Came here during a holiday weekend. Since I had to get a tow truck for my car since it wasn't starting. But they were able to get me in that same day. I got in around 12-1pm. They called me around 3ish and let me know they finally got to my car and found out the issue. And they door dashed the part that was needed for the car. They did mention if they can't finish I won't be able to get the car back until Monday. Was a weekend and after that was a holiday. But to my luck they were able to finish right before they closed so that I was able to get my car back the same day instead of waiting another day since they'll be closed the next day. For a long time, I was taking my car to the dealer but gradually learned that I could not trust them. My brother-in-law recommended that I consider Douglaston Auto Care. He noted that they were friendly and honest. He was correct. The first time I went, it was shortly after working with the dealer---I was hearing a strange sound and had just paid the dealer an exorbitant amount of money for repairs on my brakes (which I had been noting for several visits and the dealer and they kept saying nothing was wrong until it got so bad that it became an expensive job). I brought my car to Douglaston Auto Care and the sound was coming from my positioning of the rubber mat on the floor against the brake and gas. Another mechanic would have seen that as opportunity to take advantage. Not at Douglaston---they are honorable. They told me the truth. I have been going there ever since and will never return to my dealer. They are always truthful and explain in detail what has to be done. Their work is also impeccable. The night before Thanksgiving Day, at 6:06, I pulled into Douglaston Auto Care to get a door light fixed. It would not turn off and because it was Thanksgiving the next day with all car shops closed, I was worried about draining my battery on the ride home to NYC, overnight and through the next day. They had closed at 6 pm. Andy, and the other technicians were clearly packing up when I arrived. Andy saw my silent resignation and worry on my face. His kindness and willingness to take the problem on after the shop was closed changed Everything! He diagnosed the problem and worked for the next 20 minutes, giving it a temporary fix, explaining what he was doing and what parts I needed to make the permanent fix. Came here today to pick up a friend who was getting his brakes/rotors looked at. I've heard good things about this place from a couple of friends. I happened to need an inspection for my E450. I usually take my car to the dealer for service. My friend said ask Andy (he's the owner I believe) how long would it take and he said he can do it right away. My car was done in like 20 mins. Excellent service. I also noticed that he works on all types of cars from old to newer luxury cars (to me that's a good sign) I also inquired about other things that I want to get done just to see where his pricing levels were at. His prices were reasonable and if not better. I live in the neighborhood and it's good to know there's a good, honest mechanic. Wonderful staff and experience!! I originally came in because I thought I had a problem with my muffler, but Andy said that there was nothing wrong with it and even brought me outside to show me. I was so relieved and, more importantly, appreciative of his honesty. I knew I needed an alignment, but before he said he'd do that, he test drove it around the block before confirming that. Stephanie(? Sorry about the spelling), the receptionist, is also very kind and sweet. We were given a remote to change the TV channel, which I found so cute haha. I'll definitely be back again. Just as a side note/tip: the place is on the smaller side, so parking your car might be an issue, but you can park your car in the golf parking lot across the street if you need. I initially called to ask a few questions and make an appointment and she had such a "whatever" attitude, as if I was annoying her by speaking. I came across Douglaston Auto Care by accident. While coming from NJ to Long Island for a funeral, I became an unwilling participant in the NY pot hole ate my tire community. They could not have been more helpful in fixing the tire, and getting me back onto the road and on my way. Really pleased with my experience at DAC! I came in right before they opened on a Saturday and Andy was super friendly- helped me out right away after taking my information. I came in to get new wheels and tires put on my car which is a pretty straight forward process but as someone who is very particular about their car, I always pay close attention to everything. That being said, all the work was done flawlessly. Not a single mark on any of the wheels from mounting and balancing the tires, minimal amount of wheel weights used to balance the wheels (the fewer, the better), tires properly aligned on the wheels etc. In addition, the waiting area is kept very clean and tidy. You could also tell they get a LOT of return customers which is a good sign- I'll definitely be one of them. read more

Quick, courteous and super nice! We needed to get an inspection on a Sat as ours expired already and we're only free on the weekends. We called and they said to come in and we were in and out within 20min! And they helped us install our front plates! Would highly recommend! This place has people who really define Quality Service. My car remote was not working, and no other place nearby that I could buy a battery. It was around 7pm, and pretty much everywhere is ready to close up. I ran to this place and talked with the guy in the front and explained my problem. He wasn't sure if he had batteries but he went to the back and checked. He found a replacement battery! He also told me to go try it out (real trust), even though I was far from them. I went and tried the remote and it didn't work, turned out it wasn't a battery problem. I went back to them to pay for the service but they said it was fine and it is probably a remote problem. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for real care for their car. This is not a place seeking to rob you of your money, just a place to get quality car repairs. read more

I've had tires repaired by him, oil and filter changed, and inspections done at Douglaston Auto Care, and I've been pleased every time.
