We visited Ichiban Seafood Buffet in Springfield, PA on January 1st, 2026, to celebrate the New Year, and it turned out to be a great way to start 2026 with family and good food. The restaurant was busy due to the holiday, but the staff managed everything well and kept the buffet running smoothly. The buffet offered a wide variety of options, especially for seafood lovers. We really enjoyed the crab legs, which were refilled frequently and tasted fresh. The shrimp dishes--including fried shrimp and garlic shrimp--were flavorful and well cooked. There was also a good selection of fish, mussels, clams, and seafood stir-fry, which made the seafood section the highlight of the meal. In addition to seafood, Ichiban had plenty of Asian and American-style dishes. The hibachi grill was popular, allowing you to choose fresh ingredients like chicken, beef, shrimp, and vegetables cooked right in front of you. The crab was smelling awful last Saturday .They probably didn't wash them before cooking. The shrimps were overcooked. They don't wash the oysters and when you eat them you feel dirt and small stones under your teeth. . They don't clean the black small mussels and if you look at inside you will find awful things attached to the mussels. The lady that serves sweets looks at clients like she hates them. Seems that she doesn't want anybody touch the sweets. She always observes clients and watches so bad specially kids . The servers always have eyes on our plates and observe how much you eat and if you have a full plate or you eat a little bit more they watch you so bad and make complaint speaking their own language. Probably my favorite Chinese buffet anywhere. I like that they also have hibachi in addition to the standard Chinese dishes offered. I brought my daughter here because she really likes the fact that Buffetts allow her to have so many different items to choose from. If you want to be a pro, get your hibachi plate filled up with your goodies then hand it over to the man to cook, when he's all done and gives it back to you take it over to your table and leave it there (it's 1000 and needs to cool) go grab your buffet favorites and then return to your table, have you buffet food then your perfectly hot but not melt you face hibachi plate. They are really good at accommodating larger groups, the sports teams I coach usually stop in here at the end of the Season. read more

We went there Saturday. Food and service are great. Sushi is excellent. The only thing I absolutely hate about this place is the children run freely. Their parents aren't watching them. They , pick up food with their hands on the buffet, And the Biggist one is ice cream machine. My Table was directly across from the machine. I watch child after child go up, play with the ice cream machine. Stick Their Hands in the flow of it. Absolutely disgusting. They just aren't being supervised by their parents and the staff is too busy to watch them. My suggestion is to move that somewhere else in the restaurant.So somebody can watch it. I also watched a group of teenagers get out of control when their mother went to the bathroom. They were throwing food and I felt so bad for the server. Nothing really to say for service since it's serve yourself. Food here is descent depending on what you like. They usually have fried salt and pepper shrimp shell on, sometimes they have soft shell crab and salmon which never looked appetizing to me. They have a nice selection of sushi, a kids food or fried food area that has fries, chicken wings, French fries, nuggets. I like the Korean bbq ribs they have but they don't have much meat on them and they go quickly. This place is byob. It can get a little busy on sundays but overall decent food. Unfortunately, with all the competing buffets, this place has gone a bit downhill. In this establishment, you pay and tip first before being seated. The hostess & servers are always kind, but the food is "meh" for lunch. However, they do have everything for an AYCE: seafood, sushi, hibachi, hot Chinese food, American bbq style, salad bar and desserts. The food quality was subpar for us. Maybe because of the low turn over rate? For $12.99 for lunch (not including tip and drinks) it's still a bargain, just not the greatest. read more

