    Beef with fried tofu

What a difference! Change in chef and owners and everything is so much better! The service, the taste and uniqueness of the dishes here has improved astronomically! I had a reservation on a Tuesday and was surprised at how crowded it was at night! The staff were hustling and were quick to get orders in and dishes out. Highlight: Black truffle duck (5/5) earthy, aromatic and succulent duck. Skin is crispy while meat is juicy. A must get dish here. Fried tofu with beef (5/5) the meat was perfectly fried and still retained the tenderness of the meat. The tofu is silky and balanced the seasoned meat really well. Crab (4/5) the garlic scallion sauce was fragrant and paired beautifully with the fresh crab. Crab meat didn't stick to the shell and was very sweet. I didn't care too much for the Ho fun under unfortunately. Great spot to get Chinese food and glad the new owners know what they are doing!

I came here for dinner in the private karaoke room. The food was pretty good, I had the Peking duck and tortilla, bone broth soup, roasted pork, fish, two types of fried tofu. The only item that was chewy was some kind beef rib/bone dish, lobster garlic noodle, vegetable soup with vermicelli, red bean bun dessert and sponge cake. Everything was well seasoned and tasty. Some downsides include, glassware with old lipstick stain, small and outdated bathroom. Parking was challenging and I had to find street parking which took awhile. Service was attentive, however, water was not readily refilled. The private room had different song selections in multiple languages and the lighting can be controlled. It is a pretty loud and crowded restaurant.

The last time I ate here was in 2022 for dim sum, and it was just okay. I came for dinner with two friends on a Tuesday evening (3/18/25). We ordered three dishes: pork belly and squid stir fry, short ribs with pumpkin, and eggplant claypot. The dishes were a bit too oily and salty for my taste. The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Tuesday evening, yet we still had to flag down the staff for takeout boxes and the check. While the food was better than I expected, it's not a place I'd choose to return to if given the option.

Came here on a Sunday evening around 7pm to celebrate my MIL's birthday. First thing I noticed was that their chef special menu is only written in Chinese.. Okay so we just asked the waitress to recommend one of their specials and we will get it... Ok so what we ate Steak cube with mushrooms and vegetables: Tasted average like any other Chinese restaurant that serves it. Lobster lo mein: The lobster was small :( There wasn't much meat & the noodles were bland! **THE SPECIAL DISH** Asparagus with sea cucumber intestines: Oh no... it was a bit odd and definitely unique.. The waitress kept saying this is one of their best dishes... I don't think I would order it again unfortunately.. Steamed Fish with onion and soy sauce: Too bad this dish came out an hour later nearly when I was done with my meal.. The fish was dry and we were trying to flag down the waiter to help us debone which he didn't do such a great job.. Overall, the service wasn't great and the food was very average.

The Peking Duck with black truffle/hoisin sauce is a 'must try'. It takes around 45 minutes to be roasted to your table. The skin is so crispy and yummy. Remember to preorder advance. The charcoal grill tender short ribs with a special sauce is recommended. The waiters/waitress are very friendly, especially the one of the waiter assistance who speaks Mandarin and a little Cantonese was so kind and helpful. There was a small private party going on, so I guess it was a little under staff, but really appreciated for the services that the waiter assistance provided and also one of the young waitress who is energetic and efficient followed up on our Peking duck order which was missed. Thanks so much for the delicious dinner and we will be back!

Context: I came here for lunch with my family and arrived around 10:55am on a Sunday. Seating: When we first arrived there were plenty of open tables and no line. That being said, the staff will ignore you unless you walk up to them and get their attention, so we had to flag down wait staff to get a table. The silver lining is that they did seat us without our entire party being here, which is really nice since most places require the entire party to be here before being seated. Ambiance: Starting around 11:15 (once the restaurant filled up), it had the normal busy and bustling ambiance of your typical dim sum restaurant (minus the carts). Ordering: Ordering is done by marking how many of each dish you wanted off a menu, which was convenient! That being said, it took a long time for everything to come out. We were there for 1.5 hours and dishes were still coming out. We wanted to cancel two of our items since they took too long to come out and we were full. The wait staff only canceled one of them and marked the other as served / received even though we didn't get it. We tried to get them to take it off our bill, but they gave us complimentary orders of sesame balls and char siu bao to make up for it since they said it would be complicated to revise the bill. To be fair our group did order a lot of items. Make sure to double check your bill, especially if you ordered a lot of items or requested to have items removed from your bill if you didn't receive them before getting full. Taro Dumpling - 1/5: It was still cold on the inside and tasted sour, which it shouldn't have. They did try to make it up to us by giving us a complimentary order of pineapple custard buns. Pineapple Custard Buns - 4/5: Taste is pretty good and the had a nice color, but the inside was still doughy. Spicy Pig Ear - 4/5: In this dish, the pig ear pieces are cut in strips rather than thin slices, so the crunchy pieces of cartilage are more noticeable. Overall, the taste is pretty good and has a nice numbing taste / feeling. I do wish the spice / chili was more fragrant though. Shrimp Rice Roll - 5/5: The pieces of shrimp were pretty big and the dish is pretty tasty! It was exactly what we were looking for! Dumpling Items (Siu Mai, Har Gao, Scallop Dumpling, Chiu Chow Dumpling) - 5/5: Absolutely MASSIVE dumplings and all around pretty tasty! Would highly recommend! Chicken Feet - 4/5: These chicken must have been dinosaurs with how big these feet were! The flavor was pretty decent, but the feet themselves were not as soft as we'd like them. Portuguese Egg Tart - 4/5: Flavor was on point, but these were so flaky that they basically disintegrated the moment you picked them up. Egg Yolk Lava Buns - 4/5: Pretty standard, the taste was pretty good, the bun itself was nice an soft. Pork Spare Ribs - 5/5: Fresh out the steamer when it got to our table, tender, and the right amount of spicy. Lobster Yi Mein - 4/5: Tasty lobster and noodles with the right amount of bite / chew! We wish there was more in the dish though. Sesame Balls - 5/5: Tasty, not over cooked, and not too oily! Jasmine Tea - 5/5: Fragrant / fresh tea leaves that didn't need to be replaced the whole time we were there! And we had the tea refilled more times than I can count! Service - 3/5: The wait staff were really diligent about refilling tea and resolved all of our comments about our orders, but it did take some back and forth / haggling. Not to mention needing to flag down staff to get seated at the beginning.

