Looking for delicious steaks and the best ambiance in Lakeview?! You just give them a try. The food, service and location are great - one of fav local, neighborhood spots. You actually have 3 sections to dine - main dining room, bar dining area (my fav, walk in and grab a seat) and the actual bar! So cute and quant. I always order the same thing the the food is so consistent. Here are a few of my favs: crabmeat salad, oysters, fresh fish of the day, and of course the filet mignon with creamed spinach and au gratin on the side!!! *Locally owned and operated by the Roth Family and serving New Orleanians for 40 years. Creamed Spinach, Fried Oysters, Garlic Spinach, Gulf Fish Robert, Pinot Noir,

I can only speak to the bar service, as my husband and I popped in for cocktails recently, but I can speak loudly. Do yourself a favor and have a frozen Brandy Alexander!! It's without a doubt one of my favorite specialty cocktails in the entire city. "What's the atmosphere like?", you ask. We'll it's casual, friendly and laid back. The service is wonderful and the crowd is a happy one. A big plus - some guy walked in and asked for a Stoli martini. Nope - no Stoli my good man. Thank you Steak Knife for showing your support for the Ukrainian folks. Stop in and have a drink at the Steak Knife when you get a chance.

Wow!! Wow. The blessing my pallet received when trying Steak Knife for the first time!! I love this restaurant. It's typically a locals dining bar hangout in a classy setting and phenomenal food. We went on a Saturday night and sat at the end of the bar. Everyone knew everyone. It was very welcoming and nice to see the bar chatter. Our server was happy to offer their suggestions which we took. We started out with the onion rings to share as that's typically an appetizer dish in Nola steakhouses. Followed by the filet, potatoes au gratin and creamed spinach. Top tier creamed spinach - it's a must. A friend had French fries with his steak and I highly recommend French fries dipped in the creamed spinach (lol). It's unreal! Everything was fantastic I can't wait to return. I recommend all martinis. We each tried a few but the Appletini and dessert martini was our favorites. The dessert martini had a unique name but it was essentially a spiked chocolate vanilla milkshake. Highly recommend finishing your evening off with one.

The steak was under seasoned & underwhelming...not very flavorful. The crabmeat au Gratin was light & delish with some of the best potatoes au Gratin I've ever tried. No doubt we'll visit this well established restaurant again. I almost forgot to give our server Brett his kudos...he was informative & patient with our indecisiveness because I wanted 1 of everything!

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

We got there a little before they opened but since it was raining they let us in and we waited off the side until they officially opened. Let me start by saying the restaurant is gorgeous! The ambience was grown and sexy and definitely gave fine dining. The waitress was pleasant and gave recommendations because I had no idea what to get. We got the bread to start and OMG that bread was delicious! It was buttery, with a honey flavor and 2 spreads to use. I wanted to eat it all but knew I had to eat an actual dish lol. My husband and I shared a small plate-the wagyu tacos. Lets just say I woke up thinking about those tacos I ordered a medium prime rib eye & my husband ordered a medium rare filet. His filet was perfect but my ribeye was overcooked. They made me a new one with no problem & were very apologetic. The new steak was more medium rare than medium but I still ate it and it was good but fatty. We shared the seafood mac & cheese which we both agreed was the best we had ever had. It was a huge portion so we ended up taking some home (didnt last very long after getting home). Lastly, we ordered the praline crème brûlée....another thing I woke up thinking about Im already thinking about the next time! 10 out of 10!

Now I'm sure the hostess is accustom to people bringing in their pets and lying that they're service dogs, so she told me that we had to sit outside. That's obviously illegal, we got the manager involved, the manager quickly understood that we weren't bringing a pet and got us sat inside. We ordered drinks, they took a long time to come out. I asked the grade of the Wagyu on the Manhattan steak, and the server told me it was "6 or 12 or something" Wagyu obviously comes A1-A5, so I asked him to go check. He came back and said it was A5. Not knowing Wagyu grades, and the drinks taking a while was the only place the service was lacking, he was otherwise delightful. $70 bucks seemed kind inexpensive for an A5, but I had never actually had one before so I ordered it medium rare. We ordered the seafood platter, that was fine, the breading on the shrimp was kinda soggy. Main courses comes out, and my medium rare steak was literally back black and blue. It was still cold in the center. I'm not one to send food back, but I couldn't eat it. Sent it back. It comes back quickly... too quickly, still way under cooked. Sent it back a 3rd time. At that point the rest of my family was done eating and I asked for it to just be removed instead. Which they did, and they boxed it up for me anyway in addition to comping all of our drinks, which was of course very nice. I ended up eating that steak for lunch the next day, and IF it was Wagyu, it was A1, there is a 0% chance that had the marbling to be an A5, I've had prime New York's from CostCo that had better marbling. So I give them 2 stars, the server had some learning to do, been there, but was very nice. They made up for their errors on the bill, I appreciate that, but we still went there with higher expectations. 2 stars is kind.

From the moment we sat down, the staff set the tone--professional, genuinely friendly, and impressively efficient. We began with a trio of starters that showcased both richness and restraint. The foie gras torchon was silky and indulgent, perfectly complemented by fruit confiture and warm, toasted Bellegarde Bakery bread--a classic pairing done right. Marinated crab claws, dressed in a lively chili vinaigrette, delivered a bright, briny punch, while the pickled pineapple and jalapeño chips added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. A cucumber salad rounded out the starters, crisp and refreshing, acting as a welcome palate reset before the mains. For entrées, comfort and finesse shared the plate. The confit chicken thighs were meltingly tender, paired with ham-braised greens swimming in a tangy apple cider vinegar broth. A lovely Dijon cream tied everything together, adding richness without overwhelming the dish. Equally memorable was the half smoked duck, beautifully executed and deeply flavorful, served over a smooth pumpkin-sweet potato purée. The cherry bourbon glaze brought a subtle sweetness, while the pepitas added texture and a nutty finish. Dessert was the perfect exclamation point on an already wonderful meal: a slice of hot chocolate cheesecake, decadent and deeply chocolaty, crowned with toasted marshmallow fluff that leaned just enough into nostalgia without crossing into excess. Toups Meatery continues to deliver thoughtful, soulful cooking with polish and heart--comfort food elevated, served by a team that clearly knows what they're doing. Potato soufflé app was a hit! Perfect appetizer in my opinion and would definitely recommend you try it when you go. As for recommendations that you must try when you go, the crab au gratin was one of the best dishes I've ever had!!! I shared a bite with those at my table and every person just had that look of pure bliss on their face (like the food critic in Ratatouille after he took the first bite). It was absolutely phenomenal and you must try it, though I'd recommend you share as it might induce a stage 5 food coma if you put that bad boy down yourself. I also ordered the Veal chop which was delicious! It was cooked about medium with a nice sear, was flavorful, and was a pretty decent size. We didn't get dessert as we were all stuffed, but I'm sure they're tasty as well. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and would highly recommend you check this place out -- whether you're a local or someone visiting. I know I'll be back the next time I go, probably to try that crab au gratin again as I'm still thinking about it weeks later!!
