One of the best meals I've ever had. Creole pasta with shrimp. By request, a lobster tail was added at an additional charge

I've had several good experiences at Mr Johns. Service is great, ambiance is old-school steakhouse. Food is very good. I'll return anytime I'm in town

Enjoyed my birthday dinner with friends! I made a large reservation for 13 guests, which meant we had to order from the limited pre-fixed menu ($100 per person). I knew this in advance. They also let us have the semi-private section for no additional cost. We started off with drinks at the bar. While the drinks tasted good, they were on the lighter side, so I had my next round made as a double. Service throughout the evening was great, so attentive and friendly, and all our food came out together, which I really appreciated. For appetizers, we had the meatballs and onion rings. The meatballs and onion rings were flavorful. I also tried the turtle soup, I wasn't a fan but everyone else at my table enjoyed it. My partner's Caesar salad was good. For my entrée, I had the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly. Could've used a bit more salt. The sides, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and creamed spinach were good. The had about 5 servers bring out our food at the same time. They were on it!Overall, the service was excellent. They did wave $5 cake-cutting fee which I appreciate. I look forward to coming back and will try the regular menu.

Mr John's was our place for our company dinner after a long day at the conference. We were greeted with a friendly smile and quickly brought to our table. Our server was simply amazing! Very informative about the menu items along with the daily specials. He answered all of our questions and even joked around with us and kept the mood light. We also celebrated a birthday and were surprised with a delicious meatball appetizer with the birthday boy having a candle with his. After dinner, again, we sang a second Happy Birthday as our birthday boy was given a slice of tiramisu birthday cake. On with the food!!! Apps were very tasty! As you will see in the photos, we shared them and very happy with the flavors. Our main courses consisted of several cuts of beef and a fish dinner. Not a single complaint on the meats and the various sides that we ordered and again shared. The pictures will do the talking! I can talk to my Ribeye done medium and perfectly served on a hot plate. Juicy, wonderful color, and wonderfully tender! Perfection! As far as the space, the dining area was comfortable. The space was intimate, lots of wood adorned the walls, pillars, and crown moulding. Photos of famous individuals were hung on the walls. If you have the chance to, go here!!! You won't be disappointed by the food and service.

A classic steakhouse - Mr. John's definitely does it well. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and got the celebratory meatball with a candle! We ordered the sizzling lump crab cake and the beef carpaccio. Both delicious, both worth it. My husband had the surf and turf while I had the petite filet. Both steaks were cooked to a perfect mid rare and the lobster came with a whole tin of butter that stayed melted with a candle. It was an intimate place and our servers were very nice. It's similar to most classic steakhouses that you can think of. Certainly wouldn't mind coming here again one day but there weren't aspects to the place that wowed me more or less than others like it.

    Birthday meatball!

Dinner at Mr. John's Steakhouse felt like a proper occasion, which was fitting since we were celebrating the 19th anniversary of my wife's 21st birthday. From the start, the service was on point. Our server Tony was friendly, prompt, and attentive without hovering. A nice touch right out of the gate was a complimentary birthday meatball, which set the tone for the night. We started with the turtle soup and the crab cake. The turtle soup was lighter than expected in a good way. Tomato based, almost reminiscent of a minestrone in flavor, with a noticeable but not overpowering spice kick. The chopped egg added a classic touch and worked well. Nothing off putting about it at all. The crab cake was massive and came out on a hot plate. Fork tender, buttery, flaky, with a subtle sweetness. Heavy on crab, very light on filler, exactly how it should be. For mains, we ordered the veal Alyssa and the signature New York strip. The veal Alyssa is huge, easily enough for two people. They were not shy with the crab meat, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the bolognese had big, hearty chunks of meat. The veal itself was thinly sliced, tender, not gamey at all, with a crispy exterior and solid flavor in the breading. The New York strip was cooked a perfect medium rare with a nice peppered crust. Flavor was spot on. Tender, not overly fatty like you might expect from a ribeye, and a good portion, roughly 12 ounces or so. Straightforward, well executed steak. Dessert was the crème brûlée and New York cheesecake. The crème brûlée was not traditional. No hard cracked caramelized sugar shell. More of an eggy custard than a classic brûlée, but still very good and not overly sweet. The New York cheesecake was thick, creamy, and classic. Served with strawberries and cream, though you can also get it plain or with blueberry or caramel. Overall, it was a really good experience. On a busy Saturday night, the place had a full on vibe. It felt like something out of Goodfellas or The Sopranos. Old school, lively, and confident in what it is. There's something special about Mr. John's, and it absolutely delivered for a celebration.

