    chipping already?!
    Lynne T.

Got my hopes up when I found a salon walking distance to my apartment, but this will not be my go to salon. I was very happy when I left with newly manicured nails, just 3 DAYS after I got a gel manicure, they all started to chip off and break. It was sooo disappointing because most other salons I go to can last at least 3-4 weeks. I'm still on the lookout for a nail salon I can visit on a regular basis. Maybe a one off experience? I'm very disappointed and unhappy that I spent so much money on a gel manicure that lasted 3 days :(

First, to the two ladies who walked in today at noon expecting a mani/pedi, then getting huffy that they were busy and making a point on their phones "TWO OF US, RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN TAKE US, PERFECT" and then walking out huffy like "someone else gets our business" - 1) they don't need unappreciative people like yourselves who think they are just there to serve you and ONLY YOU and no one else - like myself sitting in the chair and 2) make an appointment I'm going to stress that more... MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Especially if you are going to come on any weekday during lunch time (11-1). There are a ton of people working around there and we are all doing the same thing.. Cuz they are great! They are very willing to accommodate you! Call ahead if you need to make sure of a specific time! They only have 5 chairs and normally 4 people working. Yes one chair does have a broken arm but the others do not. They are affordable. They do a GREAT job. My manicures have lasted perfect for almost two weeks. That's almost gel standards and no where near the price. To the ladies who acted so witchy with a b today, I hope karma is also witchy and your manicure chipped by the time i wrote this tonight for the way you treated those kind ladies!!

2nd time visiting Nora's Salon and love it! It's just a few blocks from where I live making it my official go to nail salon, especially because they do a great job! The staff is warm and welcoming and willing to accommodate to anything you want with your nails! I got a valentines theme gel pedi and an acrylic gel fill in! See pictures below

I have been to a few nail salons in San Francisco and this one is my favorite. I've been seeing Diem at Nora Spa for about a year now and my nails are ALWAYS beautiful and I get compliments on my nails all the time. She is also the sweetest person. Today I did a purple spring nail that was Rapunzel inspired. I love them! 10/10 recommend Diem and her Salon. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else

Y'all, I wanted so badly to like this place. They are right around the corner from my office and I previously stopped in for gel removal and they were really nice. But, I just can't. Came here for a mid-day mani. It was definitely quick and efficient, but dang, it is just NOT a good manicure. It's sloppy- looks like I did it myself. The lines at the cuticles are jagged, making it look messy. There are bubbles on the nails. And she was ROUGH with my cuticles. It hurt! I just wanted a quick manicure. It didn't have to be amazing. But this... This was bad. So sad that I can't come back here. This salon needs to improve or they aren't going to last long. *NOTE* prices were raised. Basic mani now $16!

Don't usually write reviews, but I moved to SF almost a year ago and have been searching for a good nail salon since. This is my second time going here and I have zero complaints. My last set of nails lasted so much longer than they have when I've gotten them done elsewhere. And this time she did an excellent job at my nail design. Highly recommend!

Dude look at how the white part just stops. It's like skrrrr so ugly.

Do not come here. I repeat do not come here. Came here with my sister to get our nails done before her wedding. The place is conveniently located in soma and near her apartment. So we go in, tell them what we want and all of it goes ok until we have to pay. The total comes out to $100 and my sister says it's supposed to be $90, but they begin chittering saying it's $5 extra for French tip. This is all without telling us upfront AND it did not say on the price board they had. She says prices are in the brochure they have on the table so we have to pay the extra $10. I was more flabbergasted that it was just so disrespectful and shady. The prices weren't displayed along with the rest of it and no one told us about it upfront. I'm not surprised the past reviews are all one stars. Save your money, go elsewhere.

    Simply the best.

I love Nora Spa & Salon. I get exactly what I ask for every time and I adore the staff.

Got a pedi & acrylic set, and Diem did an amazing job, also there was a plexiglass barrier between us and she gave me hand sanitizer upon arrival. Highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Such a lousy job. See my poor cuticles! They cut my nails so short!

Never never come here. This place is terrible!!! Just checked other people's reviews, exactly what happened to me. I got the worst manicure ever from this place. The old lady is not good at the techniques and she's very rude and hurt my cuticles so much!! She kept rolling eyeballs at m too! How ridiculous. I can do a better job by myself just at home. Not worth it at all!

I uploaded pictures of what this salon did to my cuticles. This is a horrible place to go. I went for a manicure - my last one was a month ago near my home. As. I type this I'm in pain. The harsh, brutal treatment was unnecessary. Eight fingers were affected and 6 bleeding. The woman who did this not only did not acknowledge but then dipped my bleeding cuticles in water infused with lemons. Excruciating pain. I had to pay $40 to come out with damaged, bleeding cuticles. I definitely do not recommend

After ripping off my nails with a cuticle cutter, another nail, and nail clippers. Very painful
    Rosheen A.