We went on a Friday night and it was not full. Had my girlfriend not known two of the people who worked there , I am not sure we would have received the same Attention . We wanted to try their truffle Peking duck specifically and was only mildly impressed . The soup made from the carcass was delicious however . We ordered watercress... ok . The Yee mean noodles was loaded with mushrooms.. good . The walnut prawns was very well Done . The beef stir fry was also good. The deep fried lotus root was delicious . Will be back !

Dim sum - Average, same menu as every other dim sum restaurant. Service - We had to flag down servers for water, soy sauce, napkins - so also average authentic Asian restaurant experience. Lol Parking - Street parking available. Note: Read your bill. For 2 people, a service charge of 15% was already added to the total. We almost didn't see it since "that part" was stapled behind the top bill where you sign and add tip.

We chose this place to hold our reception venue for my mom's funeral. I've never eaten here but my brother recommended this. I was given a banquet menu for 8 dishes for a minimum of 50 people or a minimum of $1500. We were served the following: Yangzhou Fried Rice - Great Scallop & Chive Soup - Bland Shrimp & Scallop in XO Sauce - Good Beef and Broccoli - Delish Buddha's Delight - Decent White Cut Chicken - Looked raw, should have omitted the chicken head. It had too much bones but the sauce made it taste ok. Spareribs & Pineapple - Spareribs also had too much bones. Dessert Soup - I missed this dish because I had to step away from my table. Noticed they didn't serve this at every table. Found out later that some of my guests were declining it because they were too full and had a lot of leftovers. I think this was the sweet red bean soup which I myself would have declined, sorry. Overall, the dishes were so-so. Could've settled for another menu. But it was ok. My guests seemed satisfied.

Ask the Community - New SF Asian Pearl Peninsula

Do they serve push cart dim sum or is it just ordering off cards?

    It's just ordering off cards

Poon cho how you server them to take out?

Some restaurants include the poon choy pot into the cost when you order to go. For New Asian Pearl Peninsula, 6 person portion is $168, and for 10 people it's $268, requires 24 hours advanced ordering.

    Are there some vegetarian options?

Yes, there are lots of vegetarian options. Very tasty too.

I've seen more reviews on Asian Pearl's Dim Sum, but what about the dinner experience? It's been years since i took my favorite relative there for a birthday. She loves well prepared Chinese food w nice ambience and, at least, respectful service.

The dinner experience I had wasn't great at all to be honest. I went there with my family to celebrate my grandmas birthday and I can honestly say I would rather have gone to a Panda Express. The food is pretty average, but what bothered me the most… Read more

The first thing I noticed was that there was really not many pieces of ribs, maybe they made the ribs portion smaller to make room for the lap cheung I ordered? The dish description also says that it includes taro, but I didn't have a single piece of taro in my pot. Strangely, although this place seems to share a kitchen with Social Eatery, the rice was cooked much more poorly here, which is obviously a shame for a place specializing in clay pot rice. It seems like the rice had too much water added, so it was a bit overcooked - you couldn't feel the "single grain" mouthfeel texture you should expect from well-cooked, high quality rice. Since the rice was too mushy, it obviously didn't crisp well either. Though it had some small amount of bits stuck to the edges of the metal (not clay!) pot, it was definitely not the super crispy, well browned "faan ziu" I expect, and not at all like the pictures featured in some earlier reviews of this restaurant.

I also appreciate how thoughtfully they pack their claypot meals to go, which used to make ordering delivery feel like a safe bet. Unfortunately, the quality has really fallen off. This most recent delivery was a huge disappointment where the food had a laughably small amount of meat and mostly dry, bland rice. For what they charge, it felt like a total rip-off. Sad to see such a solid spot become so hit-or-miss, because the claypots used to be genuinely great.

It is just perfect! 5 Baked Spaghetti with Meat Sauce I love pasta! I took one bite and said, "Oh my god!" The tomato taste is so strong. Every bite has a lot of meat sauce, and the noodles are so bouncy. It is very good! No wonder this restaurant is open for more than 18 years! If you fly into SF or before you leave, and you don't know what to eat, come try this place!

Visited at 3:30p on a weekday. No wait and the restaurant had plenty of seating. Quickly offered…read morethe menu and it had lots of Hong Kong cafe options including dishes typically only available in the morning. Order Scrambled Egg with Shrimp Chow Fun and a milk tea. Food arrived quickly. The milk tea was deep bold in black tea flavor balanced with creaminess of the condensed milk. Sweetness was just right for me and I don't typically add sugar to my teas or coffee. The Chow Fun was a large order but since I had a very light breakfast. I devoured the entire dish. The noodles were tender, and slightly chewy. The shrimps were plump and the egg gravy was smooth, velvety, glossy, and slightly thick enough to coat the noodles. The dish was flavorful yet some how light. The staff isn't too friendly but they are efficient. They did not rush us to leave even after we long finished our food and was just chatting away. Although a bit on the expensive side, I would definitely come back.
