level networking. We were looking for a nice restaurant away from the bar scene of downtown New Orleans. Looking in the window and perusing the menu, we saw a nice steakhouse at nice steakhouse prices. We went in and the hostess was able to seat us right away....but she walked us into the bar area to a high-top table by a window with a view of a TV. This was not the ambience we were looking for and despite being in blue jeans, we could afford anything and everything on the menu. So we asked the server for an actual table in the dining room and she pleasantly agreed to ask for us. The hostess, with as much attitude as she could dish out without actually calling us names, came up and said, "oh, you want a table?" She snatched the menus off the bar table and walked toward the dining room without saying another word. She sat us at an acceptable table and walked away, still oozing attitude. Luckily, Colin approached and quickly spun it around to an absolutely pleasant dining experience. The filet mignon was absolutely delectable! We also had a side of potatoes au gratin, which were pretty good as well. Colin's service was top-notch.

Now I'm sure the hostess is accustom to people bringing in their pets and lying that they're service dogs, so she told me that we had to sit outside. That's obviously illegal, we got the manager involved, the manager quickly understood that we weren't bringing a pet and got us sat inside. We ordered drinks, they took a long time to come out. I asked the grade of the Wagyu on the Manhattan steak, and the server told me it was "6 or 12 or something" Wagyu obviously comes A1-A5, so I asked him to go check. He came back and said it was A5. Not knowing Wagyu grades, and the drinks taking a while was the only place the service was lacking, he was otherwise delightful. $70 bucks seemed kind inexpensive for an A5, but I had never actually had one before so I ordered it medium rare. We ordered the seafood platter, that was fine, the breading on the shrimp was kinda soggy. Main courses comes out, and my medium rare steak was literally back black and blue. It was still cold in the center. I'm not one to send food back, but I couldn't eat it. Sent it back. It comes back quickly... too quickly, still way under cooked. Sent it back a 3rd time. At that point the rest of my family was done eating and I asked for it to just be removed instead. Which they did, and they boxed it up for me anyway in addition to comping all of our drinks, which was of course very nice. I ended up eating that steak for lunch the next day, and IF it was Wagyu, it was A1, there is a 0% chance that had the marbling to be an A5, I've had prime New York's from CostCo that had better marbling. So I give them 2 stars, the server had some learning to do, been there, but was very nice. They made up for their errors on the bill, I appreciate that, but we still went there with higher expectations. 2 stars is kind.
