I'm a bit aghast at the mean reviews. They are ill-deserved based on my experience. Ladies -- (and gents) when we choose personal care services there are many different types of businesses to choose from. Just like you don't go to an Applebees and compare it to a michael Mina meal - don't go to a local inexpensive nail salon and be surprised you aren't getting the Canyon Ranch treatment. In short I'm saying don't disparage a small business because you are a cheap snob. I paid less than $70 in SOMA for a very nice gel manicure (one week ago and it still looks fresh) and pedicure. This was my first treatment since the start of the pandemic - so my hands and feet were a mess (not a hot mess, a shit show to be clear). I left feeling like myself again. The salon is extremely clean, the massage chair for the pedicure was perfect. Lots of choices of colors and brands for polish. My cuticles almost needed power tools to wrangle, but instead of judgement, they were treated with gentle kindness. Lots of precautions in place that should help you feel safe, I was the only client in the salon, deema wore a mask the entire time (as did I of course) she had a plexiglass shield for both treatments, and most importantly she was kind, but also read my mood and allowed me to enjoy the relaxing treatment in quiet. I'll be back, give them a try. Also - if your cuticles are getting nipped and it hurts -- YOU HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING. Your technician cannot feel your fingers and they don't have any intention of hurting you, but they aren't psychics. There's no prize for silently becoming enraged then posting a nasty review. Let me caveat this review by saying that I rarely get my nails done. I don't exactly engage in dainty activities and my polish chips all the time or my nail breaks. It's a cycle but what can you do? Getting them done all the time is costly but I do indulge from time to time for a good deep cleaning. I decided to join my coworker here because we were taking clients to schmooze. I opted in for regular polish because even though gel lasts longer it's also higher maintenance in the long run and costs money to remove. The spa was average. Don't expect a lavish salon. Seats were ok. They soak your feet like normal. Slightly buff away the dead skin. Cut your cuticles. Paint. Voila! I don't think my lady knew that I understood what her and her team were saying. Yeah I was undercover. I had to schmooze the client next to me which involved lots of small time and when I talk I move which made it difficult for her to polish. My bad! I felt like she could have spent more time massaging or buffing my feet that was the quickest session ever. for $26 a pedi that's what you get. My spa charges $35 but she takes her time to pamper my feet. The extra is worth it! Got my hopes up when I found a salon walking distance to my apartment, but this will not be my go to salon. I was very happy when I left with newly manicured nails, just 3 DAYS after I got a gel manicure, they all started to chip off and break. It was sooo disappointing because most other salons I go to can last at least 3-4 weeks. I'm still on the lookout for a nail salon I can visit on a regular basis. Maybe a one off experience? I want to like this place, I really do. It's conveniently located downtown, the seats are comfy, place is clean and people are nice. I've gone 3 times so far - seemed okay the first two times but on the 3rd time they ruined my eyebrows so bad I look like I'm constantly surprised. UGH!!! First, to the two ladies who walked in today at noon expecting a mani/pedi, then getting huffy that they were busy and making a point on their phones "TWO OF US, RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN TAKE US, PERFECT" and then walking out huffy like "someone else gets our business" - 1) they don't need unappreciative people like yourselves who think they are just there to serve you and ONLY YOU and no one else - like myself sitting in the chair and 2) make an appointment I'm going to stress that more... MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Especially if you are going to come on any weekday during lunch time (11-1). There are a ton of people working around there and we are all doing the same thing.. Cuz they are great! They are very willing to accommodate you! Call ahead if you need to make sure of a specific time! They only have 5 chairs and normally 4 people working. Yes one chair does have a broken arm but the others do not. They are affordable. They do a GREAT job. My manicures have lasted perfect for almost two weeks. That's almost gel standards and no where near the price. The lines at the cuticles are jagged, making it look messy. There are bubbles on the nails. And she was ROUGH with my cuticles. It hurt! I just wanted a quick manicure. It didn't have to be amazing. Do not come here. I repeat do not come here. Came here with my sister to get our nails done before her wedding. The place is conveniently located in soma and near her apartment. So we go in, tell them what we want