Visiting Mr. J for lunch as I was visiting The Big Easy. Classic steakhouse decor with Cajun Southern Hospitality. The first aspect that impressed me was the warm service followed by the amazing Filet I experienced . Perfectly peppered and cooked to spec with delectable Bernese sauce . I would certainly recommend the venue and only wish I was hungrier so I could experience more of the menu .

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

Overall, the experience was average and did not fully meet those expectations. The charcuterie and cheese board, priced at $68, was underwhelming in both portion size and value. It included only six thin slices of cured meat and a small selection of cheeses. Unfortunately, one of the cheeses had an unpleasant flavor that made it inedible for our table. The bread service was a highlight, offering a nice variety of breads and accompaniments. The ribeye was cooked well and enjoyable, but it did not stand out from what I've experienced at other upscale steakhouses. The five-cheese couscous was the biggest disappointment, as it lacked the rich, flavorful profile its description suggested. While the service and presentation were appreciated, the overall dining experience did not justify the high expectations or the price point.

We got the bread to start and OMG that bread was delicious! It was buttery, with a honey flavor and 2 spreads to use. I wanted to eat it all but knew I had to eat an actual dish lol. My husband and I shared a small plate-the wagyu tacos. Lets just say I woke up thinking about those tacos I ordered a medium prime rib eye & my husband ordered a medium rare filet. His filet was perfect but my ribeye was overcooked. They made me a new one with no problem & were very apologetic. The new steak was more medium rare than medium but I still ate it and it was good but fatty. We shared the seafood mac & cheese which we both agreed was the best we had ever had. It was a huge portion so we ended up taking some home (didnt last very long after getting home). That being said the next night we tried a different restaurant with great reviews in the same neighborhood. The ambience was great there, but the food did not measure up. Immediately after that meal, we walked back to Morrow Steak to finish our trip on a high note. We shared the cauliflower starter again as well as a dessert this time - which was something I'd never heard of but incredible some sort of cheesecake that was purple. The first night we sat at a table and the second time we sat at the bar - and it was an equally wonderful experience. The bartender was extremely friendly and efficient. From the moment we sat down, the staff set the tone--professional, genuinely friendly, and impressively efficient. We began with a trio of starters that showcased both richness and restraint. The foie gras torchon was silky and indulgent, perfectly complemented by fruit confiture and warm, toasted Bellegarde Bakery bread--a classic pairing done right. Marinated crab claws, dressed in a lively chili vinaigrette, delivered a bright, briny punch, while the pickled pineapple and jalapeño chips added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. A cucumber salad rounded out the starters, crisp and refreshing, acting as a welcome palate reset before the mains. For entrées, comfort and finesse shared the plate. The confit chicken thighs were meltingly tender, paired with ham-braised greens swimming in a tangy apple cider vinegar broth. A lovely Dijon cream tied everything together, adding richness without overwhelming the dish. Equally memorable was the half smoked duck, beautifully executed and deeply flavorful, served over a smooth pumpkin-sweet potato purée. The cherry bourbon glaze brought a subtle sweetness, while the pepitas added texture and a nutty finish. Dessert was the perfect exclamation point on an already wonderful meal: a slice of hot chocolate cheesecake, decadent and deeply chocolaty, crowned with toasted marshmallow fluff that leaned just enough into nostalgia without crossing into excess. Toups Meatery continues to deliver thoughtful, soulful cooking with polish and heart--comfort food elevated, served by a team that clearly knows what they're doing. Already there she gave attitude and said I don't know how else to explain it to you in a rude tone. After we finished our food, we asked her to take multiple cards for the check and she told us to write on the back what to charge each card. I apologize that I did misunderstand what she meant, and put the items rather than the exact amount to charge each card. She came back and said, "you did exactly what I said not to do." So I said sorry and was in the midst of redoing it by calculating when she just snatched it from me and said she'll just do it. I had no problem doing it nor did we complain even once. We understood from the get go no split checks but then she gave the option of multiple cards so obviously we took it. The food was good and the ambience was nice.
