Man this place was busy, but for good reason! I've been loving new HK style restaurants and knew we had to try this one! We came on a Friday night and waited about 25 mins for a table of two. The food came out fairly quickly and service was friendly! Inside is super cute, warm, and well-decorated! And they tried to fit as many tables as possible inside. Overall the food was good! Chive dumplings are yummy. Braised beef brisket and tendon was good. Wontons needed more salt. The noodles were good but also needed more flavor (I had to add a lot of red vinegar). The pork belly had great flavor and I appreciated all the components on the plate! The stars of the night were the desserts!! I havent had black sesame soup that smooth and perfectly sweet outside of HK! And the milk custard was also amazing!! And for a fair price! Like many restaurants in the area, this place closes at 8:00 PM. However, unlike many Hong Kong-style cafés that advertise a 9:00 PM closing time but stop serving food and accepting customers as early as 8:30 PM, this restaurant welcomes everyone who arrives before 8:00 PM and lets them enjoy their meal without feeling rushed. Guests can still order everything they want before the kitchen closes, which I really appreciate. My favorites are the oyster sauce tossed noodles and the oyster sauce rice noodles. The pan-fried turnip cake is also crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth trying. Had a chance to check this spot out recently. The place was crowded, which is always a good sign for this type of food, but definitely be prepared for a wait. My advice? Stick to small groups of 4 and try to go close to opening to avoid the crowds. The service was nice and impressively efficient despite the hustle. The Food: Wonton Noodle Soup: A bit of a mixed bag. A solid wonton noodle spot! The space is well-lit and very popular with locals. While they sometimes offer a Yelp waitlist, even when the waitlist is not active, there might still be a wait; you put your name on the paper waitlist. Turnover is fast though so the wait is not bad. Service was quick and friendly. As others have mentioned, the beef brisket & beef tendons are yummy, and perfect with the wonton noodles together. I also had the osmanthus water chestnut drink, which was refreshing. We ran into friends dining here also and they gave Nom Nom Bistro's egg tart a thunbs-up; we'll have to try it next time! This is a relative new restaurant selling quick Chinese Cantonese food. I went because my neighbor wanted to try it. It's very similar to the other quick bite place across from the 7-11 (but now changed to hainan chicken restaurant). I guess the main selling point is the Cantonese wonton dumplings for this restaurant. There really are not many choices but if you come here you kinda know what to expect. The place is surprisingly popular among locals so you often would need to wait a bit. The food is alright but I can't say I'm impressed enough to want to come back. It's just like a McDonald's in that you know what to expect and not much to talk about. I'm not a fan of Cantonese noodles in general as they are not chewy enough and often has that alkali smell and taste. The wonton/dumplings are alright and they are plump enough. I think they are slightly expensive for what you get. The vegetarian goose (mushroom wrapped with tofu skin) is good as it's a common Cantonese dimsum stable. The potstickers I wouldn't recommend because it looks crispy but was lacking. The filling was nice and juicy though. Chicken feet is a cold appetizer that was marinated in lemongrass and black pepper, different from standard but needed more black pepper. A really damn good bowl of wonton noodle soup. That's what the area has been missing, especially since Fat Wong's kept flip flopping and ultimately closed down. Well, I was craving it one night, and the only place close enough with good reviews was Nom Nom Bistro. We DoorDashed two bowls of wonton noodle soup from here last month. The wonton noodles are really thin here, but I believe if you order direct from the restaurant now, you can request thicker egg noodles. Even though I had to wait to eat (hello parenting eating "shifts"), the broth was still piping hot. The broth was flavorful, clean and not overly salty. The wontons were perfectly shaped, flavorful, and cooked all the way through; let's face it a lot of restaurants will have wontons that don't seem all the way boiled through, well you don't need to worry about that here. Nom Nom also doesn't skimp on the amount of shrimps in the wontons, and they give you six wontons. Lastly, the choy had a nice snap to it and just a bit of bitterness. Had the braised beef brisket tendon and wonton noodles along with chive dumplings, wild pepper chicken feet, and smashed cucumbers. I