This is a decent place. I'm pretty sure it's family-owned, but when your waitress has to go back multiple times to answer simple questions, it makes your experience less of great. I ordered their version of Fish and Chips. It was okay. I'm glad I ate the last strip, as it seemed slimy or under cooked. Came with parmesan fries, which I asked for regular fries. Isabella's was just the place I was looking for. It was recommended to me by the staff at the Sage Motel where I was staying for evening. I had come to Newcastle, Wyoming after spending the day visiting wonderful Devils Tower National Monument about 75 miles away. Eventually I was heading towards Custer, South Dakota exploring the sights and attractions of the Black Hills. I figured though Newcastle would be a good stopping point to rest for the evening. After checking into the Sage Motel, I had no idea where a good place for dinner would be. They mentioned Isabella's, located in the center of town. Actually, the town of Newcastle is pretty small...just sort of a drive through town....so finding Isabella's was no problem. I'm surprised..when I pulled up to the restaurant in the middle of the travel season of July around 7pm, it was rather quiet and empty. They have outdoor seating with even a canopy. Though no one was eating outside. Still, what drew me to this place was that local "mom and pop" type look and feel to it....and my anticipation of having some authentic homemade Italian food of course, lol. The restaurant resembled a reddish barn from a farm and when you enter inside, there are a couple of booths, tables and chairs in a main dining room area including a separate bar around the bend as well as access to the outside seating. My overall impression of Isabella's consistently reminded me of SMALL TOWN. I couldn't get that feeling out of my head, yet it's these types of places that I appreciate...coming to a simple restaurant in a quiet locale on the border of Wyoming and South Dakota. The menu had just about anything you could find and expect from an Italian restaurant. Starters, salads, homemade bread and soup, subs, pasta, calzones, pizzas, even burgers, paninis, wraps, steaks! The menu was pretty diversified and prices are plenty reasonable. The subs, pastas, sandwiches, wraps. etc...all ranged from $10 or so dollars, large pizzas $15 - $20. I chose a chicken parmesan sub, which came with a side....like mac and cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, fries, rice, broccoli, or even soup or salad. I went with a salad which they brought out to me as my starter. The salad was fresh and delicious. My chicken parm sub was hot with nicely baked bread, sauce, melted cheeses and crispy pieces of fried chicken. Combined...my salad and hero went perfectly together....just what I was craving after being out on the road hiking around Devils Tower all day and then making my way here to Newcastle. Finally, the staff were friendly and attentive. The good service and food combined with the ambiance of this small town restaurant was ideal for me. I couldn't have asked for much more. I know there's not much happening in Newcastle, Wyoming, but if you're in town and stopping for the evening or while driving cross country....I'd certainly recommend eating at Isabella's. read more

Last option left on a Sunday at 8pm. Was driving through town on a cross country trip with my girlfriend. Was disappointed in the initial wait time and response to be seated by a certain waitress. However Jamie stepped in and provided amazing service. She was working the bar but served us outside on the patio for the hour or so we were there. The food was fantastic including the portobello & sausage tortellinis (all homemade) and the taco burger. Would recommend this place for food and environment any day if in town for more than an hour! read more

The owner of the hotel where we stayed recommended Isabella's and I'm glad we went. The food was wonderful! Don't be mislead. Yes, they have pizza, but that's only a fraction of the menu. For appetizers we got Greenie Meanies and Spinach Artichoke dip. The Meanie Greenies are jalepeno's with cheese, roasted brisket and a raspberry sauce. I'm not sure the raspberry sauce added to the dish, but it was tasty. The dip was more sour cream that spinach or artichoke, but the toasted bread was wonderful. For dinner we got Mexican Tater Tot skillet, Italian Salmon Skillet and a personal Italian Pizza. The pizza was tasty, the sauce was superb. Mexican Tater skillet may sounds a little iffy, but it was wonderful. Black beans, corn, taco-seasoned meat, tater tots and lots of cheese. I loved my Salmon, served with an Alfredo sauce over pasta. But the pasta was not cooked in salt water, so it was a little bland. The sauce was a little watery. The prices were OK-ish. I think $10 for a personal pan pizza is a little stiff. The service was excellent, the food came quickly. So...not a perfect meal, but certainly tasty enough that we'll be going back again. read more

Coming into Newcastle, I was struck by the superb Jeffersonian style Weston Courthouse and going around the corner to park for a photo, there was Isabella's Pizza. I ordered a calzone with various meats and veggies. I was very good with the marina sauce inside rather than poured over the top. Some nice greens came with the calzone. read more

I hate giving small places bad reviews, but this was pretty ridiculous. I ordered a pizza to go on the road. The price of the pizza was 17.95. I asked my waitress how much the extra toppings are, she said they are 40-65 cents. I ordered 4 veggie toppings. When I get the bill the pizza is $28.95. She said oh they change depending on the size you get, when it says very clearly "price is for large 16" pizza" I had to argue with the person in charge to change it. I wouldn't have ordered the pizza to begin with if I knew the real price for the toppings. The waitress also forgot one of my orders which was Mac n Cheese, my Alfredo pasta sauce was not warm, and my cousins salad tasted old. The staff was nice and friendly. Newcastle has pretty minimal food options, most of which are greasy or downright nasty but, Isabella's is a slight improvement. Salads are pretty good (they're the only thing that MAY not have fallen off the Sysco truck) pizza and pasta are anywhere from generic at best to bland. Service is ok but, everyone in Newcastle acts like they're swamped when there really isn't much of anything going on. read more
