Nono Jose's has recently opened up in the Parkway Plaza Food Court in El Cajon. You can usually find him around San Diego's Farmers Markets, but now, in addition to the food stands, he now has opened his first brick and mortar. I picked up a trio of empanadas: the chicken, the mushroom cheese, and the breakfast empanada with bacon, eggs, and cheese for $13. All three empanadas were very good, but I was a little disappointed with the Mushrooms & Blue Cheese one. It was tasty but the majority of the mozzarella and blue cheese pretty much dissolved. On a great note, the chicken empanada was delicious. It came piping hot and was stuffed with a savory chicken tinga. The chicken tinga was well made. The breakfast empanada was great, too. The eggs were fluffy and well seasoned, the bacon was plentiful and tasted great, and the cheese was noticeable and good. All three empandas had a light baked pastry. The service was upbeat and friendly. There is plenty of seating available. Larger orders are welcomed and catering is available.

Excellent beef empanadas. Great quick, quality smack. Not a lot of Argentinean food in San Diego and this is a great addition.

She knows her stuff-knows how to ask the right questions so that you get what you really want. For instance, I was on the fence about having biscuits and gravy but I asked if the gravy was really peppery. She offered to get me a small taste and although it was delicious, I've been a little under the weather so I decided I didn't want anything really heavy. Instead I ordered the 3 egg scramble with their smoked ham and added cheese-it was really good and a huge serving including their potatoes and English muffin. I'll probably be able to make two more meals from this serving! My husband ordered the eggs Benedict and asked which potatoes they would be able to make the most crispy as we both like our potatoes crispy. She suggested the hash browns and even asked if he wanted them crispy on both sides which was a great way to get them the way he wanted. Those kinds of gestures really make the difference when you're dining out. The eggs Benedict and the hash browns were delicious, btw. :) Camryn had a great personality too-very friendly, bright and quick. She did a great job of checking in on all of her tables. When we go back I hope we are lucky enough to have Camryn serve us again but all of the servers seemed very friendly as well. Great job, Izzy's and Camryn!

HOLY SMOKES!! We are so happy to have been brought here for lunch! What an amazing experience!!!…read more Hacienda Casa Blanca made us feel welcomed like we were family. We were a large group so there were a few people rotating in and out to make our lunch special. The restaurant itself is beautiful. There is outdoor dining as well. Everything is well decorated and maintained. I would say very festive! There's live music on Sundays and Wednesdays. I would love to come back on a Wednesday for the Latin Jazz. The food was amazing! We felt like it was authentic and reasonable price point. For the table, they brought out lots of chips and salsa. It was nice and crispy and flavorful. Not spicy, though. I had ordered the Hacienda Carne Asada. It was a flamed broil skirt steak with a cheese enchilada, rice, beans, and guacamole. The beans came inside a fried tortilla bowl. OH MY! It was so good. I am embarrassed to say, I kept on eating and talking even though I was full. Overall, we had a great time! The food was delicious. The service was amazing. Ample parking. The price point was reasonable in this economy. You get plenty of food. Clean bathrooms. Look at their website for live entertainment schedule! I cannot wait to come back soon!

We enjoyed a really good breakfast at Broken Yolk in Santee on a sunny Sunday morning…read more We arrived around 9:45 and the dining room was already hopping pretty good. We are bar sitters and found the "hook" open, so we took our seats. Luke was our bartender/server for the day. Luke provided excellent service. Super friendly dude. We hope that your knee is fixed Luke! A mimosa for Becky and a Modelo "NFL" for me to start. Bex ordered the Meat Lover's Skillet. Diced ham, bacon and sausage sauteed with bell peppers, onions, and home fries. Topped with scrambled eggs, Jack cheese and green onion. I chose a side of Biscuits and Gravy as I knew I would be sharing in the skillet. After about a 10-minute wait, our food was delivered. It was piping hot fresh out of the kitchen. Bex decided that she wanted a side of sourdough toast, Luke had it to us in less than two minutes, despite his bum knee. The skillet was a very large portion and easily fed us both with plenty to take home. Every component of the skilled was excellent. From the breakfast potatoes on the bottom to the gooey Jack cheese on top. The eggs were scrambled and seasoned well. The biscuits were super dense and really tasty. The gravy was thick and peppery. I did not need two biscuits. I only finished one. Only One biscuit with an additional ladle of gravy would have been perfect. It had been a while since our last visit to Broken Yolk. We were very impressed with the food and the service.
