This service center is not a professional center for car repairs and more. I have been going there last 3 years latey the management has been changed and all was changed to bad experience. They made me not to there any more even with gas need I went there for oil change and ask the guy, I need oil change he said ohh the wait time is 4 hours )even the store only 2 cars to repair) I asked him it's just the oil change can u please do it little early he said no he can't. And I left to go some some other center . Once again I did have a flat tire and want to fix it , they did tried to change the whole tire and tire to sell me new tire for $200 ofcourse I did rejected and again went some other fix a flat store and had it fix for $15. I used to go there a lot because it's very close to where I do part of my job and hang out friends. I used to left my car there and hang out friend and in the main time the car would be fixed. 1 star is generous. I brought my brand new car in for a tire, and they found lots of things wrong with it. they were incredibly pushy and wouldnt show me the problems. It was the middle of winter and my battery had died since I didnt drive my car for two weeks. i dont know much about cars, but they said I needed an alternator replaced (among other things which i didnt believe) They were overcharging me quite a bit ($299 for an aftermarket alternator + 99 for labor). I went and called my dad who has been a service writer at nissan for 35+ years, and he told me i was being ripped off. When i asked them not to replace it, they said they had already started and I couldnt do anything about it, and they were incredibly rude to me and my dad. This place is ridiculously rude. I have stopped here on multiple occasions as it's on my way to my parents and usually fill the car up with no issues. However today was a different story. I pulled up and asked for $20 to be filled, cash and proceeded to give him a $20 bill, the only money I had on me. He pumped the gas into my car and started berating me that my money was fake (but could not explain how it was fake) and that I was a cheat. I offered to pay with my credit card and he was in an outrage. There were more comments about how I was a cheat and taking advantage of him when all I wanted to do was pay and get my child and myself going. He even pressured me to come inside and withdraw the cash via the ATM. I refused to leave my child alone in the car. This business doesn't deserve anyone's business and I'll be finding another gas station soon. read more

I just picked up my car from Nor-Topia and am impressed by the service. John, a manager, handled my case. He sounded professional, explained the problem with my car clearly, sought good pricing on the parts, executed the repair promptly, and handed the car back with a post-mortem. Total bill wss $1,200. I will wait a few weeks to see how my car runs before concluding this review. So far they deserve a full 5 star on everything. I saw low ratings here and was concerned. But I feel they deserve a try for being very professional in picking up my car. Follow Up 1/4/2015: It has been over a year and my BMW has been running fine. We have been going to see Sal at Nor-Topia for many years. He's handled our Subaru's and he and his crew always have done a great job. I was there yesterday to see about a battery problem.....I've had to get a jump start twice in 4 months....and the radio lights have started flickering, along with rough starting, etc. Sal and his great team of mechanics tested it and suspected that the battery's capacity had been reduced. He did a great job explaining how the daily drains on the battery effectively reduce its capacity over time...talking over a period of several years. Anyway, got a great Interstate Battery with lots of CCA'S that outperforms the original OEM that came with the car. Sal's prices are fair, has good mechanics and really listens well and winds up teaching me about the drains on a car battery. What more can you want! Believe me, you will do your car a favor and yourself visiting Sal at Nor-Topia. read more

I'm lucky enough that in the past 10 years, my cars have been problem-free in that they haven't required major service. I've come mostly for the yearly state inspections, oil changes and tune ups - basically routine maintenance. Everyone I've dealt with has been super friendly and courteous. They called when they said they would, price isn't any different from other places, and if all you can say about a mechanic is that they tried to swindle you into buying $15 windshield wipers, I call that a win. read more

These people are incompetent. Went for an inspection and I witness the 'mechanic' using a ball-pin hammerto pop out the wheel lock in which he used a power tool to remove. The wheel locks have a image on it stating NO POWER TOOLS. (His reason for using it after confrontation, was it was too tight)But this is why it became stripped and he damaged the wheel lock. My inspection now has costed me far more than a general inspection because I now had to go to Nissan an order a new wheel lock and key for my tire. read more

