Better than expected Chinese in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. We came up from Park City and given the very MEH Chinese opportunities in PC, we decided to give the Wonderful Inn a shot. The kitchen is definitely full of Chinese cooks and the offerings are definitely authentic interpretations of American Chinese. Portions were big, and it was a great value. I really think this place is 3.5 stars (but rounded up to 4 stars), as I got my terrible feeling of major MSG & salt overdose on the drive home. I definitely think it's worth a shot to eat here if you are in the neighborhood, but be warned about salt and MSG. read more

Another Saturday noon and I am hungry for chinese food. Down to wonderful Inn, the family and me go. Ordering off the luncheon menu, I select the almond nut shrimp meal. It was fantastic. The hot and sour soup was a great starter and the main course other than the egg role was great. All four of us left satisfied with plenty of food remaining for another meal. read more

Was in town on my way home from a trip and the good reviews had me looking forward to yummy food. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I was there for dinner and ordered sesame chicken with fried rice. There was nothing yummy about any of it. The chicken was tough and chewy like it had been cooked more than once. The sauce was on the watery side and not the best. And the fried rice was white rice saturated in soy sauce with 3 little pieces of carrot in it. It is not like me to not take my leftovers but I had no desire to eat any more. I wish I could have given a better review. read more

I would buy their hot and sour soup by the gallon if I could. We were seated so fast and the food was delicious.

The service was horrible. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the waitress never checked on us. I ran out of water and had to walk to the cash register and ask for more water. Then 10 minutes later, I had to go back to the cash register and ask for another cup of rice. They never gave me a check and I had to go to the cash register to get my check and pay. After I paid, she gave my son and me our fortune cookie. My son walked out and started to eat the cookie and spit it out in the trash. He said it tasted like cardboard and glue. The place was also not very clean. I would not recommend. My dish tasted ok but my sons was not good at all. I guess it meets the standard of Wyoming Chinese food, which is obviously very low quality. read more

This location looks a little sketchy from the outside. Don't let that deter you from having dinner or lunch here. The inside is dated but clean. The food is what you here for and it didn't disappoint. The large hot and sour soup was enormous! With a slight spice it really hit the spot. I loved how much heartiness was in the soup. I also loved that it was meat free The Rangoons were solid. It wasn't anything mind blowing but nothing disappointing either. I got the hot mustard to put on it and that took it up a level. The broccoli in a spicy brown sauce was fantastic. It was a huge portion! I would definitely recommend this place. The service was friendly. Driving by, you probably wouldn't look at this place and think...that's it, that's the place I want Chinese from. But...it is. We were visiting Park City and on a whim decided to come to Evanston, WY just to say we've been to WY! I'm really glad we did. The service here was really friendly and personable. I ordered the Fried Shrimp appetizer and the General Tso's Chicken lunch special. The lunch special comes with an egg roll and small soup (I ordered Hot and Sour Soup). The fried Shrimp were good and hit the spot of the craving I had. The egg roll was good and tasted great coupled with soy sauce or Chinese hot mustard. The General Tso's Chicken thought was phenomenal. The chicken tasted fresh and of good quality. The sauce was not super sweet, like a lot of places make it, and had a good flavor and spice to it. If I ever find my self in Evanston, WY again, you can bet I would be lined up here for another serving of great Chinese food! read more

Wow! In Evanston for a 2 day job and came across this gem. I got the deluxe Lo Mein and some chicken wings. AMAZING! Best Lo Mein I've had in 25 yrs. Not even joking, the best! My husband and I drove into town and decided to give the Wonderful Inn a try, and so glad we did. We were sat immediately on a Friday evening. We ordered the pot stickers and they came out hot and fresh. We then ordered from the family combination section. Soup was good and hot, cheese wontons hot and good, shrimp was hot and good, the vegetable egg rolls were not our favorite but they were hot. I had the shrimp and mixed vegetables, my husband got the Szechuan chicken they both had a clean fresh taste and were hot and fresh. Staff were very friendly, quick and efficient. The noise level in the restaurant was on the quiet side and enjoyable. read more