initially ordered the beef brisket tendon and wonton noodles with vermicelli but the server said they were out (it was 10:30 AM...?) so I got it with flat noodles. The portion was good and the tendon was tender to the bite. Wontons were also properly cooked and had lots of filling. Chive dumplings and the pepper chicken feet were nicely seasoned. Great option for a casual and affordable meal of Cantonese comfort food. Ordering was quick and easy via QR code, and all our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the chicken curry with rice, the braised beef curry with rice, and the braised beef with wontons and noodles. Everything was decently portioned, reasonably priced (~$14-17 for our dishes), and simple but tasty. Service was also efficient and friendly, unlike at some of your typical Chinese restaurants. Nom Nom Bistro is a fairly new, clean Chinese spot offering a casual dining experience with comfort-style dishes like wontons, beef brisket rice, curry chicken rice, potstickers, pan-fried dumplings, and more. We ordered the potstickers, beef brisket and wonton noodle soup, and curry chicken over rice. The potstickers were large and filled with shrimp and pork--solid. The noodles, however, were a bit soggy. The beef brisket was tender but just okay in terms of flavor, and the wontons were decent, though not the traditional Hong Kong-style ones. The noodles were the biggest letdown of the meal. The curry chicken over rice was decent but a bit lacking in curry flavor, and came with a generous portion of rice but not quite enough curry. For dessert, we tried the double skin milk custard. It was just okay--more like steamed milk than a traditional Hong Kong-style double-layered version. Service was a bit of a miss. Maybe they're still working out the kinks, but we had to ask multiple times for utensils, tea, bowls, and the check. read more

Incredibly authentic wonton noodles! They source their noodles straight from HK and it has the "soapy" aroma and taste to it, love that and it's super nostalgic. Their wonton uses paper thin wrappers with generous filling of pork and shrimp. I really enjoyed the wonton broth because of how umami the flavor is but still on the lighter side. I usually go to Hon's SF for my wonton fix but glad to see an authentic one pop up in Millbrae! They have a limited menu right now because they're new, I'm excited to see their menu grow. Came here to try out this new place on a Tuesday night. This restaurant runs by a family and they specialize in Canton (ZhongShan?) style food and dessert. Their food and dessert reminds me of my childhood memories in Guangzhou. Their Double Skim Milk Custard is great and I would recommend it for you to try. Must try!! I also love their pan fried dumpling because they are juicy and filled with shrimp and chives. Get the dark vinegar from the self serve counter and dip with it! Definitely a 9/10. Wonton noodle soup is above the average and I heard its ZhongShan style? I would give it a 8/10. Love the noodle texture! Not to mention, their indoor decor is great and reminds me of Guangdong. Very cool decors and great details. Don't forget to self serve yourself with some complimentary soy milk and hot tea at the self serve counter. Service was great and it's run by a small family. I definitely feel the warmth and love from them. They made the food with their love. It was definitely a lovely, memorable dining experience. There's a new café-style restaurant in Millbrae called Nom Nom Bistro, and it's already made its way into my regular rotation. First of all -- the pan-fried dried shrimp rice rolls? SO good. If you're like me and prefer your rice rolls crispy instead of the soft, slippery dim sum style, this one is for you. The texture is everything. Now let's talk dessert, because this is my soft spot. Their tofu pudding and tofu pudding with black sesame instantly took me back to Hong Kong. Light, silky, not overly sweet, and incredibly comforting. It's the kind of dessert you finish and immediately want another spoonful of. I also really enjoyed their stewed soups -- super flavorful and perfect if you're craving something warm and nourishing. I haven't tried their soup noodles yet, but based on how solid their appetizers and small dishes are, I'm definitely coming back for more. This is like a cute and cozy mom and pop shop. New Cantonese café in the neighborhood! I ordered the curry brisket with tendon. The brisket was tender and flavorful, but my bowl only had one piece of tendon and very little potato. Potatoes are a must for curry brisket, and I prefer them lightly fried before cooking so they absorb the curry without getting mushy. The double skin milk custard was delicious though--tasted just like the famous Nam Shun double skin milk from Guangzhou. read more
