I went here once and I liked it! Passing by this location numerous times I was growing curious about what different noodle dishes they made. Walking in I saw how quiet and pleasant the interior was with lower lighting and music playing quietly. Then I looked at the menu. Though pretty pricey I tried about two things they offered and loved them. I remember I had nothing to eat before I arrived and it seemed like it worked to my benefit. It was as if my sense of taste was stronger than usual because I could taste that they gave the noodle dish flavor. My friend who had eaten a meal prior did not feel the same way about his food. I hope to come here again and bring more people because I was happy and satisfied with my food. Maybe one day when my crew want to visit the mall we can come here early and fill our stomachs before the afternoon rush! Wasn't overwhelmed by the food at this restaurant. The pan fried dumplings were okay. I thought the roti chanai was rather bland or muted despite the spice that was part of the curry. The scallion pancake was too thick and solid; not good especially as there was no dipping sauce provided to attempt to enhance the bread. The sesame noodles were a bit oily which is as expected with a hint of nutty flavor. Oooh! We really enjoyed our quick dinner at Noodle 8-8, which sort of borders in a zone in between fast casual and traditional Am-Chi asian fusion. We were limited to trying the vermicelli vegetarian soup (delicate, but tasty), the General Tso's Tofu (excellently fried tofu -- crispy on the outside but still creamy on the inside) the excellent, excellent multi-grain rice, and szechuan dumplings (which had an oily sauce that seemed like it was just pepper oil, that I passed on after trying it, but the dumplings were delicious by themselves). Service from the kitchen was incredibly quick just as the dinner rush was starting on a weeknight, and we had a perky and efficient server. There was a large family party near us that seemed to be finishing up when we arrived and still hadn't left when we did, with some fussy kids, so I'm going to take this as a sign it's kid- and family-friendly. I was a little bit skeptical of how good Noodle Eighty Eight would be, but I was damn pleased with everything I tried this weekend! I started with the chicken and mushroom dumplings as well as pork dumplings in hot chili oil. Both were delicious; they come in increments of 6. I also got the fried spicy chicken, usually called Chongqing chicken at most Sichuan restaurants. The spice level was spot-on but I do wish they had fried the chicken just a tad longer to get it crunchier. The portion size was quite large - it can easily feed 2 people. The Dan Dan noodles were excellent and are appropriately sized for one person. I will 100% be returning to N88 so that I can try more menu items. read more

Surprisingly really good food in Swarthmore/Springfield. The owners are Taiwanese, so by that logic you should get the popcorn chicken, but my boyfriend and I ended up getting vermicelli noodle with ground pork, szechuan style beef stomach, and the seafood fried noodle (my fave). The portions are decently sized and it's probably the best Chinese (predominantly Szechuanese) food you'll get around Springfield, will be returning. read more

We came here last week for dinner and had a really nice time. First I have to say - it was a lottttt of food for the cost. So everyone happily left for leftovers. We ordered 2 apps - scallion pancakes and the duck sandwich. I didn't try the duck sandwich but everyone else loved them. The scallion pancake was good - everyone liked them a lot although I thought they seemed a little thicker than what I am used to. For my meal I ordered Dan Tze Mein which was good. It was the smallest meal served to the table and I still had noodles to take home. The other meals ordered were pork pad thai (which I took a taste of and didn't care for the sauce), chicken fried rice, and (I forget exactly which dish?) but some noodle dish with pork. We discovered Noodle 88 on Monday; our experience was so good, we resisted going back the next day and held off until we could return a few days later with a friend who would also enjoy it. Everything we've had so far has been flavorful and very interesting (like the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and the duck sandwiches). If anything, I think the noodle dishes were slightly underwhelming, given the name, but not so much I'd knock a star off (and certainly not for the price!). The staff are attentive and very nice, the restaurant is well-lit and put together well, and the tea service is a delight. We can't wait to try literally everything on the menu, because everything so far has been amazing. read more