This restaurant looks like it had been here a long time, but don't let that stop you. We stopped in at 2 p.m. All lunch specials are $10.50. Seafood, beef, chicken, or pork. Didn't matter. Sweet and sour or egg drop soup. Yummy, fresh eggroll. Cream cheese Wonton. And lots of choices for the entree. I had cashew shrimp. 6 large shrimp, onion, asparagus, zucchini, carrots. All cooked perfectly. My husband had sweet and sour shrimp. 6 pieces of deep fried shrimp, fresh pineapple, peppers, onions, carrots. Both of us had a choice of fried rice or white. We stopped in for lunch at 11am on a Friday. We were seated and served right away. We ordered off the lunch menu: orange chicken, shrimp cashew, and general tso's chicken, and the fried shrimp appetizer. This was the perfect amount of food for 5 people to share. The lunch specials came with rice, egg roll, and soup. Everything was delicious! The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. We were really optimistic based on the reviews, but unfortunately it was disappointing. We live in Park City and have not been able to find Chinese food here that is even edible, much less anything that is actually resembling authentic or good, so when we were passing through Evanston and I was checking out restaurants, we wanted to give it a try. We would actually drive an hour for good food given the limited options around these parts. The one good thing was the shrimp fried rice. It was solid, not great, but reliable. You'd be surprised at how many places totally f up fried rice! The other solid thing was the veggie egg rolls. The only problem was there were only 2 tiny egg rolls in the order - when I went back and looked, it does say "2", which I didn't see at the time or I would have gotten 2 orders. As for the entrees, they were across the board disappointing. We ordered the kung pao chicken, garlic beef, and Szechwan shrimp. All 3 were swimming in greasy sauce. When I say swimming, the greasy sauce was all the way to the top of the container. I've never had Chinese food swimming in soupy, greasy sauce. After using a slotted spoon to scoop out the the shrimp & veggies, it was ok. It wasn't that it tasted bad, it just wasn't very flavorful. I had ordered it medium spicy and it had no heat at all, not even mild. The Kung Pao chicken was the same, after straining off the greasy sauce, it tasted ok. Just very bland. The garlic beef was inedible. The beef was tough & chewy and tasted a little funky. We had ordered both the Kung Pao chicken and the garlic beef to be very hot/spicy. Neither had more than mild heat. The hot & sour soup didn't taste hot or sour, it was actually almost sweet, had a weird taste and was also extremely greasy. Nothing like any hot & sour soup we've had before. Even if the food had tasted reasonably good, the amount of grease was overwhelming and made it generally inedible. We've had authentic and amazing Chinese food in many places, SF, NY, LA, and there is even an amazing authentic Chinese restaurant in Venice Italy! All of that is to simply say, we know what good, authentic Chinese food is and what it isn't. I'm not sure why this place is getting such rave reviews. I suspect it is because there is really no authentic Chinese food in this area of the country to compare to. Needless to say, we will continue our quest for good Chinese food! I didn't see on the website whether they claim to not us MSG, but about an hour after eating I got a pretty profound headache which is my typical response to MSG. so adding that for those who are super sensitive to the additive. read more

Wonderful in is pretty impressive for its Geographical Location in SW Wyoming. I stopped in as I was passing through and had some time to kill. I was seated immediately and the Waitress was very kind and friendly. Our appetizer and meal was timed perfectly and arrived promptly. I have had a few meals but I always gravitate back to their Mongolian Beef. The portions are more than enough to get two meals out of. The ingredients are always fresh and cooked perfectly. I notice that a lot of folks cook the hell out of veggies but that is not the case here. They're cooked perfectly with enough snap for a great texture but tender enough to not have too much chew. Even when the joint is slammed, they still crank food out expeditiously. My only complaint is their Spicy Mustard. It seems like it is mixed with Sweet & Sour Sauce or diluted with something else. I hope they read this because I love accompanying beef Spicy Mustard that clears the sinuses. read more
