Perfect if you want to bed fed and thoroughly inebriated for under $20. Bartenders are the greatest, always an awesome time.

Despite that I keep thinking about what I want to try next time I go. The atmosphere, scale and feel of the dining room is fantastic. It sort of feels like a Rochester version of Cheers. I love that they had all the doors open and the beautiful summer evening climate was enjoyable whether you sat inside or outside. This meant dealing with a few gnats or flies at our indoor table. I started with a Caesar side salad which was very good. The entrees we had were Salmon and Chicken Riggies. The Chicken RIggies were great. Not spicy at all but made-to-order so it could be made spicy. The pasta was perfectly tender but firm, the diced chicken was flavorful and easy to eat. It was THE most successful Chicken Riggie dish I've tried to date anywhere and I took the leftovers home to enjoy for lunch the next day, a rarity for me. The salmon was not a hit. It seemed pretty fishy especially in the areas that were thinner and had become chewier from the grill drying it out. What they call roasted corn is really 'chili powder roasted corn'. The chili powder flavor was quite pronounced and not very well integrated into the dish. It tasted like very ordinary corn with very ordinary chili powder sprinkled on it. I'm sure that isn't how the dish is made but that's what it tasted like. The Cheesy Eddie's carrot cake was absolutely perfect and tasted like it was just made. It's hard to defend the pricing. Our 2 entrees, 1 side salad, 1 soft drink and 2 small glasses of wine and 1 piece of carrot cake ended up being 145 dollars after tax and tip. If the wine pour had been a nice 9 ounce pour I would have had a single glass but I had 2 because they were small. Even with 1 wine this was going to be WELL over 100 dollars for 2 people even before tip. In any head-to-head comparison with something like The Distillery or Genesee Brew House, this pricing is probably out of line. If we go back, it will be with great appreciation for the setting and modest expectations for the food.

All I will say, is that it was worth it. The place and the menu are pretty cool/chill. Plenty of seating with firepit style table tops, extremely dog friendly, self serve water, and food/drink selections were great too. The waitress was very sweet, but was obviously overworked and busy too. She apologized and gave us free drink tokens and comped us a side order of garlic fries after they ran out of side salads. None of that was her fault, but it shows how the employees and establishment care about their valued costumers. We had the veggie focaccia, garlic fries, and buffalo parm wings (they were huge). No complaints on the quality of food or the portion size since we had more than enough to take stuff home. We will definitely come back. I live only a few minutes away by foot! I don't know why I never came here sooner! Highly recommend

The outdoor tables and indoor space are both equally inviting. Big bonus on air conditioning on a super hot summer day. The beers were delicious. My fave hands down was the Tropical Crushed Fruited NEIPA. What a special beer! But definitely take advantage of the smaller pour sizes and have a few different types. The food was great but the standout item was the Warm Cookie & Ice Cream. I'm going to be dreaming about this until I can return!

I know being busy and overworked is not her fault, but she kept loudly yelling things to the general dining room, which was pretty startling. We waited over an hour for our food, got the appetizer at the same time as our dinners, didn't get asked if we wanted drink refills, food was so-so and my friend didn't get what she ordered. The spinach and artichoke dip was very tasty, which was the saving grace of my experience. I know this is a bar, not a fine dining establishment, but I would have loved not to drink out of plastic cups. Also, if you're a person of size, you'll likely feel squished in their booths. I would not rush back here, especially when Hose 22 is so close and offers better food and service.