and all of it goes ok until we have to pay. The total comes out to $100 and my sister says it's supposed to be $90, but they begin chittering saying it's $5 extra for French tip. This is all without telling us upfront AND it did not say on the price board they had. She says prices are in the brochure they have on the table so we have to pay the extra $10. I was more flabbergasted that it was just so disrespectful and shady. The prices weren't displayed along with the rest of it and no one told us about it upfront. I came here for convenience. One acrylic nail broke off so I thought it'd be a good idea to go to a professional than to rip them off myself. Plus my natural nails had grown out so long I thought I'd be happy with the length once the acrylic was taken off. I was extremely disappointed when the nail tech started cracking off my nails with a cuticle cutter. The pain was enough for me to stop her half way (after requesting to soak them off two times) to please remove the other nails with acetone. I don't care how long it takes, I want healthy nails. My natural nails all cracked and some even down the middle. I have attached photos. For the sake of not going home with bloody fingers, I stuck out the two hour long appointment. She even expected a cash tip because "cash is better for her". I've been in the service industry and I tipped her anyway because I know how important it is, but I felt it was not deserved. Mediocre service at best, which is a shame because the positives reviews on here led me to believe the odds were ever in my favor! Service: Gel manicure and regular pedi (pedi was decent, woo!). Not impressed with my gel manicure, it looks incredibly sloppy. For some odd reason, my technician seemed like she was in a big hurry although I was the only person in the salon (beside my bf who finished his mani/pedi). My cuticles look terrible and the gel itself just looks meh (maybe that was my fault for picking a light color). I am absolutely IN LOVE with how well and detail-oriented they are about any service they offer, especially the gel manicures. I generally would not recommend anyone go here. My tech was rude to me and rough with my nails. I told her i had a cut and she proceeded to put lime juice and nail polish remover into it while shaking her head in frustration at my wincing. Not even three days later and my gel has chipped and peeled in weird layers off of 4 of my ten nails. I called to see if i could get a refund and they wont honor it because they "dont know if i hit my hand on something" and messed them up. I've been looking for a new, reasonably priced nail salon in the city for quite a while. I decided to check out Nora Spa due to its proximity to my work and the fact that they had massage chairs. I went on a Friday evening and they at sat me pretty quickly after I picked out a color. The cost for a pedicure was $26, which I thought was generally pretty fair. My experience definitely could have been better. Firstly, the technician scrubbed each foot for maybe 20 seconds. There was still lots of dead skin when I got home. Secondly, the technician did try to trim my skin so that I would have less of an ingrown nail (which I do appreciate), but the next few days the toe was infected and had pus coming out of it. Thirdly, I realize pedicures aren't meant to last forever, but mine usually last 6-8weeks. After my pedicure here, my nails started to chip significantly within the first two weeks. This was the main thing that I was disappointed about. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and the location was nice enough with a good variety of nail polish options. It was nice that I didn't have to make an appointment as well. read more

Great salon! I come to Nora all the time. It is reasonably priced, with nice staff. I can always get appointments when I need them. I have only ever had a gel manicure and pedicure here, so I can't speak to the other services, however, my gel manicures always last a long time (2-3 weeks), and the manicures always look good. The service is definitely no frills- a perfect place to go for a quick manicure on a lunch break. I was looking at the other reviews, and they seem inconsistent with my experience at the salon. The staff have never made me pay before getting my nails done, potentially because they recognize me, and they have always been polite to me. read more

Was looking to get a quick mani-pedi in on my day off. I regret not checking yelp before going in. Everything mentioned in everyone else's reviews are completely accurate. The staff was incredibly rude and seemed as though they had no interest other than gossiping in the back room. They made me pay, with tip, before starting my service, which I found incredibly odd. They had no dryers for my fingers or my toes and I was literally blowing on my own fingers between hands. The woman doing my nails was making comments about my tattoos to the other staff members thinking I didn't understand them. Its been less than a day since getting them done and my fingers are already chipping.