Went for inspection was told to come back in two of hours, came back after two hours taking the bus and told its still not done. Told to come back in about an hour so ate and came back still not done. And then I am told they cant read my car. The whole freakin day wasted. He was not sorry and did not even apologize. Unprofessional and rude and cocky workers. They treat you like you are beneath them because they know about cars, oh wait no they don't because they said they could not read my car which was read just fine and inspected elsewhere. I have no proof, but I just felt taken by this place. I went several times: 1. Towed, replaced battery and electrical wires for 300+ 2. Brought it it for front end noise, they said I need struts for 600+ 3. Brought it in for brake issue, they say I need all new brakes for 600+ 4. Broughti t in for a noise issue, they said I need rear shocks for 400 Each time I brought it in for a problem, they said I needed a something new and charged 300-600. I told them about the emergency brake sticking problem when they replaced my brakes, but the emergency brake still got stuck afterwards. This one for me is bittersweet because I used to think this place was like family and the service was top notch. 3 generations of my family have been coming here for many years. My grandfather, father and myself. When old man Bob was running this place you were just completely comfortable coming here. You never ever had to worry about anything and you trusted that your repairs or just routine stuff would be done correctly, efficiently and he truly truly cared about the neighborhood. Unfortunately from what I here Bob has passed away. The current regime consists of 2 clearly miserable individuals who seem to hate everyone that is in their presence, customers and employees alike. Now I have a relatively new Jeep and don't really have much need to visit them anymore because I change my own oil and stuff but they were really nasty to my father last year or the year before so he stopped going here. My reason for this review was last month was the last straw. I came in with some used oil and asked one of them if I can dispose of it. From what I understand they have to take it per NYS law. He proceeded to ask me where I bought the oil. When I told him Pep Boys he told me to bring it there because I didn't buy it from him. Wow! I'm done and everyone needs to know about these two bozos. How can you run a business in a neighborhood like this where everyone knows each other, treat people like this and expect to succeed? Not even one star but i should give them one star to be kind. I do not recommend this place for service/repairs/inspections, etc. Go elsewhere! I brought in my Toyota car, 2003, into this service station to have it inspected. It took over an hour in a half. While I was sitting in their waiting space, I overheard the mechanic say, "what's that ...car doing here?! She wants to sell it?!" The guy behind the counter replied, no, she wants that car inspected. Then he made more unprofessional remarks. The guy was the mechanic who inspected my car. He took his time and messed up. They wanted new "brakes." I said no. I will take it to my regular mechanic. They were upset. So what! My brake pads and discs were changed last year. When I drove in the early evening, I noticed my newly replaced l/s headlight bulb was not working. After I parked and opened up the hood. My battery bar was missing a screw and my supposedly new headlight bulb was newly replaced was lose. Later in the evening, I brought my car to my regular mechanic to check my brakes. My regular mechanic stated that my car is ok. My car passes the NYS inspection regulations. But the "replaced" lightbulb by this place was broken and that the screw to hold my battery bar in place was missing., I called the establishment that evening. Of course, they denied it. They even said no, ma'am. We didn't even touch the battery. We changed the lightbulb... I will not return, not even to fill up my gas tank. I lease and usually do the bare minimum so i was pleasantly surprised that they walked me through the many options of brakes available at different price points and were very honest when they told me that there was still life on my front brakes and that it could wait til next time. I took my car there from 8/17 to 2/18 about 5 times to have the battery checked out was told evrything is ok and that I need to drive more often. Battery was replaced and pro-rated. I took it again on 7/7/18 and was finally told that it's a electrical problem. Why wasn't this seen earlier. They may drag their time and charge you more. To make it worse and I had to call AAA and pay a fee 2 times because I used up my allowance. Very frustrated when it comes to these mechanics. read more