It was a rough night, but again, food was good, and workers were doing their best, but until they get staffing under control for that large venue, maybe pass. -------------- Food: Really good. I'm not a bbq boss, but I enjoyed my 2 meat platter (pork and ribs) and 2 sides (mashed potatoes and veggies). My husband seems to enjoy his pork and chicken platter with a really decent side salad, not just lettuce, but lots of toppings and corn. My 5 yo had the larger bowl of spaghetti known to man. It was messy for everyone, but good. Large portions, decent to share, or take leftovers. Vibe: We decided on the back patio. Very nicely shaded and an over all decent night. Not bad, but honestly, probably best for our family. Seemed very chill, although you could tell groups were getting restless (see next section). Service: First off, I will say all the staff we encountered were very friendly and doing the best they could, however they were severely understaffed (and according to other reviews, this is not a one night happenstance). There was one waitress doing inside restaurant and outside patio, with a trainee who was VERY green, one bar tender handling the drinks and inside bar and tables, and what seemed like one cook. The wait for food was getting really tough with a 5 yo who spent the day at the beach, maybe moments from burning the place down haha, but she held strong. Random: We picked the place because of the bbq and the mahi fish meal. Got there and they said they no longer serve fish. I ordered a Stella draft, they didn't have it. Daughter ordered a milk, they were out.

I also was a bit late in getting a reservation so I was lucky to get one there. Our reservation was at seven and we were seated within five minutes after chatting a bit with the bartender who is really friendly. We had a booth to ourselves in the main dining area. There's also a smaller side room with two person booths. They had a great selection of beer so I ordered a hazy IPA as usual. It took a while for us to figure out what to order because this menu is huge! I shared some pictures of the menu and the special sheet. We ordered the Italian calamari as an appetizer. It was very good, with banana peppers, and olives, and an Italian dressing on it. Also, the bread they gave you was really great! They have a woodfired pizza oven, which is massive by the way. You can see it from the main dining room. My wife ordered a medium veggie pizza. It was very tasty, I tried a few bites myself. Not as crispy on the bottom as I'd like, but with a veggie pizza you're fighting a losing battle I know. All those veggies have a lot of water in them so making a crisp crust is tough. I ordered the Chicken Riggies - which I will be honest. I think it's the first time I've ever ordered it! It's rigatoni with breaded chicken pieces and lots of green, red and spicy peppers. They said they could make it as spicy hot as you wanted. I ordered it medium and it was medium, which is fine. I've tried it at some restaurants in the Utica area and it comes out so fiery hot that I can't even hardly eat it. You can always add heat you can't take it away! It was really good though. We both took half our meal home so we had dinner the next night too. I will say that the prices at Charlotte Tavern are very reasonable and the food selection is awesome. We will definitely have to come back! The atmosphere of the place is really cool too. It's been around since 1873 and they have old pictures of Charlotte landmarks adorning the walls. Our server was great too - I forgot her name but she was the owner's daughter and she did a great job. She apologized a few times that the food was taking a little while, but we realized on Valentine's Day places are busy. I guess they had a lot of takeout orders so people must know the food's great and if they can't get a reservation, they just order it to go. Which is not a bad idea by the way. We will definitely make this restaurant one that we go to regularly.

We have been coming here a couple times per month for over 10 years and are never disappointed! One step up to get in the door (enter on the side of the building), bathrooms are one at a time, and you can choose to sit at the bar or in the dining room. The full menu is available Wednesday - Saturday, bar menu (limited choices) only on Tuesday, and closed Sunday and Monday. Hoping they bring back local made desserts soon because COVID messed that up. Tuesday night still has live Irish music every week. They have a Touch Tunes machine for music otherwise. Tonight we came in and were pleasantly surprised with their St Patty's day week-long special of Corned Beef sandwiches (platters also available). This sandwich was the best corned beef sandwich I've EVER had (and I've had a few over the years lol). They offer choice of Sauerkraut, Cole slaw or house made cabbage (cooked in the corned beef juices) on marble rye with 1000 island on the side. We came in a couple months ago and the special was a prime rib Beef on Weck - my all-time favorite sandwich- and this sandwich is now my "gold standard" for beef on weck! Paul (bartender & Chef extraordinaire) is also my gold standard for Cosmos! Come on in and try it. We always sit at the bar (unless it's full) and talk to fun people, enjoy a drink and a good meal. Thanks John & Jake for keeping this establishment open for 3 generations!