I came here for convenience. One acrylic nail broke off so I thought it'd be a good idea to go to a professional than to rip them off myself. Plus my natural nails had grown out so long I thought I'd be happy with the length once the acrylic was taken off. I was extremely disappointed when the nail tech started cracking off my nails with a cuticle cutter. The pain was enough for me to stop her half way (after requesting to soak them off two times) to please remove the other nails with acetone. I don't care how long it takes, I want healthy nails. My natural nails all cracked and some even down the middle. I have attached photos. For the sake of not going home with bloody fingers, I stuck out the two hour long appointment. She even expected a cash tip because "cash is better for her". I've been in the service industry and I tipped her anyway because I know how important it is, but I felt it was not deserved. Might be good for regular mani pedis but definitely don't go here for acrylic nails or to remove them.

    Meh
    Dani A.

Mediocre service at best, which is a shame because the positives reviews on here led me to believe the odds were ever in my favor! Service: Gel manicure and regular pedi (pedi was decent, woo!). Not impressed with my gel manicure, it looks incredibly sloppy. For some odd reason, my technician seemed like she was in a big hurry although I was the only person in the salon (beside my bf who finished his mani/pedi). My cuticles look terrible and the gel itself just looks meh (maybe that was my fault for picking a light color). Gel manicures are my thing, I love them and have gotten probably more done than I can count on my hands and feet, so with that being said, I can confidently say this whole experience landed itself in my top three worst manicures of all time, whomp whomp. Waste of money, will not be returning.

Under the previous owners, Laura and Danny, the salon felt welcoming and personal. Over the years, we got to know them and many of the people who worked there, and we brought the business a great deal of repeat business. Unfortunately, since they retired and sold the business to Lux SF2, my experiences have changed dramatically. My longtime technician is still wonderful, and I have nothing but positive things to say about her. Unfortunately, the overall atmosphere and customer service have gone downhill. The manager who now runs the salon consistently comes across as angry and unwelcoming. There is rarely a hello or any effort to make customers feel welcome, and it seems that the employees are uncomfortable around her. There is also another employee who has displayed the same type of behavior toward customers. The problems really came to a head when my partner was accidentally charged double for a service. He noticed the overcharge immediately and was told that it would be corrected and refunded within a day or so. It wasn't. After three phone calls over the course of 10 days, the money still had not been refunded. We ultimately let the matter go because he returned to the salon and received the pedicure he had already paid for. Instead of simply resolving the issue professionally, the manager became angry and raised her voice at my partner, insisting that the money had already been refunded when it had not. My partner eventually contacted the manager at their sister salon on Hayes Street to explain what had happened. Apparently, that made the situation even worse, because the manager then confronted him and became even more upset with him in the salon. Then came my experience last night. I had a punch card that had been started under the previous ownership. I had one punch remaining for a complimentary manicure. This card had already been punched by the current salon seven times out of ten, so they clearly had been honoring it. After receiving my manicure, I presented the card and was suddenly told that I had to pay an additional $5 because it was an "old" card from the previous owner. When I questioned this, I was told that they don't honor the old cards--even though they have continued punching mine and accepting it as valid. If the salon no longer intends to honor a loyalty program, that should have been clearly communicated to customers before they continued accepting and stamping those cards. The situation became even more uncomfortable when the male employee raised his voice at me in front of other customers and began bringing up my partner's refund issue from a month and a half earlier. I explained that the matter had already been dealt with, but he continued to argue with me and speak to me disrespectfully. Meanwhile, the manager, who was present and is supposedly running the salon, never stepped in to de-escalate the situation or address the behavior. I eventually left and went to the main Lux SF location up the street to speak with management. The manager there was apologetic, listened to what happened, and treated me with the professionalism and courtesy I would have expected from the salon in the first place. There are also growing concerns about cleanliness and sanitation that I have noticed during my recent visits. The chairs and workstations appear to have a layer of nail dust on them, and sanitizing the stations does not seem to be the priority it once was. I have also observed pedicure stations not being sprayed with what appeared to be bleach/disinfectant after each use. Given the nature of the services being provided, this is particularly concerning to me. I plan to contact the appropriate health department to report what I have observed and ask them to determine whether the salon is following the required sanitation procedures. It is incredibly disappointing to see a place that we supported for so many years change this much. Customers should not feel like they are walking into an environment where employees are angry, customers are spoken to disrespectfully, charges are inconsistent, or legitimate concerns are met with confrontation. A business cannot build a lasting customer base by treating people this way. In my opinion, if the current management continues to create an atmosphere of anger, disrespect, and distrust--and if customers feel they are being overcharged or treated unfairly whenever there is an opportunity to do so--the business will eventually lose the loyal customers who helped sustain it for years. I genuinely hope Lux SF2 takes these concerns seriously. There is still an opportunity to turn things around, but that starts with treating customers and employees with basic respect, being transparent about pricing and loyalty programs, properly addressing billing issues, and making cleanliness and sanitation a priority again.

I had to repeat myself multiple times and eventually had to switch to Gel-X just to regain the length that was removed. There also seemed to be a language barrier. However, instead of asking a coworker for clarification, she continued with what she thought I said rather than confirming my request. I ultimately had to stop and ask another staff member walking by to help translate. Additionally, pricing was not transparent. The service is listed online as $70 for a gel builder fill, but I was charged $85. When I asked about it, I was told I had already been given a discount, which was confusing and not explained.
