I got so lucky nabbing a spot last minute at 4:45pm an hour before said appointment. Granted, it was a Wednesday afternoon, this place gets booked up! I can tell it's well loved by the surrounding community because there were so many people who walked in and knew the staff by their first name. I walked here from the bus stop off Rhode Island and 16th. It was a short and pleasant 10min walk from where I started. It was flat until I passed by a Whole Foods when the journey was all uphill. Short of breath, I made it to the top of the hill and to my destination *phew. It was a nice quad and glute workout for sure. I was greeted by a friendly staff and led to a wall of nail polish (sometimes the choices are overwhelming). I chose a bright pink and sparkly OPI nail polish. It felt summery. I ended up feeling tense as I sat and eased my feet into warm water. Annie, my nail artist, told me to relax but my body wanted to do the opposite. I think I get tense when my toenails are being cut as if to anticipate pain, but when I felt comfortable with her technique, I started to relax. It was probably the most relaxed I've been all week. Annie was sweet and attentive. She also did a really good job removing my cuticles and massaging my calves. I needed it! It was a great way to end a stressful day at work. This place is fine, the biggest issue is the cost for value. The pedicure is $70 (with the quick dry dazzle nail polish, why there's a $5 up-charge for a polish is alone a mystery). The quality of ingredients, time spent, lack of even a slight massage, and general feel of the spa doesn't warrant such a high price tag. That's the issue, if the prices were akin to what other spas charge, I'd rate this higher, but at $70 it's really hard to say this place is 5* quality. My feet are drier than when I went in, I think it's because she didn't put lotion on after the scrub? However, there are limited options in Potetro, and they're always booked out, so it's working for them! read more

They have the longest lasting polish I've ever used that's not gel (pay for the dazzle dry!). The team is so friendly and attentive and a great eye for detail. They have a good selection of Dazzle Dry and although they charge a little more for it, it does seem to avoid chipping for a long time. This place is very different than when I started coming here 10 years ago. I wonder if it changed ownership. It used to feel more upscale like a luxury salon they offered you a quality tea or a glass of wine or even water or whatever (which seems on par for the high price point) and the decor felt more upscale. Now it has kind of janky cheap IKEA fake plant vibes now and the salon really reeks and there is not even so much as a water cooler. I always get a headache coming out of there now, where as I used to love it when it felt so airy and breezy with the doors open and the city view ahead. I asked for the door to stay open recently and got a subtle eye roll because one of the nail technicians was cold. Come on, this is SF not Chicago in the dead of winter where you need to close the doors. No one wants cancer breathing all those chemicals! There is nowhere comfortable to sit if you are getting a manicure and no waiting area. I got a $5 dazzle dry extra charge on my last bill that no one warned me about until after. Hmmm. And having to pay the tip separately digitally is not a great look for a salon with luxury level prices. They need to streamline their process. There is a big sign that says no trying on nail polish but I guess if you're friends with Charlene you can break those rules - as I saw two women completely ignore the rules and start painting their own nails at the polish rack while chatting her up. lol. If you're not a regular there, you are treated politely (at least no one is openly talking about you in another language) but if you're a regular, you get this loud "hey girllll" type of greeting when you walk through the door which then makes everyone else feel a little weird. I could not relax the last time I was there because the music was so loud and I was stuck listening to an entire conversation of Charlene giving 'therapy' like platitudes to some bored whiny SF housewife - I felt like I was getting dumber by the minute listening to this and I should have brought my headphones or ear plugs for some peace and quiet. If the prices weren't so expensive then none of this would be an issue. When I am paying $60 for a manicure, I expect a good massage and the extras that come with that price point. LPNS is overall trying to be friendly and give quality work so that is why I give it 3 stars instead of less. But, truthfully, I miss the way it used to be and am looking for a similar place on this side of SF - a luxury comfortable nail salon. You really feel pampered at La Petite Nail Shop! For the Shellac, you get to pick your color and they do the nail filing, buffing, and even massaging of your hands and lower arm. The polish lasts a long time and is super hard to remove on your own (good because it won't chip but bad because I can't remove it when my nails grow out). read more

I've only been to this place once just before I moved out of the city. My experience there was great. This place is always busy so make sure you book in advance! I was only able to get waxing and manicure done that day. Everyone was friendly and very attentive. I was so glad they had Oribe nail polish and some luxury brands as well. RIDICULOUS PRICES!!! 85 dollars for a gel manicure?!?! I've gotten an acrylic set removal and fill for less... not worth it