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night, sat right down. Service was good, was tasty and of good quality. I enjoyed my picks, Wonton Soup, Pork Fried dumplings, and Walnut Shrimp. All were cooked perfectly, tasted great and the ingredients were of high quality. Shrimp were big, and cooked perfectly. My Wife chose Sichuan Chicken and my Daughter chose Sesame Chicken, both were equally as good. I was skeptical about this place, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was so good. Called for a small pick up order of Dan Dan noodles. I was told it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was, I appreciate that. I think the owner is the one picking up the phone and acting as host, didn't have a lot of energy or hospitality. Personally I think they'd do better in terms of customer experience if they hire a young person to answer the phone and greet people. I only say this because the food was pretty good and if they just got the customer experience thing down they could be great. Dan Dan noodles - good combo of spicy, salty and bitter. This was our first time at Noodle Eighty Eight. The service was great, no wait time and our waitress was very nice. The restaurant was very clean and a nice setting. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls, won-ton soup, Kimchi noodles, and the Chicken Pad Tai. We loved the wonton soup, and the spring rolls were great. My daughter wasn't a fan of the Kimchi Noodles she said they were a little salty. The chicken pad Thai was a little sweet. After I added soy sauce, it really helped. We just tried this restaurant for the first time. We had pan steamed dumplings (ginger beef) as an appetizer, General Tso's chicken (my husband) and Curry chicken (me). The food was absolutely delicious and we truly appreciated brewed hot, black, tea with our meal. The only "glitch" is that the service is a bit slow-perhaps one more waitperson is needed- resulting in the appetizer arriving only minutes before the main course. Every time I go to my dog's vet I stop in Noodle Eighty Eight. They never disappoint. I would suggest you take your time and other something different every you go as it is hard to nail their goodness down to one thing. I generally don't get to eat in but I've sat and waited for food as the dogs are usually being watched but my vet family. lol but the ambience is a vibe and the customer service is top notch. I would say this place is about 3.5 stars. The service was really good and the food was for the most part decent. My family and I have a craving for some Chinese, but didn't want to take the drive to Philly, so this was the closest to us. Plus, we wanted to give this place a shot. Not really something I would get again. Beef lo mein - this isn't your typical lo mein. It's served with a white squigglyish type noodle. It's more of the shave noodles at hand-drawn places. This dish was delicious though. Very flavorful. Definitely a go to dish Wonton soup - again not typical hong kong style with the shrimp and pork, but it was good. I really enjoyed it. The broth felt nice and light and the wontons were filled nicely. My son ate a majority of this dish. Walnut shrimp - it was ok. I had really high hopes for this place. It's not easy finding good Asian places around here. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles, the zha jiang noodles, lo mein, egg rolls and steamed dumplings to go. The first two noodles were dry even after heating it up, and not enough sauce to coat the noodles. It didn't taste good either. The lo mein were the fat noodles and very mushy, there was also a piece of the metal scrubber in the lo mein that i was about to feed my son! My daughter said she liked the dumplings, i didn't try them and the egg rolls were mediocre. The sauce for dipping was extremely salty. What a great spot! Put in a large takeout order for Christmas Day, and it was ready for pick-up in twenty minutes. I was already impressed by the variety of gluten free options they offered on the menu, and when we went to pick things up they had put the gluten-free food in a separate bag and checked with me a couple of times to be sure I knew which was which. I had ordered one dish (the sesame chicken, which was delicious), specifically as gluten-free, but they sorted out and labeled all the other food in the order that didn't contain gluten, which was a great option for sharing and knowing what I could sample from family member's plates! Really glad about the way they handle sensitivities and allergies, since I've had some very bad experiences with restaurants around that. The person who took the order and gave us the food was super helpful and on top of things--there were no errors in the order, and we appreciated the bonus fortune cookies (and oolong tea) we received, too. Didn't get a chance to dine in this time, but the ambience when we popped in to pick the order was very nice and I'd love to get a chance to have a meal there in the near future.