I have been going to this service station for over 20 years, and there is a reason. Sal and Samir, the shop managers, are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. They take pride in their work and I have always admired them for their honesty which is not always the case. Since they moved six months ago to their current location on Northern Blvd and Utopia Parkway, I had an opportunity to take my business elsewhere to a gas station nearer to my house. I chose to stay with them because they are honest and care about their customers. I now travel over 4 miles round trip and I don't think twice about it. They know my car and they care. I have been going to Nor-Topia Service Station for several years mostly for basic maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations. I was always impressed with the speed of those services and always appreciative of the fact they never used the another storm it happened again. When I brought the car to the dealership service department they claimed it was from a clogged drainage tube in the sunroof. I thought that was odd considering there was no dripping of water from anywhere above. In order for them to fix this problem they claimed they needed to stereotypical scare tactics that many mechanics use to make extra money on unnecessary labor. The real reason I wanted to post this review is on my most recent experience with them. My wife's 2008 car started to get water, close to " in the rear passenger foot rests, we assumed it was an open window but after reassemble the headliner and replace the entire carpet for $1700 plus tax. I opted not to have the work the done since it was not covered under warranty and going to the dealer is always more expensive. I decided to take care the car to Nor-Topia to see there thoughts on the matter. As soon as I was done explaining the situation, one of the managers said "sounds like the wiper cowl drain is clogged I can check it, but I am pretty sure that's the problem" They'd have to charge me for labor and they'd let me know. Around an hour later they called me up to tell me that a clogged wiper cowl was indeed the problem and they told me it was not necessary to replace the carpet just get some Febreeze and air out the carpet and replace the inner lining, grand total $89.00. I took the car to the car wash, waited for it to rain and when it did, no water in the car! When I did try to remove the front passenger seats to air out the carpet the bolts were stripped. Not wanting to deal with that nightmare I immediately brought it back to Nor-Topia. They were going to need to use an air chisel to remove the bolt, but at that point I would have paid $100 just to not stress myself out further. They only charged me $22.00...I think all people want from their mechanic is honesty, if I need new brakes pads replace them, but don't tell me I need new discs if I don't. It's hard to trust most mechanics because mechanics have such horrible reputations for taking advantage of customer whether they are ignorant or knowledgeable. But I've seen enough from Nor-Topia to know if I need an honest assessment on the condition of my car, they are the best place to go. read more

I have never felt so violated by a auto repair service before. We brought out car because of a flat tire - we were told it was $190 for the new tire and labor ( already too much but we hesitantly agreed as we couldn't take the car anywhere else because it was already riding almost on the rim ). We were told they would call us since the tire had to be ordered as it was a special tire for the car. We received a call at 5:30 indicating the car was ready and they close at 6:00, with no car how would we get there so soon? the net day was the snow storm ( 9 inches in queens ) and barely any visibility - my uber to work got stuck in the snow so no way was my husband going to do the same for the car. We called various times, no answer. Next day we are told we are being charged a storage fee .. im sorry was yesterday NOT a snow storm ???? everyone we spoke to was condescending and rude and told us " it is not our problem". I have always been treated with courtesy and respect. I have been completely satisfied with all the repairs and suggested maintenance that I've had done over the years for all my vehicles as well as my sons cars. Sal and the guys make sure my vehicles are looked over thoroughly and I've never had to bring them back for return service and or warranty. From a price stand point I've found them to be very competitive, I know what things cost and good service does not cost , it pays! What a bunch of crooks. Do not go here for anything except maybe gas. I went to use the air pumps which is $1.00 for every 3 minutes. That's pretty much the going rate, no problem. I first uncapped all of my tires before pumping. I inserted a dollar and proceeded with putting air into the first tire. After about 10 seconds of filling air, I noticed the psi barely went up. I basically held it to the pump for the full 3 minutes and it went up by only 3 psi's. So I then checked the cable for any tangles and found none. Maybe it was just warming up, I tried another dollar. Same thing again, 3 minutes later and it went up by 3 psi's again. I went into to the store and spoke with the Manager whom basically said it is working and the cold air could be the reason why. I've NEVER heard of that before, plus it's 50 degrees outside. I would hardly say that's cold. The manager decided to go check out the pump. I thought to myself, this is promising until he asked me for another dollar. I asked him why would I give him a dollar for him to check his own air pump? What if it doesn't work again? then I would be out 3 dollars. Granted, 3 dollars isn't going to break me but its the principle. He basically said it's working fine without testing and told me to leave. This is just BAD BUSINESS. I will NEVER go back here for anything again and will also let everyone I know the same. We all need to stick together and show them that we will not be cheated and will not tolerate nor condone this type of business. This place is great, I've been going here for over 10 years from when they were at their other location. I drive a lot for work and my car gets a lot of wear and tear, so I deal with them regularly. The staff are very professional and genuinely nice people. They always explain everything that's going on with the car without dumbing it down and always check with you first before proceeding with anything. They're also accommodating if it's late in the day and you can't pick up your car until the following day. Would highly recommend them to everyone. read more