The place is not the best but decent for the area. It's hidden behind the Target on Baltimore Pike and in what used to be Old Country Buffet. It's got your typical Chinese/Japanese food with some American food, like mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, corn, etc. Fruit, some salad items and desserts are up for grabs as well. They have a variety of sushi but they're usually the cold type. There's a very small hibachi where you can select what you want on your plate & hand to the chef to cook with the sauce of your choice. They'll cook it in front of you because... hibachi. Since it's in the old Old Country Buffet location... it also looks like one. The furniture and carpet are outdated. There are a lot of stains on them. There is some food filth in the serving areas such as crumbs and grease stains from previous customers. Ironically enough, the buffet area looks great and clean. Customer service is not so bad - the waiters try to attend to you but they don't check on you too much. I might come back if I'm in a hurry and feel like having a buffet-style meal, but that's probably not going to be often for this place. I had the steak, and it was so rubbery I could have bounced it on the floor. The orange soda was the only item I recommend. I haven't been here in a long time. But curiosity got to me. I've liked this place at times. Other times I've hated it. But it's a new day and it's time for a new judgment. I can't eat as much as I used to so a place like this might be wasted on me. I can't say I'll be a regular here. But, it's a good place for someone like me that wants to focus on protein. We came here for Sunday late lunch. It was our first time here and we were surprised to see the line waiting outside the restaurant at about 1pm. It wasn't too bad and didn't take too long for us to get a table. But when we were finished around 3 pm, the line was even longer and there was no seat available inside... SUNDAY meal is dinner all day which means food is better with a higher price. But it was definitely worth each penny! First time here with the family. Place is busy but not ridiculously busy. To me nothing special just decent edible food. Coming from previously working as a cook and being Chinese American. Dish varieties are American/Chinese with Sushi rolls and Hibachi as the main Japanese dishs. Similar to your Chinese take out restaurant. I've seen and tried most of these dishes. So nothing caught my attention. Don't get me wrong it is good unlike ones in center city. Environment is casual, mostly families with kids. Service was ok. Not going into detail about the dishes because it's buffet food. It's decent enough to eat and no heat burned dry. It's good when you don't feel like making dinner and want to give your hands a break from washing dishes. Tables, is clean not shinny clean. Still feel kind of sticky same as the floor. But all and all it a decent spot for a break from cooking. Prices is fine $18 for adult and $8 for kid at dinner makes it easy on the wallet now a days. I was so surprised how amazing this buffet is! We went around 5pm on a Saturday evening and there was already a line out the door and this place is very large! All the food was super fresh and they kept coming out - even the seafood and some of the more premium items. The most surprising food was the cornbread. So good! Most Chinese buffets are the same but this particular place pays attention to details, such as keeping the stations immaculate and filled. They have a hibachi bar where you pick out the meat or seafood and toppings, along with noodles and rice hibachi fried. I love this buffet. I just wish they had Coke - they have Pepsi which I'll take in a pinch lol I love the flounder and the fried rice. They have pumpkin pie too. The service was ok but could be better. They sometimes stand there and watch you eat - I guess waiting for a tip. Lol I usually tip $5 to $8 depending on the service. It's nice in there. Great lighting and they have TV's too. I'm usually on my phone though. And it's pretty cheap. Under $30 a person. And they give out fortune cookies. If you want a knife (and spoons and forks) they're by the soup section. The bathroom is always great and I love the paper towels as opposed to the hand dryers which simply just blow on your hands. I only came here because I wanted all you can eat crawfish. The crawfish weren't bad but everything else was. The blue crabs were not fresh. I could taste the ammonia and bitterness, basically the crabs were already dead when they were cooked. The oysters were jelly like, just don't eat it. The little neck clams were gritty. Sushi was over stuffed with rice. Also you had to pay upfront and the machine asked for tip, which I thought was very rude since we haven't even gotten served yet. I clicked no tip. When we were leaving, the waitress looked at the receipt I had left on the table and saw that I didn't leave any tip and told me to leave some. That rubbed me wrong again. I hate it when the first thing waitresses do is check for how much money they made while rushing you out the door and expecting tip. I most always tip 18-20% but this time I did not because of the attitude. To make matters worse, 24 hours later, me and my family who came with me, all three of us, got food poisoning and bad runs, on Christmas Eve, too! (Went on the 23rd). So terrible. For the price it's def worth since it's a seafood buffet. They don't offer crab legs but they do have crawfish, blue crabs, shrimp and etc. The seafood is okay, can't expect top notch since it's a buffet but it'll do. The other food are good, mediocre.