I think this was the BEST pedicure experience I've ever had. I found La Petite through extensive research on Yelp! I'm huge on reading reviews to find out where to take my business, and my research and the reviews didn't disappoint! First, I'd like to commend the staff here for taking their COVID precautions very seriously. The staff asks that you wait outside the door for them to greet you (takes literally less than 30 seconds), at which time they will perform a touch-less temperature check and ask you to go straight to the restroom to wash your hands prior to settling into your seat. The seats are beautifully divided by acrylic windows. They don't look tacky at all and you honestly barely even notice them. My nail tech was Charlene, and she just had the best spirit about her! Super friendly, great conversationalist, and very warm and welcoming. It was my first time here but I was definitely treated as if I was a regular customer. Charlene promptly asked if my water temperature in my pedi tub was to my liking and immediately presented me with the Shellac color options - as I was getting Shellac with my Sole-Mate pedicure. This was my first time getting Shellac and I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the colors were. Throughout my service, Charlene often checked on me to ask if I was comfortable, if the pressure she was using to file was okay, if the pressure she was using to massage was okay, etc. I appreciated her attention to my comfort! I also appreciated it because she genuinely seemed to enjoy making her clients happy. I LOVED that. Charlene did an excellent job with trimming, filing and bringing back to life my sad little feet. It had been EIGHT MONTHS (since before COVID lockdowns) since I had gotten a pedi! And my toes and feet look and feel like no time had gone by by the time she was done with them! AND NOT ONCE DID I FEEL RUSHED! One last little detail, that I would be remiss to not mention: When I went to pay at the end of my service, I told Charlene I only had half of her tip and I was going down the hill to where my husband was parked to get her other half she deserved. I think Charlene noticed my limited mobility and difficulty walking because, to my surprise, she met me halfway down the hill because she "didn't want me to have to walk all the way back up the hill!" I notice when people make thoughtful gestures like this, and I seriously appreciate them. This level of customer service is exactly why I'll be back -- and next time I'll be bringing my husband so he can get a pedi too! Don't let the prices deter you... I truly believe in, "You get what you pay for." The experience and service I received at La Petite Nail Salon was well worth the drive from Walnut Creek and the few extra dollars. My pedi lasts well over two weeks and even to three if I add a clear coat mid way through. They've got a decent selection of polishes that are of great quality, and have a good selection of colors. They also use the diamond file for your soles, that I've only see at Bliss (they closed!) My fugly feet came out looking look brand new... lol! I haven't yet tried their other services, but plan to in the future! They are located on Potrero Hill in an airy space with views of the bridge and bay. When I heard that nail salons can open back up, I was a little skeptical of going in to get my nails done. My husband immediately went to their website booked a appointment and told me to go in to relax and get pampered. I sure did! They take all the COVID precaution, and the place is very clean. They limit the amount of customers in the shop to keep the 6 feet distance. They also have hanging plastics to divide each space. I feel relax and at ease that it's safe to be in there doing my nails. Book in advance because their schedule does get booked quickly. I have had to get mani/pedi's when out of town and must say La Petite is still the best place to get a mani and/or pedi. Charlene and Annie have maintained a beautiful, clean, modern shop and all of their technicians/coworkers are personable, professional and experts in this field. I call them my Doctors because they have taken such good care of my hands and feet. My feet look so much younger than my earth age! Great atmosphere, music, view and other clients. Best nail salon I've been to in the city! Annie was my esthetician and she was extremely friendly, meticulous and took her time. I did not feel rushed at all, which usually happens at other salons. I got a shellac mani and a Gotta Have It All Pomegranate pedi. This was the best pedicure I ever had and completely worth the splurge. The callus removal and parafin wax dip was a treat and the results still look and feel great. This was my first time getting shellac done period. I opted for a non-toxic polish and it turned out great. I'm unsure of shellac is really for me because I seen small signs of imminent peeling. I do HIIT training 4-5 times per week so that may have done it. It's been ten days it still looks good (but not perfect). I'm willing to give a shellac mani here another chance to see if I have the same experience. Overall, a fantastic nail salon with an amazing view of the city and excellent service. I've finally found my go-to nail salon!! :) In the past I would go to nail salons near my house, near work, trendy/expensive places to try, etc. I drove by La Petite one day and when I glanced over I thought it looked like a cute place! Further research into Yelp confirmed that the quality of care and level of service matched my expectations. I booked an appointment online for shellac mani and basic pedi - easy process. Parking is plenty, and right off the 101. When I arrived I was warmly greeted and offered tea & brownies. Uhhh yes please!! I sat in a comfy chair and Linda got to work on a much-needed pedicure. The entire process took about 2 hours, which I didn't mind. Their music playlist is relaxing and feminine, windows all around with spectacular views, and plenty of people-watching to do as well. It made for a great, lazy afternoon. I'm very happy with the quality of my nails, and the care that Linda took. This is probably the first place where I feel it is actually worth the money to spend on your nails. I've already booked my next appointment! Edit: I've bumped up my review to 4-stars, after Charlene and her team reached out to me. First, given COVID, it's unrealistic for customers to expect someone to be manning the phones during all hours of operations. The speed and courtesy of their response went a long way. Second, after observing the polish behavior, I believe it's a formula issue - it appears that the base coat never adhered to the nail. The reviews of the brand suggest that it's usually high quality, so it may have been a bad bottle. It wouldn't be fair of me to penalize the team for something out of their control. Original review: I got a regular manicure from La Petite the night before an engagement photoshoot. The experience from booking through the appointment was delightful, and Charlene did an amazing job with my nails. However, the manicure didn't last 24 hours before a third of a nail peeled off (on the left hand, alas). 48 hours later, 6/10 nails have sizeable chunks missing (see pictures). I had already cut and shaped my nails prior to the appointment, so the polish was the main reason I was there. I didn't want to post this review, since it's such a rough time for small salons, but I wasn't able to reach the team through the phone. When I saw the piece missing from the first nail, I called and left a VM, but didn't receive a call back. She and her team made me feel very safe with her COVID protocols, and I would gladly go back for a non-polish appointment. But $50 bucks for a manicure that didn't last 48 hours does not meet my expectations. I would have been better off going with my unpolished nails and asking for my photographer to photoshop my hands. read more

This isn't the cheapest nail shop but this is a case of getting what you pay for and I actually think it's a good value for money. The cuticle care, buffing, and painting are meticulous and the massage is so relaxing. Also - my Shellac manicure and pedicure lasted basically until my nails grew out (3 weeks ish) after a week of thorough abuse on vacation. Each of the employees are superb and have an incredible touch - normally I am extremely ticklish but they do they best job on my feet without making me squirm.
