This review is for the cafe side. I am a regular customer at this supermarket and at many occasions…read moreI order their duck. This time I saw a review of the pho and it is recommended to ask for ribs and oxtail which I did that. I just got back from Vietnam not too long ago and let me tell you this is hands down the best pho in San Antonio! The owner is so so friendly! He took me to the kitchen showing me how he cook the broth. We had a chat about Vietnam and the food and different style of pho between north and south. At the end of my meal he brought out snacks and insisted on me taking a hand full of them! I believe this pho is only offered on weekends and make sure to ask for the mix. For a moment they thought I was ordering one of each This supermarket and cafe truly give you a Vietnam experience without the need to get on a plane. Highly recommend

Pros: - Pretty good selection for San Antonio…read more - Freshness varies relative to when you visit vs. when they got a shipment, but it can be decent! Cons: - Not fully stocked .. ever?? There's always gaps in the shelves from sold out products.. but there's probably a serviceable substitute available. Also prices aren't always clearly displayed - Asian grocery store smell (or maybe it's a pro if you're feeling nostalgic haha) This store leans Vietnamese and Chinese but, true to its name, it also carries a decent selection of other Asian products (like Japanese and Korean, I'm personally not as familiar with Thai so can't speak on that). It's great to have fresh Asian produce that's reasonably priced - i.e. $1.50-2.50 / lb for leafy greens. $2 for enoki mushrooms. There's also a strong seafood section with live fish. Location is super convenient off of I-35. Parking is easy. I come here once a month or so to restock my Asian groceries.

You call to reserve the bento box and then stop by to pick it up. I originally wanted to try the Ebi Fried Shrimp Bento Box, but it had already sold out. So I went with my second favorite, the Shiromi (white fish fry) Bento Box, and it did not disappoint. The fish was crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, and paired well with the rice and sides for a satisfying lunch. The sides include kinpira, tamago yaki and snibazuke. I also picked up a Moshi Sparkling White Peach Yuzu drink, which was light, refreshing, and had a nice balance of sweet peach flavor with a citrusy yuzu finish. If you're looking for authentic Japanese snacks, drinks, or a fresh grab-and-go meal, Asahi Japanese Market is definitely worth a visit.

I love everything Japanese and this was such a cute find for me. We got some items today, including a black sesame and matcha soft serve that is only served on weekends. The matcha soft serve is average but I really like and can taste the black sesame soft serve. This is a legit Japanese grocery store to check out, especially if you can't find certain items in typical stores.

THE BLACK AND WHITE: When I say Vietnamese-style, it's only because most of the internal signage is in vietnamese. It has every asian countries ingredients from China/Korea/Vietnam to The Philippines and indonesia. You can find some really good pricing here on those staples. Fresh produce aisle is a bit limiting. Pretty big seafood area and meat. Walking to your far left side are all the kitchen toolware if you want to level up your kitchen game. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Always enjoy my time here at MT supermarket. Lots of ingredients you won't find at a 99 Ranch or H Mart.

My favorite market. Full of fresh fish, veggies, and meats; seemingly unlimited spices, sauces,…read moredried peppers, dried mushrooms, soup bases (fresh and dried); prepared goodies, teas, milk tea mixes; a ridiculous number of fresh and dried noodle options both seasoned and unseasoned; frozen kimbap, dumplings, bao, everything you didn't even know you wanted, you'll find. They even have alcohol, dishes, candles, other houseware supplies, and some basic American products. Prices area generally competitive, some much better than others. My main complaint is that it can be overwhelming, especially when you're trying to find one specific thing. The other issue is that so many items have mislabeled prices or none at all. This can be challenging when you're trying to stay in budget while faced with more options that you can imagine. Also, fresh prepared items don't necessarily have their ingredients listed which can be scary for less adventurous eaters. The store is generally easy to navigate even through some cluttered set ups.
